Recalling the standards on listening Asking the Motive question

Story: The Legend of Mariang Makiling Maria, the enchantress of Makiling , had no peer in beauty nor in goodness. Her face was bright as the sun . Her complexion was extremely smooth and fair . Her hair was long and her face was extremely beautiful .

Maria was kind and generous. She would not punish the men who hunted the birds and the animals she loved. Instead , M aria would offer them food and drinks when they were hungry and thirsty. She would give them fresh fruits to bring back to the town. These , upon their surprise, the fruits would turn into gold.

In disguise, Maria would walk among the people in the town . She would attend weddings and feasts and would even give gifts to the people.

Maria loved one thing-white hens . If she ever asked for any gift in return for the good things that she did, she would ask for a white hen.

Marias kindness seemed to have no end. People were not content with what she gave them. They would often steal from Maria. They would steal ginger in the forest knowing that ginger picked from Makiling would turn into gold. They killed animals and cut down trees . They abused Maria’s kindness.

Soon , Mariang Makiling could not seen anymore . People noticed their harvest had dwindled . They felt Maria’s absence .

One night , a heavy storm came and destroyed the countryside. The people heard the loud, vengeful laughter of Mariang Makiling . Now , whenever people take anything from Mt . Makiling , they are always beset by rains and storms.
