Introduction A lawn mower (also known as a mower, grass cutter or lawnmower) is a machine utilizing one or more revolving blades to cut a grass surface to an even height. The height of the cut grass may be fixed by the design of the mower, but generally, is adjustable by the operator, typically by a single master lever, or by a lever or nut and bolt on each of the machine's wheels. The blades may be powered by manual force, with wheels mechanically connected to the cutting blades so that when the mower is pushed forward, the blades spin or the machine may have a battery –powered or plug-in electric motor.

Component of lawnmower Mower blade . The blade features edges that are slightly curved upward to generate a continuous air flow as the blade rotates (as a fan), thus creating a sucking and tearing action. Bed knife: The stationary cutting mechanism of a cylinder/reel mower. This is a fixed horizontal blade that is mounted to the frame of the mower. Engine/motor :. The power source of a reel mower that is powered by gasoline or electricity. Body frame : The main structural frame of the mower onto which the other parts of the mower are mounted. Wheels: Help propel the mower in action.  

Most energy sources are friendly with the environment like wind energy, solar energy, bio-gas, etc. for example Ethiopia has a big capacity for solar energy because it is located near the equator with an average daily solar radiation of 5.57kWh/m2/day. The minimum radiation recommended for this design is 550W /day.so by using this amount of solar energy can we derive the lawnmower and solve the some problems. a) previous lawnmower operate by fuel power

Electrical characteristics of solar panel 1. Irradiance (sunlight intensity), is the radiant power received by a surface per unit area. The SI unit of irradiance is the watt per square meter (1,000 Watts/m2). 2. Air Mass , defines the direct optical path length through the Earth's atmosphere, expressed as a ratio relative to the path length vertically upwards. 1.5 is the standard Air mass the standard is 1.5. 3. Cell temperature , is the actual temperature of the solar cell, it is a different temperature from ambient which will differ from ambient air temperature. At STC cell temperature is 25 co. 4. Efficiency (η), is the electrical power output Pout divided by electrical power input, Pin, into the PV cell.

Problem statement World not fully used the solar energy Sis the best way to power any device and world get more sun power throughout the year. Even Ethiopia is found in the equatorial region where solar energy is abundantly available throughout the year. Lawnmower grass cutter consumes a lot of fuel up to 4 gallons. That means 1 gallon is 3.78 litter so 4x3.78=15.12 litter per one cut so today the cost of petrol around 44.23 Ethiopian birr so 44.23*15.12=683.87 can we save. Today in world many hotels, hospitals, government organization, and other areas cover by the grass even individual homes cover by the grass .so thus area cut by using lawnmower. Today the cost of fuel increasing due to insufficient source of fuel so we can be reduced this kind of energy by using free energy like solar energy. And at this time the world attack by global warning so we can reduce the emission of black gases.so we can this emission a little bit by changing the system to solar system.

Objective General objective T o design a solar power powered lawnmower. Specific objective Determining, Predicting, and evaluating the power required to derive the lawnmower grass cutter Determine energy requirements and other design data and economic analysis Design good quality lawnmower grass cutter powered by solar system

Advantage our machine It is not costly compare from the previous. It is used free resource like solar power from the sun. It environmentally friend there is no any gas from the machine rather than before. Disadvantage our machine It is used to cut only the grass. It is depended up on the the environment condition of annual analysis of solar power case study. The scope of project we are collecting data about lawnmower grass cutter from primary and secondary and also other sources and take the problem to design more suitable, environmentally friendlily and other scope of the project to design low-cost lawn mower machine.

METHODOLOGY AND DESIGN ANALYSIS The project methodology included how the project started, data collected, organized, to design solar powered lawnmower grass cutter machine is important to achieve safety air and to reduce the cost of its. The method of selection modern and total design of lawnmower makes through Mathematical analysis in form of numbers they have many information this done before material analysis Material analysis in form of select of choice the material to select our design Geometry analysis we must be calculate geometry of design material. Some materials are important in any design of mechanical or others objects such as solar panel, Ac/dc motor, battery and any objects we have used like some material. Books Pdf, text book, hand out. Data collection Ways of data collection for our work Primary source- primary source gain from direct interview and direct observation, for example we asked many persons those are senior mechanics, machine operators. Secondary source -secondary source gain from internet, literature review, referring book and other manuals Organizing data After data collection we are make organize the data in systematic way. We are organizing data by time, our design approach, type of material, Identifying working condition For our design included the working principle of the testing machine and expressed by working flow of the testing machine.

Design of solar panel or pv module Selected solar panel is monocrystalline because it has more efficiency than other types . The required solar panel is depending up on the amount of energy needed to operate the lawnmower grass cutter it is related the amount of power needed by the motor. The cutter depending up on the motor efficiency because the get from the motor. But the size of solar panel is more than this area. The size of solar panel needed for design is 113 .919cmx56.134cmx3.556cm to get the 550watt solar power. So we are concluded to put the solar panel on the top of handle. Design of bevel gear to connect motor shaft to blade shaft We are needed two gears The first one is kept on the motor shaft the second is keep on the blade shaft. the motor shaft arranged to for horizontal circular motion so it is must be changed to vertical circular motion to cut the grass so we are taking the bevel gear.

Solar charge controller selection A solar panel charge controller is the heart of a solar-powered system, responsible for converting solar energy into electricity to charge the battery or the inverter in the system . Battery type Most of the time today selected battery is contain lithium-ion chemical composition. Lithium-ion batteries are lighter and more compact than lead-acid batteries. Inverter selection A solar inverter is the only device that supplies power to the lawnmower load because for now. The load power rate has to be at least of the inverter power rate. Selected inverter is 3 times inverter.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION solar powered lawnmower parameter results. The design needs ac motor, inverter, solar panel, and batteries. Thus, we are included the design of motor efficiency, diameter of shaft, power and torque transmits by the shaft as part of input parameters. Like power transmit we are design the two-bevel gear and we are using equations discussed in detail on project. Recommendation Our grass cutter machine used to cut only the grass but it can develop to cut other grass type products especially for farmers. Such as teff, barley and so no. if it is developed to this type of machine, it minimizes the problem of farmers. Today especially Ethiopian farmers used manual hand to cut the product but if this type of machine will be created, we are solving the energy loss of the farmer. And also, it can be developed to solar powered plough plow . today some world developed countries used tractor to mares and like Ethiopian countries used animals to mares. If it is design solar powered plough plow can consume the fuel if it is used tractor. And if it is used animals, can we solve the tired of animals and farmers with cost minimization. Because solar energy is free energy for world.

CONCULISION This project introduces about the design solar powered lawnmower grass cutter machine.so we are design each component parameter with their specification and material selection for designed machine. And our machine solves the problem of global warning and price of the material even it is related to the deficiency of the fuel in world .and the advantage of our machine is with less price of machine we are get same efficient power from before designed grass cutter. But the disadvantage of the grass cutter is it available for some areas and only used to cut the grass. Finally, after on this project we are given as recommend from next generation to develop this lawnmower idea to solar powered Marsha and other types of grass.
