CLAIM OF FACT 01

CLAIMS OF FACT are pieces of information which are grounded on reliable authority such as science or history . can be verified, no matter how difficult. They are not dependent merely on a person’s preference, but can be true of false.

Remember: Facts that are universally accepted are not considered claims of facts because there is no more disagreement about their truthfulness. The solar system revolves around the sun.

Santa Claus is real . Cancer is not contagious. The Earth is warming rapidly. The atmosphere has too much carbon dioxide.

CLAIM OF VALUE 02

Claims of value are evaluative statements. They are statements about which is better, more important, more desirable, more needed, or more useful. They may also relate to what is good or bad.

Remember: C laims of Value refer to statements that appeal to a person’s taste and morals or the sense of what’s good and what’s bad. Gay marriage is immoral.

It is better to be feared than loved. Cheating is not good. Buying a house is a lot better than building it. Rock music sucks.

CLAIMS OF POLICY 03

Claims of policy are all about what should be. They prescribe a particular course of action that would lead to a condition. They are usually made in relation to solving societal problems.

Remember: The Claim of Policy advocates a specific course of action. It asserts that specific policies should be instituted as solutions to problems . Almost always "should" or "ought to" or "must" are included in this claim. The mayor should suspend the classes today.

PASO 04 ESQUEMA O RESUMEN No hacer hasta que no se haya comprendido en profundidad. Diferenciar entre esquema que “nos piden” para entregar y un esquema “para estudiar”. El segundo debe ser personalizado. Aunque hay varios tipos (resumen, esquema de desarrollo, de llaves…), cada persona debe usar el que más le ayude (lo que dependerá también del objetivo de estudio). Lo más importante es que el esquema debe servir como guión para memorizar: El objetivo es reducir la información del texto y quedarse con algo más pequeño, pero que contenga toda la información necesaria para recordar Un buen esquema debe ser eficaz: un guion para no tener que volver al texto
