D efinition In physics and mathematics, the dimension of a n object is defined as the minimum number of coordinates needed to specify any point within it. For example , a line has a dimension of one because only one coordinate is needed to specify a point on it .
So ,how many are there? 11 DIMENSIONS . The higher dimensions i.e. 7,8,9 &10 D are based on probability and permutation. Since we live in 3D, we can visualize 0,1,&2 D.
Zero dimension A single point is known as zero dimension.
One dimension If we connect two 0 D objects by a line we get the 1st dimension. It has only one fundamental unit i.e. length.
Two dimension Similarly ,if we connect two 1 D objects we get the 2nd dimension. it has two fundamental units i.e. length & height.
Third dimension Like that, if we connect two 2D objects by lines perpendicular to each other we get the 3rd dimension. It has three fundamental units i.e. length, height &width
Fourth dimension It has 4 fundamental units i.e. A hypercube has a length, width, height and a fourth dimension that is perpendicular to all three of the other units.
Tesseract (A 3D projection of a tesseract performing a double rotation about two orthogonal planes)
Tesseract ( The tesseract can be unfolded into eight cubes into 3D space, just as the cube can be unfolded into six squares into 2D space. )
Scientists say that the fourth dimension perpendicular to the other three dimensions is TIME
Fifth dimension In the fourth dimension time is just a reference axis. But in fifth dimension we can travel through space and time i.e. forward and backward in time. Just like walking on the road we could travel through time.
5 D-cube (or penteract)
Sixth dimension In 5 D ,we can go forward and backward through time and space. Now , in 6 th dimension there is an axis perpendicular to the space and time. i.e. if we consider the time line as 1D string the axis perpendicular to it gives the 6 th dimension.
Sixth dimension The sixth dimension thus deals with the multi- verse.
Why can’t we see these dimensions?
Conclusion from the above story The 2D square was not able to see(visualize) the 3D pen. We are bounded to or trapped in this 3D world and we are not able to see the other dimensional objects just like the square in 2D.
