1. Week 1 : Line

2. Lines have names that describe their place in space. They may be diagonal, vertical, or horizontal. Lines may be thick or thin, solid or broken. When two lines sit next to each other, they become parallel lines. Lines can be bent into curves and broken into angles.

3. Step by Step: 1 Look around and name examples of lines that you observe On you page draw one line of each type in the boxes. Draw a parallel line to each of the original lines 3 4. Shade on the area between the two parallel lines. 5.Add broken lines in each area. 6. Complete your designs by adding more lines and color.

4. Line Designs Use a black pen to divide your white paper into three areas. You may divide the paper into squares , overlapping shapes, or equal parts. Glue , cut - paper lines to each area. The lines may be thick, thin, solid, or broken. One are should contain only diagonal lines. One area should contain only horizontal lines One are area should contain only horizontal lines.

5. Line Designs Discuss different types of lines that can be created by changing a straight line into one that bends or curves Zigzag Wavy Looped Curly Scalloped . Use construction paper , fold it into eight equal rectangles . Create a different type of line in each box. .

6. Curved and Straight Line Designs: Get white squares On three of the squares draw only straight, bent and angular lines to create a design. On other squares, draw only curved lines to create a design. Glue the squares on to the black paper. .

7. Line Delight: Use white paper, pens or markers. Create a design that begins with two black lines. Lines maybe horizontal, vertical, or diagonal Both lines must travel in the same direction. The lines do not need to be parallel. One line can be curved , and the other bent Create three or more different designs to complete the challenge. YOU can add color. When done glue them to the black construction paper.

8. Create a maze: Use white paper and pens. Fold small sections of the white paper and tear out three interesting shapes. Use fine-tip marker to draw a circular line around of the torns shapes (holes) Before line comes to completion , draw towards the next shape. Circle around the 2nd shape, then draw toward the 3rd shape. Continue the line until you have filled the paper. The goal is to draw one continuous line. You cannot cross over a line, but you can make a U-turn and go backwards.

9. Create a bookmark: Choose three different colored strips. Then have them cut each strip into two pieces with a curved cut. Layer the pieces to create a bookmark. The straight end should always be placed toward the bottom of the bookmark. Glue pieces together You may laminate the bookmark :)
