01 Dynamics of Uniform Circular Motion

Table of Contents Mechanics:- Kinematics and Dynamics Uniform Circular Motion Non Uniform Circular Motion Factors Affecting the Uniform Circular Motion Centripetal Acceleration Centripetal Force Applications of Uniform Circular Motion Artificial Gravity Banking of Roads 03

PHYSICS Study of motion with its causes MECHANICS FORCE DYNAMICS KINEMATICS Study of motion without its causes . 04

Uniform Circular Motion 2-Dimensional Motion Direction of velocity changes at every instant Acceleration is directed towards the center Magnitude of Centripetal Force remains constant EXAMPLE :- Motion of earth around Sun , Giant Wheel , etc. . 05 Motion of a body in circular path with constant speed is known as uniform Circular Motion.

Non Uniform Circular Motion Speed is not uniform Non Zero Acceleration Magnitude of Centripetal Force is not constant Net Acceleration of the particle is not radial EXAMPLE :- motion of body in vertical circle 06 Motion of a body in circular path with variable speed is known as Non Uniform Circular Motion .

Period starting point along a uniform circular motion is called period motion. T (s) Frequency frequency of a motion is a number of rotation in some unit of time (s). f (Hz) Angular Frequency is the rotation rate measured in radians. W(red/s) 07 Factors in uniform circular motion

Centripetal Acceleration ( a c) a c = v²/r Centripetal Acceleration is the rate of change of tangential velocity , always directed towards the center . a c in terms of Angular velocity v/r = w a c = - w²r 08

Centripetal Force F c F c = m (v²/r) F c = m r w² Or it can be Centripetal Force is a force that compels a body to move in a circular path . Mathematically 09

10 Applications of Uniform Circular Motion Planets revolving around the Sun Gaint Wheels Artifical Satellite revolving around the Earth The motion of electrons around nucleus The motion of the blades of wind mills The tip of seconds hand of watch A car turning through a curve in a road ( Banking of roads ) The motion of bicycle wheel Stone Tied to a String.

A stimulated gravity or sensation of weight established with in a space craft by means of the crafts rotation , acceleration or deccelaration . What is artificial gravity? 11

Artificial Gravity 12

Could we actually create artificial gravity in space? It  is possible to create "artificial gravity" by spinning your spacecraft or space station. When the station spins, centrifugal force acts to pull the inhabitants to the outside. This process could be used to simulate gravity . Artificial gravity helps astronauts to create a gravitational effect in the space station. It helps them to move and operate easily in space 13

Banking  of  road The phenomenon in which the edges are raised for the curved roads above the inner edge to provide the necessary centripetal force to the vehicles so that they take a safe turn. 14
