ELECTRONIC TICKETING MACHINE The Electronic Ticketing Machine (ETM) is a Hand Held Computer, in which the program is stored along with all the relevant data, for issue of tickets in the bus during the journey.
STATUS QUO Paying with cash forces customers to carry around enough money/change all the time. But while paying cash some time we need exact amount.
SOLUTION
VALUE PROPOSITION Generation of bill or r eceipt based on payment collection from customer and updating or transferring the d etails on the spot to server through GPRS facility. Avoid re-entering manually the information of bill or receipt in to computer for record keeping .
The machines will be Radio-frequency Identification-enabled (RFID-enabled) and the operators can issue smart cards compatible with RFID technology for frequent travellers. Over 56 per cent of BMTC passengers use a bus pass . Issuing smart card would enhance the performance.

QUALIFYING METRICS In certain states (AP,TG) government operating almost 65% of long distance bus services. Respective state governments are operating the bus services in cities. All state governments are ready to implement advanced technologies to maximize the revenue. The private long distance bus service operators are targeting frequent business and professional travellers.
DAY AFTER Bus services could be streamlined on real time basis. Operators can plug revenue loss, check fraud. Results have shown the increase in revenue by 4 to 5% on account of introduction of ETM, as the system provides no scope for revenue leakage . Either you can use cards all the time or If you don't have the money in your wallet , you can swipe your card. Passengers can produce the ticket and bank statement as a proof for documentary support.
