INTRODUCTION
The guitar is a plucked
string instrument, usually played with
fingers or a pick.

SITAR
•INTRODUCTION
•The sitar is a
plucked stringed instrument
•predominantly used in
Hindustani classical music,
where it has been ubiquitous
since the Middle Ages.

HISTORIES
•can be traced back over 4000 years
•Dr. Michael Kasha’s research in the 1960

Body with a rigid neck to
which the strings,
generally six in number,
sometimes more,
attached.

strung with animal gut or,
or either nylon or steel
strings(traditonally).

•Derives resonance from
sympathetic strings
• a long hollow neck and
a gourd resonating
chamber.

strings,

played strings which run
over the frets
•Has two bridges;
