TOPIC : ECOLOGICAL HIERARCHY DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY Submitted to : Dr. Pratap Srivastava Dr. Prateek Srivastava Submitted by : Sarita Maurya M.Sc 2 nd Sem. SESSION 2023-24

What is meant by ecological hierarchy ? Ecological hierarchy can be simply understood as a natural system that ranks different organisms and living beings in the environment into groups based on threir interactons with each other and the environment Simply it, is an arragement of all organisms and abiotic components present on Earth from the simplest to the most comlpex .

What are the levels to the ecological hierarchy ?

ORGANISM :- Study of individual organism in its environment. FOCUSED ON: Physiology Behaviour Survival strategies Adaptations

POPULATION :- Group of individuals of the same species living in a specific area. FOCUSED ON: Poplution size, Birth rate, Death rate poplution density Age pyramid, poplution abundance poplution dispersion pattern

COMMUNITY :- Different poplution of organisms living together in a particular area and interacting with each other. FOCUSED ON: Species diversity community structure Species interaction

ECOSYSTEM :- An ecosystem includes the community of living organisms along with the physical environment in a particular area. FOCUSED ON: Energy flow Nutrient cycling

LANDSCAPE :- This group considers clusters of interacting ecosystems. FOCUSED ON: Ecosystem interaction Beta diversity Gamma diversity

BIOME :- Biomes are large ecological areas on the Earth’s surface, with flora and fauna adapting to their environment.

BIOSPHERE :- The biosphere is the global ecological system ineracting with all living beings and their relationships with the lithosphere(land), hydrosphere (water) and atmosphere(air).
