Do does- did

This is a practical and easy way to teach Do- does and did as main verb and auxiliary in present and past tense. It works for basic and intermediate English students.

2. LET´S CHECK OUT THE SUBJECTS PRONOUNS WHAT ARE THE SUBJECTS PRONOUNS? Pronouns are small words that take the place of a noun. We can use a pronoun instead of a noun. Pronouns are words like: I, he , you, she, it, we, they... If we didn't have pronouns, we would have to repeat a lot of nouns. We would have to say things like: Do you like the manager? I don't like the manager. The manager's not friendly. With pronouns, we can say: Do you like the manager? I don't like him. He's not friendly.

3. DO – DOES - DID Auxiliary (Helping) Verbs Auxiliary means functioning in a supporting capacity, and that is exactly what these auxiliary verbs do, which is why they are also known as helping verbs. They are used together with a main verb to give grammatical information and therefore add extra meaning to a sentence; information that is not given by the main verb . Examples: Do you have a pencil? Did they have a pencil? Does he has a pencil?

4. The verb do is one of the most common verbs in English. It can be used as an auxiliary and a main verb. It is often used in questions. Base form = DO Present form = DO/DOES Past form = DID
