T he Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Reducing Workplace stress Dr.A.Albert Raj Principal ,dmiec

What is emotional Intelligence Emotional intelligence (EI) refers to the ability to recognize, understand, manage, and effectively use emotions in oneself and others.

How emotions Should be

IQ/EQ High IQ people easily get the job. But they couldn’t get the promotion in their job and they are not successful in their personal life as well.

High EQ High EQ people easily get the job. But they could get the promotion in their job and they are successful in their personal life as well.

What is emotion Impulse to act Urge to Act. Every emotion has a reason behind it

Emotion of surprise We feel surprised when something unexpected occurs. To make sense of what’s happening around us, we instinctively raise our eyebrows as a way to take in more information and better understand our surroundings.

Emotion of sadness When we feel sad, we tend to isolate ourselves. This self-reflection helps us identify the cause of our sadness and work towards overcoming it. If we don’t, the situation could potentially worsen. During this time we should not be happy . We should find the solution and solve as soon as possible.

Early stages of Brain – Emotional Brain When we see a snake, our instinct is to run away. Similarly, when we see something delicious, we naturally feel the urge to eat. They cant differentiate their relations (Wife /sisters)

2nd stages of Brain – Rational Brain When the emotional brain signals something, the rational brain processes it, and the body responds accordingly. Ex: We never get runaway when we see the snake in the zoo

How did we get the emotional Brain The birth of a giraffe is an extraordinary event. It can walk immediately after the birth. Fish can swim immediately after their birth. Similarly most of the animal can survive .but the human being can not survive if they un attended after the birth. Can we leave the baby somewhere. No the baby will die shortly after the birth . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kZW8e79Bm0&pp=ygUQYmlydGggb2YgZ2lyYWZmZQ%3D%3D

How the rational brain evolved. The baby needs the mother to take care . She feeds the food. When it grows the Father teaches him as to how to walk Then friends teach how to play. Then teachers in the classroom teaches how to study. Then company people train them. The Rational brain develops based on the environment. ( Car driving )

Should I disregard my mind voice Your mind may tell that you cannot do a particular thing and you start losing your confidence, it means you are blindly accepting your mind without experiencing the truth.

Example Before I met my swimming coach I had a perception in mind if I entered swimming pool, water would enter my ears and create trouble for me. I was scared of facing interviews in an MNC or a Principal during the initial phase of my career; hence I never appeared for any interview with a. The primary reason, I had a perception in mind that I am not smart enough to work as a Principal. I had been facing interview in a few colleges as Asst.prof .

Example You see a footwear showroom from outside and feel like buying shoes there. Your mind tells you that shoes over there are beyond your budget and reach, and you need not go there. Would you listen to your mind …

Example Lets see some of the Examples in which the minds are allowed to take decisions

Mike Tyson Vs Holyfield In the 1997 heavyweight championship fight between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, the game was governed by specific rules and regulations. In the 9th round, an intense moment occurred when Holyfield accidentally kicked Tyson with his helmet. This led Tyson to lose control, ultimately resulting in the infamous incident where he bit Holyfield's ear https://youtu.be/w7gKpIXMUp4

Miandad Vs Kiran More In the 1992 World Cup cricket match between India and Pakistan held in Sydney, Australia, the batsman Javed Miandad faced bowler Sachin Tendulkar. Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More repeatedly shouted from behind the stumps to distract the batsmen. Frustrated, Miandad lost his composure and famously mimicked jumping like a monkey, much to the astonishment of thousands of fans watching the match. What led him to react that way?" https://www.youtube.com/shorts/qOOKQjuWjlE?feature=share

Dr.Cherian , Heart Specialist Dr. Cherian, a renowned heart specialist with 50 years of experience in heart surgery, tragically ended his own life at the age of 85. Despite saving thousands of lives throughout his career, he made this heartbreaking decision. What led him to such a choice?"

When emotions become overwhelming Malathi told her dad that she was going to her friend’s house. Parents granted permission .. When she left, the house was locked and Malathi's parents also went out. when Malathi arrived, she found out that her friend wasn’t home. She used a spare key to enter her own house and got an idea to prank her parents.

When emotions become overwhelming Malathi mischief in her was awakened. She came out of the house. She locked the door from the outside and entered the house from the back. Malathi's plan is to hide somewhere and frighten her parents when they arrive. In a short while, Malathi's parents returned home. Sensing their arrival, Malathi quickly concealed herself behind a wardrobe. Her father, growing suspicious, sensed something unusual in the room. Grabbing his revolver, he began searching room by room.

When emotions become overwhelming As he approached the wardrobe, he noticed it tremble slightly. Assuming it was a thief, he prepared to shoot. Just then, Malathi suddenly emerged from her hiding place, crying out, "Appa!" Startled, her father fired, tragically shooting his own daughter. After spending 12 days in the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. This tragic incident took place in America in 1994.

When emotions become overwhelming The eyes relayed the visual information to the brain. Before the brain could fully process and identify who was in front, it instinctively triggered the gun. Who initiated this action? This is called intuition.

When emotions become overwhelming All the events mentioned above not only impact the individuals involved but also their loved ones. These actions were impulsive, occurring suddenly and without thought. we all experience intense emotions like anger, stress, shame, fear, sorrow, and even joy. When these emotions become overwhelming, we may act in unexpected ways and often regret our actions afterward.

