ABSTRRACT This paper aims at the design and fabrication of a plastic-reinforced brick manufacturing process, which reduces plastic waste in landfills, a primary contributor to environmental pollution. The most common recyclable plastic products include water bottles, plastic bags, and plastic containers used for packing food products. These recyclable plastic products are incorporated into the bricks One of the major environmental challenges facing our country in modern times is solid waste management. Through this Plastic Brick Making concept, we can reuse and reduce plastic waste.

INTRODUCTION Plastic waste along with being non-biodegradable also causes land and water pollutio, Among the various types of plastics used, Polyethylene is one of the most used. Traditional Bricks are made by clay, which puts stress on soil and also leads to soil erosion. The use of plastic sand bricks can be beneficial and would help to reduce waste. Thus the use of plastic bricks is a promotion to sustainable development and eco-conservation at the same time.

UTILIZATION OF PLASTIC WASTE FOR MAKING PLASTIC BRICKS, R.S. Kognole etal, IJTSRD, Volume:3, Issue:4, May-Jun 2019, Pg.no;878-880 How to utilize the plastic waste in economical and environmental way to make plastic bricks Most hazardous types of waste HDPE and PTE plastic below 50 micron is also causing serious problems in environmental LITERATURE SURVEY

FABRICATION AND TESTING OF PLASTIC SAND BRICKS , S.S Chauhan etal, IOP Publications, 2019, Pg.no;1-12 The journal was saying about the methodology of the fabrication and testing of plastic sand bricks. The process of the fabrication of plastic sand brick manufacturing are collection of material, fixing the proportion of sand and plastic, preparation of brick mould, etc… The checking property of the plastic sand brick using compression strength test ,water absorption test , Fire resistance test, etc… LITERATURE SURVEY

PREPARATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY PLASTIC BRICK FROM HIGH-,DENSITY POLYETHYLENE WASTE , Sabiha sarwar etal, ELSEVIER, December 2022, Pg.no;1-12 In this journal paper , it shows various steps to check the durability and percentage of water absorption of plastic bricks. LITERATURE SURVEY

AIM We can effectively use plastic waste across the country, which helps solve the problem of managing plastic waste. Using plastic waste for brick manufacturing has great potential, and plastic sand bricks offer advantages over traditional bricks. Reducing the amount of plastic can decrease the compressive and tensile strength of bricks, but it increases their thermal resistance. Utilizing plastic waste in brick manufacturing contributes to managing environmental solid waste effectively.

COLLECTION OF MATERIALS Plastic waste covers are collected Ceramic insulator Synthetic wool Nichrome coil (2000w) used as heating coil Gas cylinder

Cast iron moulds is used. Mould size (170*70*80) mm. 1. Collection of materials 2. Melting Collecting plastic cover, plastic bags, and M sand Collected plastic is changed into liquid form by applying heat. 3. Proportion for plastic brick fabrication of plastic sand bricks, plastic and sand are mixed in different proportions and bricks containing different amount of plastic and sand are made. Plastic and M sand are mixed in different ratios 1:3 4. Prepration for mould METHODOLOGY

METHODOLOGY Collection of materials Melting phase Mixing Moulding

FABRICATION Plastic waste, like plastic bags, covers, and bottles, is collected from scrap shops Cleaning the collected materials for melting purposes. Filling the collected material into the modified gas cylinder for melting. The melted plastic is collected in a beaker and mixed with sand at a specific quantity. Heat is applied during the mixing process of the melted plastic and sand in the beaker. The mixed compound is measured precisely and placed into the mold box. The compound is compressed and left to settle for 10 minutes. The brick is taken out of the box and left to cool down for 15 to 25 minutes. After a curing period of 24 hours, the samples were demoulded and dried for two days in open air till a stable weight was reached. Then various tests.is conducted

FABRICATION Brick manufactured using plastic and sand

Take 1 brick. Remove all loose particles. Dry the bricks in a ventilated oven at 110°C until they attain substantially constant weights.Cool the bricks at room temperature. Weigh dry brick (W1). Immerse the brick in clean water at 25-29°C for 24 hours. Remove the specimens after 24 hours. Wipe off water with a damp cloth. Weigh soaked brick (W2). Calculation Water Absorption = [(W2-W1)/W1)] x 100 Water absorption test TESTING METHODOLOGY

TESTING METHODOLOGY Place the sample on the testing machine's platform. Apply a steady and uniform load at a specified rate. Record the load (in Newtons or pounds) at regular intervals until failure occurs. Calculate the compressive strength using the formula: Compressive Strength = Maximum Load / Cross-sectional Area Compression test

COMPRESSION (KN) 1 Sample 1 12.7 KN 2 Sample 2 13.6 KN 3 Sample 3 14.2 KN RESULT The specimen was tested for water absorption and the specimen had very low water absorption of 1.5% Water Absorption Test Compression Test SI NO. SAMPLES Mean value = 13.5 KN
