The second most advanced district in the state, Dharwad is uniquely positioned between Bengaluru and Mumbai and is an important business center in the state. The net irrigated area is 90.4 % to the net area sown 92% of cultivable area under rain fed Per capita production of water through surface sources is 191 MLD and through underground sources 13 MLD Total Water Supply 86.3 MLD Per Capita Water Supply 135 LPCD Power Transmission in the district is being done by Hubballi Electricity Supply Company Limited (HESCOM) Dharwad Bioenergy Private Limited has set up 10 MW Biomass Power Project at Dharwad In wind power segment, projects have been proposed at Hanumanamatti and Kappatagudda The total supply capacity to the district is 335 MVA.
