Instructions: Each group will receive an envelope containing paired letters. Members will arrange the paired letters forming a word connected to the topic “ EARTHQUAKE ” A member will paste the words on a colored paper, and post their work on the board The first group who finished their work first will get 3 stars.

focus The point within Earth is where rocks under stress break, resulting in an earthquake.

epicenter The point on the Earth’s surface is directly above the focus.

magnitude It is a measure of the “size” or amplitude, of the seismic waves generated by an earthquake source.

seismograph An instrument that makes a record of seismic waves caused by an earthquake, explosion or other shaking phenomenon

Intensity It is a measure of the strength of shaking experienced in an earthquake.

Strength “ felt by people ”

Seismic wave The vibration generated by an earthquake, explosion, or similar energetic source and propagated within the Earth or along its surface.
