Environmental HAZARD of OUTDOOR R E C R E A T I O N

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS Outdoor recreational activities have so much to offer to people. These includes fun and pleasure, general wellness of an individual, and sometimes environmental hazard.

Mishaps are avoidable. The most effective way to prevent them is to adequately prepare for the trip that includes knowing the environmental hazard you may encounter during the outdoor recreational activity.

The principle of “safety first” holds a significant implication of preventing the various injuries in an outside activity. Risk Management in Outdoor Recreation

There are many factors wherein injuries may happen outdoors which we have no control over: Sudden rockfall Landslides Human error Extreme weather condition Risk Management in Outdoor Recreation

What Happens Without Risk Management? Risk Management in Outdoor Recreation

There are still a lot of questions about the accident, which occurred on a student group trip led by a city guide, on a day with windy weather and choppy waters . Several kayakers were in the lake and three fell into the lake about noon as result of high waves caused from wind , the office said in a news release. Both appeared to be suffering from hypothermia and were taken to Spokane hospitals, one by helicopter and the other by ambulance. One was pronounced dead at the hospital.
