The difference between series and parallel circuits

Series and Parallel Circuits SA MDLETSHE 223110626 Audience: Grade 9 Natural Sciences learners

First, what is a circuit? An electric circuit is an closed path that allows electric current (electrons) to travel from a power source (such as a battery), through conductors (wires), to a device (such as a bulb or resistor), and back to the source.

Types of circuits Two types Series circuit Parallel circuit

Series circuits. one path for current, bulbs share current

How does it work? Current flows in only one partway. If one bulb breaks, All bulbs go off since current cannot pass to the other part of the loop.

Just like the two bridges connected in series, if the other bridge is broken, you cannot pass to the Third Mountain there will be no alternative way to pass.

Example: decorating lights

Parallel Circuits multiple paths, each bulb gets full voltage.

How does its work? More than one pathway for current to flow. If  one of the components in the circuit is broken, no charge will flow along that  path. However,  other pathways will continue to see charges flow through  them since current flows in different pathways

Just like two bridges connected in parallel, even if one bridge is broken, you can still pass to the other mountain.

Example chandelier

How do they differ?
