About This Presentation
An introduction to design of KT weir dams in materials that are more durable and lasting, that can replace the traditional MS materials being currently used.
Managing Innovations
Current scenario:
•Govt Of India puts in lot of investment to build the micro dams such
that farmers can get water for irrigation post the monsoon season and
till the onset of next rains
•Most of the gates get stolen (As MS has a good resale value) or they rust
with in 2 to 3 years – there by loss to the Government and the farmers.
•Max height of these dams is 5 mts.
•
These gates are removed just before monsoon and reinstalled after

•
These gates are removed just before monsoon and reinstalled after the season is over. Thus prone to theft in this period
•Each gate is 2000 mm X 500 mm X 4 mm thick MS Plates
•Weight of each gate is @ 84 Kgs
•Very heavy and cumbersome to install
•Prone to water leakage due to use of an old and faulty design
Managing Innovations
Objective:
•To design the K T weir gates in a material which would last longer
•Should be easy to install and idiot proof
•Should have less value for resale
•Should be available at a right price point
•Should look interesting and attractive
•Should instill confidence that the gates will work as desired
