Interpretive sign designs
Goal: to inspire and encourage parents to learn more about The
Daily CAFÉ literacy model and to use the strategies to help their kids
become better readers.
Audience: Parents who want to help their kids become better
readers.
Message: Help your kids become better readers.
Changes: I decided to change my picture for starters. I
was going for more of an abstract picture of “CAFÉ” and
lost sight of who my audience was, parents. They need
something more concrete, hence the child reading. I love the
“help your kids”… and kept this on all my slides, including
my final design. I decided to make a list rather than a
paragraph because I though it was easier to focus on. As for
the “Be Inspired”, that’s how I want parents to feel, so I put
it in my design.
Changes: I decided to put a title with a lot of
contrast. I changed my picture too to explore different
images. I kept the list of ways to “help your kids”, but
added a couple more. I contrasted “be inspired” with the
picture, but wasn’t too happy with how it came up. I
have the same message, but am trying to connect “The
Daily CAFÉ” with my sign so it doesn’t look lost.
Changes: I experimented with color on this design! I
liked it, but enjoy the black, whites, and greys more. I
changed my picture. I love this picture! I basically kept all
of my same words, but moved them around. I would like
to find another word that could be with inspired to make
this design even more powerful to parents.
Changes: This is my final design. I am very happy
with it and I think it really sends the message I am trying
to send. I stuck with the same picture as my last design,
but changed a few other things. I thought the word
confident really went well with inspired, so I added that. I
also used some size contrast to show the powerful words.
I also changed my colors to the grey color scheme, I think
it’s simple and clean. I feel like I found a way to integrate
the title into the message. Overall, I’m so happy with the
way this final design turned out.
