SCANNER – electronic device that scans printed or handwritten text, documents, images or certain objects and converts them into a digital file format.
Once an object is being scanned, it can be displayed on the screen, stored in the storage medium, printed, faxed, attached as an e-mail message, included in another document and posted on a web site or photo community for everyone to see.

6. 4. DRUM SCANNER – used mainly for capturing a picture and producing at a very high resolution rate. It uses photomultiplier tube (PMT) to scan images instead of charge-coupled device.
