eAgriculture ICT Solution Architecture for Agriculture ICTs in agriculture have the potential to facilitate greater access to information that drive or support knowledge sharing. ICTs essentially facilitate the creation, management, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of any relevant data, knowledge, and information that may have been already processed and adapted . Ministry of agriculture and agricultural support institutions (e.g., soil nutrients scientist). In this model, the farmers are presented will all the information they require to make decision on what crop to grow depending on the soil type, nutrients contents, market pricing, weather conditions among others.
Making such informed decisions would definitely increase the production output of the selected product. In this model, tools for specific applications to meet the demand of the farmers are developed. Such tools must avail the data to the database in a format that can be easily integrated and accessed by the farmers on demand. The tools here could be research systems, geographical systems, development of knowledge based systems, decision support system etc.
Need for improved and stable communications infrastructure and internet connectivity. Need to increase and improve formal education and training in ICT that facilitates innovation of new technologies for e-agriculture. Need to generate and disseminate e-agriculture data and information content as a public domain that can be widely accessible and re-used . Need to support applications that integrate data and information or foster the interoperability of applications and information systems, allowing safe and ethical access while protecting necessary rights.