Reason behind the decision Previously, Tyson fought head-to-head with Holyfield but lost due to headbutts. This incident was a key factor in why Tyson bit Holyfield's ear. The decision was made by Amygdala . … Thatswhy when holy field tried the same headbutts, Tyson got angry and bit the ear. Same thing happened Malathi’s father also. Emergency … Some one behind the wardrobe. Before they attack you attack.. Order given by Amygdala.

What is important for Government Understanding how the government operates, it's clear that its greatest strength isn't just finances or resources, but the information it relies on. Decisions are made based on this information, which the government gathers from various sources, including intelligence and internal agencies

What is important for Government After receiving the information, the government discusses it in Parliament and makes a decision. Prior to this, the information is reviewed by experts who provide detailed insights. Then they take action. This is the correct method.

What is important for Government Is this the process every time? Not necessarily. In emergencies, immediate action is required, leaving no time for standard procedures. During such times, information is directly given to the Prime Minister, who makes the crucial decisions. The priority is addressing the emergency swiftly..

What it does There’s a traffic signal that we both need to follow. If an ambulance comes, the traffic officer will stop us to let it pass. This is how Amygdala works.. When Amygdala gives any order the brain reacts like a Emergency ward in a Hospital . Where they authorities never takes all the tests. They never wait for the forms to be filled up We need not be in a queue. Urgent, Emergency – Act immediately…..

Brain- Structure. Our brain has three key parts: the Thalamus, Visual Cortex, and Amygdala. All sensory information from our body—such as from the eyes, ears, nose, and skin—is sent to the Thalamus. The Thalamus processes this information so the brain can understand it. Next, it’s passed to the Neo Cortex for analysis and decision-making. If the information involves emotions, the Amygdala takes charge

Factory of Emotion- Amikthala This is called intuition.

Factory of Emotion- Amikthala Joy, Sorrow, Fear , Anger, Surprise, Disgust, Love, Shame, Pride etc …

Several key components to control Emotions

Is it possible to overcome Emotion- Self Awareness If Alex, a highly educated and knowledgeable individual, was working as an accounts officer in an office. He had been married for five years, but he and his wife had not been blessed with a child. This had been a source of worry for them both. Despite consulting numerous doctors, they had not found a solution to their problem.

Alex’s Frustration During a New Year’s party at his office, which was attended by all his colleagues, several games were organized. Alex and his wife participated enthusiastically, making it through to the final round after winning all the previous games. As a reward, they were given a special gift, which they were asked to open in front of everyone at the party.

Alex’s Frustration Filled with anticipation, they opened the parcel, only to be stunned by its contents—a baby feeding bottle . Overwhelmed with emotion, Alex angrily threw the bottle away and, with his wife by his side, abruptly left the hall in frustration.

Why Alex behaved like this Lack of Self Awareness. Alex knows their problem. He didn’t practice his mind to control such situations .

Self Awareness – Response for the situation Often we feel like wheezing. Are we keeping inhaler ??. Often I need to travel outside . Aren't we keeping umbrella / Sun glass. These are some kind of measure we take for precaution.

Is it possible to overcome Emotion- 1) Self Awareness He is well aware of the issue, and whenever someone brings it up, it makes us feel anxious and stressed. We should be prepared and practice for this. This is how to control the emotion.

Is it possible to overcome Emotion- 1) Delay the Process There is a match between 2 teams. Both the teams are very curious to win the game.

Is it possible to overcome Emotion- 1) Delay the Process A match was underway between two teams, both eager to win. During the game, Rajiv fouled Shiam , leading to a heated exchange of words between them. The referee stepped in and resolved the situation, allowing the match to continue.

Is it possible to overcome Emotion- 1) Delay the Process( Self Regulation) Spectators outside the ground anticipated that Rajiv might slap Shiam after the match outside the ground , but nothing of the sort happened. As the game progressed, Rajiv's mind changed, and his thoughts became consumed with what might happen next. This is called self regulation . Controlling themselves in every situations. When to react and when to respond….

Delaying the process(Self regulation) Your favorite star's movie is in theaters. You feel like watching the first show. Your Intuition says you have to watch in the 1 st show , when you disregard the intuition you can win the emotion.

Best Self Regulation- Example- Hotel Server) React/response.

Advantage of Self regulation An experiment was conducted with a group of 30 children, all aged 4 years old. A piece of chocolate was placed in a room, and the children were allowed to eat it if they wished. At that time Headmaster called him. Before leaving the room, the Teacher set a condition: any child who waited without eating the chocolate until his return would receive an additional piece as a reward.

Advantage of Self regulation Few children took the chocolate immediately. Few others waiting for the teacher to return and got 2 chocolates. After 14 years they wrote the entrance exams. Their marks were verified with all the 30 adults Those students who have waited for the teachers to returned secured more marks than others.

Advantage of Self regulation Impatient people tend to have less concentration because they prioritize their emotions. As a result, much of their brain's capacity is taken up by emotional responses.

Conclusion 1) People who struggle to control their emotions often become angry, get into conflicts, and frequently raise their voices 2) These individuals are aware of their heightened emotions but do not make significant efforts to manage them 3) Third category people They understand the reason for their emotions. They knows when and who create these emotions. So they escape from the problematic situations.

Conclusion 3) Third category people They understand the reason for their emotions. They knows when and who create these emotions. So Behave like 3 rd Category Then you can master the mind and the life will also be successful.
