Environment and the role of humans in its degradation Presented by : Anup Kumar Khushal Singh

ENVIRONMENT : FOUNDATION OF LIFE Provides air, water, soil & sunlight Source of food, shelter & resources Maintain natural cycles & balance Regulates climate & weather

Eco-Threads: Weaving Human Life Air: Breath of life Soil: Foundation of food & shelter Water: Vital for survival Energy: Powering growth & progress Sustainability: Key to secure our future

Roots of Ruin… Deforestation: loss of forests, biodiversity decline Industrialization: pollution & overuse of resources Urbanization: land conversion, waste & crowding Together, these cause climate change, habitat loss & health risk

The Roots of Contamination Vehicles: smoke & emissions Industries: toxic gases & waste Improper waste disposal: land & water pollution Excessive use of plastics & chemicals Agriculture: pesticides & fertilizers

Toxic Footprints Health problems (asthma, cancer, lung issues) Climate change & global warming Damage to aquatic life & biodiversity Soil infertility & ecosystem imbalance Reduced air & water quality

The Climate Shift Greenhouse gases trap heat in atmosphere Rising temperatures causing global warming Melting glaciers & rising sea levels Extreme weather events Threat to biodiversity & human health

Exhausting Earth Mining : land degradation, deforestation, water pollution Overfishing : loss of marine biodiversity Fossil fuels : air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions Consequences : Resources depletion, climate change, ecological imbalance

Waste: The Plastic Crisis Massive Global Waste Over 2 billion tons of waste produced annually worldwide. Plastic Pollution 400 million tons of plastic produced each year; only 9% recycled. Environmental & Health Impact Plastics pollute land, oceans, and wildlife, affecting ecosystems and human health.

Echoes of Extinction… Rapid Species Decline 1 million species face extinction due to habitat loss, pollution, and climate change. Ecosystem Collapse Loss of biodiversity disrupts food chains, reduces ecosystem stability, and weakens resilience. Impact on Human Well-being Plastics pollute land, oceans, and wildlife, affecting ecosystems and human health.

Conservation: Our Duty Protect Natural Habitats Preserve forests, oceans, and wildlife to maintain ecosystem balance. Sustainable Practices Adopt eco-friendly choices: reduce, reuse, recycle, and support sustainable industries. Educate and Advocate Raise awareness about the importance of conservation and influence policy changes.

Global efforts Paris Agreement on climate change, aiming to limit global warming to below 1.5°C. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . United Nations (UN), World Health Organization (WHO), and other organizations leading global health, environment, and peace initiatives.

CONCLUSION Our planet is reaching a tipping point—inaction today will have irreversible consequences. Shift to a circular economy: Recycle, reuse, and redesign systems for a waste-free future. The future of Earth is in our hands; we can still make a difference.
