Electrical measuring instruments

Electrical instruments are instruments that use the mechanical movement of electromagnetic meter to measure voltage, power, current… Electrical technicians require electrical measurement equipment to check the electrical activity and to detect the presence of voltage or current. By using this instrument we can measure electrical parameters such as voltage, frequency, current, power factor, and resistance. Electrical measurements are depended upon either current or voltage while measuring the frequency we will be measuring the frequency of a current signal or a voltage signal.

1. 3. Type of Electrical Measuring Instruments Now we are use two type measuring instruments A: Analog Type B: Digital Type

4. Ammeter An ammeter (from Ampere Meter) is a measuring instrument used to measure the  current  in a  circuit. Electric currents are measured in amperes (A)

5. Voltmeter A voltmeter is an instrument used for measuring electrical potential difference between two points in an electric circuit.

6. Clamp Meter A clamp meter is an electrical test tool that combines a basic digital multi meter with a current sensor.

7. A  multi meter  or a  multi tester , also known as a VOM ( volt-ohm- milli ammeter ), is an electronic measuring instrument that combines several measurement functions in one unit.  Multi Meter

8. Megger The  Megger is the instrument uses for measuring the resistance of the insulation.

9. Continuity Tester A continuity tester is an item of electrical test equipment used to determine if an electrical path can be established between two points.

10. Tachometer A tachometer (revolution-counter, rev-counter, RPM gauge) is an instrument measuring the rotation speed of a shaft or disk, as in a motor or other machine.

11. Watt Hour Meter Watt-hour meter is in fact a measuring device which can evaluate and records the electrical power passing through a circuit in a certain time.

12. Watt Meter The wattmeter is an instrument for measuring the electric power in watts of any given circuit.

13. Frequency Meter A frequency meter is an instrument that displays the frequency of a periodic electrical signal. 

14. Power Factor Meter The power factor meter measures the power factor of a transmission system. The power factor is the cosine of the angle between the voltage and current.
