WHAT IS DRUG...? DEFINE : A medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or introduced into the body. Drug effects depend heavily on the dose, route of administration, previous exposure to the drug, and the expectation of the user.
How Drugs Are Classified...? Drugs are classified chemically according to how they affect the brain and the body. Some Common classifications or classes of drugs include. Narcotics Depressants Stimulants Hallucinogens Anabolic steroids Inhalants
1. NARCOTICS : A narcotic is a class of addictive drug that reduces pain , induces sleep and may alter mood or behavior . It’s used may have followings side effects including: Drowsiness, itching, sleeplessness, constipation, nausea, vomiting . Example; marijuana, heroin, opium, morphine etc. 2. DEPRESSANTS(Downers): A depressant is a drug that lowers neurotransmission levels , which is to reduce the stimulation in CNS of brain. It suppress the anxiety and sleep disorder. Some side effects are insomnia, headache, weight loss and nausea etc . Example; Alcohol, benzodiazepines (Diazepam) , barbiturates etc.
3. STIMULANTS(Uppers) : Stimulants is the class of drug that increase activity of the central nervous system of the body. Drugs that are pleasurable . Some side effects are anger and panic , Loss of appetite, Increased heart rate, body temperature and Nausea etc. Example ; Caffeine , Nicotine , cocaine, amphetamines, and methamphetamines etc. 4. HALLUCINOGENS: H allucinogen is a psychoactive agent which can cause hallucinations , perceptual errors and errors or c hanges in thoughts , emotion and consciousness . Example ; Phencyclidine, magic mushrooms (psilocybin) and etc.
5. ANABOLIC STEROIDS: A nabolic steroids are steroidal androgens that include natural androgens (testosterone) as well as synthetic androgens to Inc . tissue growth . Some side effects are aggression , high blood pressure, high risk of heart attack and liver damage etc. Example; Androstenedione, Stanozolol ( Winstrol ), Nandrolone ( Deca-Durabolin) and Methandrosteolone ( Dianabol) etc. 6. Inhalants: Inhalants are a broad range of household and industrial chemicals whose volatile vapors or pressurized gases can be breathed in the nose or mouth to produce intoxication. Some side effects are dizziness, loss of consciousness, depression and respiratory problems etc. Examples: any household goods like shoe polish , glue , paint spray, lighter fluid and petrol etc.
Is drugs are beneficial for us or not? Yes! There is the class of Drugs which are beneficial for us and aid in the diagnosis, cure, treatment, or prevention of disease and these drugs know as pharmaceutical drugs(Legal drug) . There are also some Illegal drugs are used with legal medical preparations and some are following: Codeine Cocaine Heroin Anabolic steroids Marijuana Magical mushroom, etc. All the Medicines are drugs but all the drugs are not Medicines .
