TYPES OF CATARACT LENSES
MONOFOCAL IOLs The most common types of cataract lenses are monofocal IOLs. Monofocal lenses only have one focusing distance. Distance Intermediate Near — Depending on your preferences. Most cataract patients choose monofocal IOLs that allow them to focus on things at a distance and use reading glasses when needed .
MULTIFOCAL IOL For those who want to achieve optimum vision at all distances, multifocal IOLs are the cataract lenses for you. Unlike monofocal IOLs, multifocal lenses allow you to see well at more than one distance. Multifocal lenses are usually only used if they can be implanted into both eyes, and will work best for patients who don’t have any eye diseases .
ACCOMMODATING IOLs This type of lens works with the implant inside the eye as it moves to help you focus at various distances.
