Meaning & Definition of Recruitment: Meaning: Recruitment is a positive process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating them to apply for the jobs in the organisation. When more persons apply for jobs then there will be a scope for recruiting better persons. Definition: According to Edwin B. Flippo , “It is a process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating and encouraging them to apply for jobs in an organisation.”

Meaning & Definition of Selection : Meaning : Selection is the process of assessing the candidates by various means and making choice followed by an offer of employment. Defination : According to Dale Yoder “Selection is the process in which candidates for employment are divided into two classes those who are to be offered employment and those who are not”.

Difference Between Recruitment And Selection Basis Recruitment Selection Meaning It is an activity of establishing contact between employers and applicants. It is a process of picking up more competent and suitable employees.

Objective It encourages large number of Candidates for a job. It attempts at rejecting unsuitable candidates. Contd..
