2. Initial Ideas Whilst interpreting the brief, I began brainstorming ideas that would showcase the region in some capacity. To generate these ideas, I thought of areas I am passionate about and how I could merge the topics I enjoy with what the brief requires me to do. Some of the initial ideas that I decided to not factor into my decision include: a gaming short film where the protagonist would be a gamer, a comedic short film and a thriller. The reason I didn’t want to develop these ideas further alongside other ideas I had was since some of these ideas were not something I was confident I could create up to my standard along with the fact it may not fully align with the brief. Although the comedic short film doesn’t fall into either of these categories, due to how I would want to produce the film (regarding the script), it may not be fully appropriate for my target audience, and I don’t believe I should create something where I have to hold back on what I want to do to that extent therefore these ideas were merely just ideas and didn’t make it to the next stage of development.

3. Expanding the topic After deciding on a handful of ideas and topics I am confident I can create an excellent final product with, I moved onto the next stage of my initial idea which was to expand the topic. Due to already discussing these topics in my ‘researching the subject matter’ PowerPoint, I won’t repeat the ideas I developed further. However, the reason I chose to mainly focus on horror elements with expanding my ideas was due to the fact that the best ideas I had were all within that sector and creating a horror product is one of my strengths therefore I continued with the 3 ideas I had.

4. Why I chose the idea Lastly, the reason I chose to do a short horror film based around anxiety is because it is a topic that I am the most passionate about in comparison to the other ideas. In addition, due to me knowing more on the topic, I feel I can create a better and more informative product with the information I already possess. Moreover, this fits the brief as I will be using actors from the region.
