Most reflections on ethics applied to artificial intelligence systems focus on compliance issues. Although essential, compliance is only a very small part of ethics. Focusing on legal considerations, compliance does not allow to consider the full spectrum of ethical issues raised by these new technologies. While various players are pushing for greater use of AIS, concerns persist as to the possibility of effective regulation.
In fact, to respond to these concerns, companies' ability to differentiate themselves will depend on their ability to go beyond the simple regulatory framework linked to compliance, and engage in more thorough, realistic and sustainable ethical reflection.
The aim of this presentation is to inform about the benefits of post-compliance ethics, and to explain how to implement it.

In line with the EU fundamental commitment to democratic engagement, due process and open political participation, methods of accountable deliberation to deal with such tensions should be established. For instance, in various application domains, the principle of prevention of harm and the principle of human autonomy may be in conflict. A Matter of Deliberation
