DESIGN OF AN AUDITORIUM BY USING STAAD PRO NANDHINI.K (921622413013) M.E.1 st Year Structural Engineering SBM COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY DINDIGUL

ABSTRACT This project deals with the design of a multi-purpose auditorium so as to accommodate 100 persons. The main concept design of auditorium building vision &acoustical purpose. The dimensions auditorium building is 60*40 fts with out include of compound wall Required area is calculated as per NBC. This includes planning and designing of structural elements . Auditorium consists of assembly halls, show off halls, concert halls, auditoriums and theatres. This is so because the plan is based on acoustic and vision point of view, which are taken from NBC part-VIII, for which linear shape is best suitable . The design pattern of seating arrangements, floor height, celing ,stair case & remain parameters necessary for design of auditorium interior part by using ADA code book. The drafting of auditorium planning by using auto- cadd tool & design of rcc building by using Staad Pro software.

INTRODUCTION A covered or open enclosure where people can assemble for attending any seminar given on the stage. An Auditorium is a room built to accommodated the audience to sit and watch presentation or any stage performances. An Auditorium is a large space that is the move of a multipurpose facility. An Auditorium or a multipurpose hall is usually a large space that is built to the needs and specifications of the entertainment.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES Selection of Site and Planning : - The site selection for an auditorium building is done by as per relevant site availability & condition. Size and Shape :- The dimensions is fixed in reference to the amount of people required to be seated. The building height is decided by considerations as presence of balcony, ventilation. Stage :- The dimensions of the stage depends on the sort of performance the hall is to require for. Rear Wall :- The building rear walls is kept flat otherwise it can be convex in shape. Side Wall :- Where the side walls are not kept parallel as within the case of a fan shapped hall, the walls may remain reflective and should be architecturally finished an any required manner.

METHODOLOGY SELECTION OF TITLE SURVEY ABOUT THE EXISTING AUDITORIUM BUILDING TO PLAN THE AUDITORIUM BUILDING DRAFTING IN SOFTWARE (CADD) TO DESIGN A CONCERET MEMBERS (SLAB,BEAM,COLUMN,FOOTING) TO DESIGN A STRUCTURAL BY STADD PRO V8i

SPECIFICATION It explains about design of interior & exterior part of auditorium arrangements like doors, seating dimensions, stair case, slab thickness, beam , columns & footings part are necessarily to maintain proper design using different code books. The different materials are also used for acoustical purpose & sound revibrations for auditorium to not disturb sustain building.

COMPONENTS OF AN AUDITORIUM Slab: A Slab is a structural elements, made of concrete, that is used create flat horizontial surfaces such as floors, roof deck and ceilings.A slab is generally several thick and supported by beams, columns, walls,or the ground. Beam: Beams are structural elements that resists loads applied laterally to their axis. The loads are transferred to walls, columns, foundation. Column: It is a vertical structural member of intended to transfer a compressive load.To transfer loads from a ceiling, floor or roof slab or, beam to a floor or foundations.

Column :- A Column (or) pillar in architecture & structural engineering is a structural element that transmit through compression, the weight of the structure above to other structural elements below.

Beam :- A Beam is a structural element that primarily resists loads applied laterally to the beam’s axis. Its mode of deflection is primarily by bending. The loads applied to the beam results in reaction forces at the beam’s support points.

Roof Slab :- Slab is an important structural elements which is constructed to create flat & useful surfaces such as floors, roofs & ceilings. It is horizontal structural component, with top & bottom surfaces parallel or near so.

STAAD REPORT STAAD PRO stands for Structural Analysis And Design PROgram . STAAD PRO is one of the popular software that is used for designing structures like – buildings, towers, bridges, industrial, transportation & utility structures.

GEOMETRY MODEL FROM STAAD PRO V8i & MODEL WITH SECTION PROPERTIES

RENDERING VIEW OF MODEL

ADVANTAGES OF STAAD PRO Gives accurate results for the number of reinforcements used longitudinally, Shear Reinforcement. Designing 3D structures and models of different structures can become an easy task with the help of such software. By using updated technologies and STAAD Pro software, one can directly import the designs from AutoCAD making it easier for engineers.

LIMITATIONS Professionals who use software must have relevant skills. Without any in-depth knowledge, analysis of complex structures and models can become a challenging task. Software like STAAD Pro is not suitable for brick masonry works and therefore it’s not suitable for costing and estimating. The results are uneconomical, especially for multi-story structures.

RESULTS An Auditorium is designed for 100 seating capacity & with the dining hall. Considering the present market trend, artificial lighting & ventilation are adopted. 3D designing of the auditorium building was done using the STAAD PRO v8i software. The project was aimed at the design & analysis of an Auditorium building. The analysis & design check is done by using STAAD Pro v8i software, which has proven to be good software of great potential in the analysis & design sections of the construction.

CONCLUSION The design has been done according to the shear forces & bending moments. It is seen that the dead load & live load is more than seismic load but due to seismic torsion effect note.
