B. Appraise the roles of a teacher.
C. Perform a short mime about the sacrifices of a teacher to his/her students.

what we have learned last meeting and that is the four types
of English sentences.
Okay class, I’m going to give you a copy of a short story that
entitled “The Difference a Teacher Can Make” by Jaye
Lewis. Listen carefully to the following instructions:
1. Read the short story individually and silently.
2. Unlock the difficult words and give one synonym of
each word.
3. Construct a sentence using the difficult words with
the four types of English sentences for better
understanding.
4. Read the short story again by substituting the
difficult words with simple synonyms.

Sober – having or showing a very serious
attitude or quality.
Example: His eyes were twinkling, but he
maintained a sober expression.
Synonym: Serious
Oddly – in a strange or unusual way. Used to
say that something is strange, odd or surprising.
Example: Oddly enough, he wasn’t as upset by
it as he thought he should be.
Synonym: Strangely
Pinning – to prevent or stop someone or
something from moving.
Example: After the earthquake there were
several people pinned in the wreckage.
Synonym: Prevent
Stubborn – refusing to change your ideas or to
stop doing something.
Example: he concentrated on encouraging the
stubborn horse to head back the way they came.
Synonym: Disobedient
Fazed – to cause someone to fell afraid or
uncertain.
Example: the collapse of part of the scenery
didn’t faze the actors one bit, and they just
carried on.
Synonym: Embarrass
Stench – a very bad smell
Example: We finally discovered the dead rat
that was causing the stench in the basement.
Synonym: Stink
Grim – causing feeling of sadness or worry.
And the last to unlock difficult word is, Ms.____.

For the last instruction you may read the short story again
but this time you’re going to replace the unlocked difficult
words with its synonyms.

Based on what you have read on the short story you may
bring out a ½ sheet of paper and answers the following
questions. Before that we some an activity regarding the
sacrifices of your teachers to you my dear students.
These are the questions:

3. How did Miss White change Steve’s life?
Class you start to answer. Remember class answer the
questions in 2 to 3 sentences only. I don’t like a novel
answer. Understood?

2. The papers of the students at the back must be at the
bottom and the papers of the students at the front
must be at the top.
3. When all papers are already at the front, the row
leaders must pass the papers to the right.

Since we’re done now with our lesson about the four types
of English sentences and we’re already done to read the short

of a teacher to teach a student. It inspires
people who are failed not to be desperate. It
shows us that we can be happy only if we give
ourselves chance to feel happiness. It’s merely
a matter of choice, whether we fill our life with
courage, desire and dream or dump our time
with desperation. It also reminds us not to
under estimate person.
