Group 1: Affective Domain Taxonomy Members:
What is Affective Domain Taxonomy?
Affective Domain Taxonomy Developed by BENJAMIN BLOOM and DAVID KRATHWOHL his colleagues. Includes learner behaviors indicating attitudes, awareness, attention, concern, interest, and responsibility. It is also often assessed by the learner’s ability to listen and respond in the environment and by attitudes and values appropriate for the field of study.
Parts of the affective domain taxonomy 4 . O rganizing 1. Receiving 2. Responding 3. valuing 5 . Characterizing
1. RECIEVING This involves AWARENESS and willingness to listen or pay attention in the environments, such as ideas, values, or emotional response. At this level, learners are open to receiving information but may not yet have developed a deep understanding or personal connection to the content. Example: A student actively listening to a presentation during class.
2. RESPONDING This is a ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING and reacting to information, showing interest, seeking, and enjoyment with the material or idea. Learners at this level begin to demonstrate interest and participate in discussions or activities that reflects their environment. Example: A student asking question or providing feedback during a discussion.
3. VALU ING This is attaching WORTH or importance to the information learned, internalizing the content, and forming one’s own attitudes or beliefs about it. It is also a crucial stage where learners evaluate the relevance of new concepts to their own experiences. Example: A student demonstrating appreciation for diverse perspectives during a debate.
4. ORGANIZi NG Organizing values and beliefs into a coherent system or framework, prioritizing values, and integrating them into decision-making process. At this level, learners begin to recognize conflicts between values and reconcile them. Example: A student reflecting on ethical dilemmas and integrating principles of ethical decision-making.
5. CHARACTERIZING It is an acting consistently in accordance with the values one has internalized, demonstrating behaviors and attitudes that reflects deeply held beliefs and values. This is the highest level of INTERNALIZATION , where learners’ actions align with their values. Example: A student consistently demonstrating integrity and responsibility in collaborative projects.
