RESEARCH DESIGN Detailed strategy outlining the procedures for gathering data
Clear statement of research problem Procedure and techniques to be used for gathering information Population to be studied Methods to be used in processing and analyzing the data. : A research design contains
Describing The Research Design
Writing the Introduction Overview of your study and explain why it is important. You must describe the specific design you chose and justify its appropriateness for your study.
Vickie A. Kelly (2009), A Quantitative Study of Course Grades and Retention Comparing Online and Face-to-face Classes
Research Method
Refers to the specific steps you took to collect and analyze data throughout your research.
Writing the Method Section Should describe what was done to answer the research question, describe how it was done , justify the chosen design, and explain how the results were analyzed .
Research Locale
Discusses where the sampling and data collection will take place.
Describing the Research Locale Only identify the locale by its name only if you have sought permission. If the permission was not granted, refer the locale by its characteristics (i.e., an autonomous university in Quezon City)
Describing the Research Locale Describe the area in terms of its geographic location. For locations outside the city capital/main city, always indicate how far it is from the capital in terms of kilometers (example: Tzu Chi Village (13.3km from Ormoc City).
Describing the Research Locale Discuss details about the locale that relates it to the study's focus.
Describing the Research Locale Justify why this location is the best place for you to access samples and collect data.
Describing the Research Locale In some instances, you may use maps.
Describing the Research Locale If your study has multiple sites, a full description is written for each.
Research Subjects
Target individuals or groups to be involved in your research that are bound to scientific and ethical considerations.
Describing the Sample This should include details about the following: Major demographic characteristics Number of participants in a sample.
Evaluating the Sample Plan Identify your sampling methods Determine your sample size
Writing the Sample Section Describe Explain State Justify
