Environmental Problems And Solutions
Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of environmental problems and solutions can be both challenging
and enlightening. The difficulty lies not only in the vastness of the subject matter but also in the
delicate balance one must strike between presenting the severity of environmental issues and
proposing viable solutions.
Firstly, researching the myriad environmental problems across the globe can be overwhelming.
From climate change and deforestation to pollution and loss of biodiversity, the sheer volume of
issues demands thorough investigation. Understanding the intricacies of each problem and their
interconnectedness is crucial for presenting a comprehensive and well-informed perspective.
Secondly, identifying effective solutions requires critical analysis and creativity. It's not enough
to merely highlight the problems; the essay must delve into innovative and practical solutions
that can address the root causes. This involves studying successful environmental initiatives,
policy implementations, and technological advancements.
Furthermore, maintaining a balanced tone is essential. While emphasizing the gravity of
environmental problems, the essay should also inspire hope by showcasing successful strategies
and encouraging collective action. Striking this delicate balance ensures that the essay motivates
readers to engage with the issues rather than succumb to despair.
Finally, structuring the essay logically and coherently is a challenge in itself. The content should
flow seamlessly from problem presentation to solution discussion, creating a persuasive narrative
that captures the reader's attention and maintains their interest.
In conclusion, writing an essay on environmental problems and solutions demands thorough
research, critical analysis, creativity, and a delicate balance between highlighting the severity of
issues and proposing viable solutions. It's an endeavor that requires dedication, passion, and a
commitment to fostering awareness and change.

Sound Of Music Essay
The Sound of Music
Can you imagine that it has been 50 years since the classic and heartwarming
movie The Sound of Music was released? It is most meaningful for me because
when the movie came out in movie theaters on March 2, 1965 I was 8 years old
and my dad took me to see this movie. Two years later the movie was again in
theaters, I have just forgotten what holiday time it was released for, and this time I
went with my mom and my dad had passed away. Here are some interesting and
perhaps unknown facts about The Sound of Music .
Rights to the movie
The real Maria Von Trapp wrote her book about her life The Story of the Trapp
Family Singers and it was published in 1949. The Trapp Family ran into monetary
problems in 1955 and Maria sold the rights to German movie producer Wolfgang
Reinhardt for a mere $9,000. However we must consider the fact that in those days
this amount of money was worth a whole lot more than it would be in today s
terms. What I do find amazing is that Maria and the Von Trapp family never got any
royalties from the two German movies that were released based on their life nor did
they receive anything from the Broadway production of The Sound of Music which
ran for over three years or from the movie, which brought in about $300 million.
Now surely they should have received a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Broadway version at the Lundt Fontaine Theater in New York City starred
Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel. Since this musical proved to be a big hit 20th
Century Fox bought the movie rights for $1.25 million. The reason that the movie
was almost not made was that the making of the movie Cleopatra put such a drain
on studio reserves that for some time Fox shut down. When Richard Zanuck took
over the production of Fox studios this film was once again put up for consideration.
It would have been such a shame if it had never seen the light of day.

Physical Activity Intervention Paper
Our third week of the physical activity intervention has been the most successful so
far out of the first two weeks. My group members and I were able to obtain much
more data on student s height and weight in the third week due to class rosters that
were given to us by Ms. Moser to easily find and organize students in their physical
activity class. My group members and I are doing well in our intervention and we
met up to discuss on how our research project is going along and how everyone is
doing in their part of the project. My group members and I only have one more week
for the intervention, so a challenge for the last week of the intervention would be to
promote and motivate the students to continue their engagement in physical activity
after the program is over. If my group members and... Show more content on

Aerobic fitness has proven to reduce and prevent a significant amount of
cardiovascular disease risk among children, which children are at most risk of
developing cardiovascular disease as they grow older (Clark, 2015). Aerobics are
exercises that causes quick breathing such as running, swimming, and hiking,
which is healthy for an individual s heart if they engage in these types of activity.
Some individuals find aerobic exercises difficult and boring, so they do not engage
in aerobics and may cause cardiovascular disease issues in the long run. Aerobics
does not have to be running or swimming but it can be dancing or kickboxing
because they still cause heavy breathing. As a physical activity promoter, I want to
promote entertaining aerobic sports that fits the individual s needs to engage in order
to engage in some kind of aerobic activity to prevent cardiovascular

Electoral College Reform Essay
In order to fully understand the underlying problems of the Electoral College we
have to look back at the time that the idea of the Electoral College itself was
proposed and see how the culture of the time and the ideologies of the people
involved helped shaped the final outcome. Life today is much different than it was
two hundred odd something years ago, and it s fair to say that the political ideals and
social norms around our society have changed drastically. When the founding fathers
sat down at the table to discuss the process of the national electionof the highest
office of the land they had a lot of things on their minds. For starters the country as
they knew it was composed of 13 states, each with a cut throat either be in... Show

If we were listening in on the conversation going on at the table we would be able to
see that there were three predominant theories on how the president should be
elected. The first idea was for Congress to choose the president by voting on the
candidates they saw fit. (Hendricks) The main problem with this idea was the tilt of
power towards the legislative branch. If the legislative branch was given this
express power of ushering in the executive not only would it tilt the balance of
power towards the legislative but it would also open the door wide to corruption and
bargaining. The second option on the table was the election of the president of the
United States by the state legislatures (much like the Senators were first elected).
(Hendricks) The biggest fear behind this idea was the possibility of an executive
that was too intertwined with the state, an executive who slowly worked with the
state and helped them erode the power of the central government. This would
undermine the whole idea of the republic that the founding fathers were trying to
build and thus was an idea that was quickly disregarded. The third and final
proposal was the direct election of the president by the people, or now more
famously known as the popular or national vote. (Smith) The biggest problem behind
this proposition is the likeliness of the electorate to vote for a favorite son or a figure
that they identify with personally rather than politically and

Ai Weiweei Research Paper
The way art can be activism is to spread messages through art to promote change or
awareness. Artist can does this in many ways such as painting or drawing political
art to express their opinion. Other artist can do performance art or take photographs
to spread awareness or send a message. Ai WeiWei is a chinese artist and activist
that created many controversial pieces of art towards the chinese government. His
activism started when he saw how the chinese government handled the devastating
earthquake in 2008. On may 12 2008 a 8.0 earthquake hit Chengdu, in China.Over
69,000 people lost their lives in the quake, including 68,636 in Sichuan province.
374,176 were reported injured, with 18,222 listed as missing as of July 2008.The

Other forms of art or actions that could be perceived as art created by Ai WeiWei
to express activism against the chinese government would be many photographs of
him flipping off chinese government monuments and buildings this is all his forms
of art to express himself and spread a message. One big project was creating a moral
out of backpacks in memory of a 7 year old girl who dies in the earthquake this is an
example of art being used to remember a life and many other lives lost. A very
controversial work of art he did was write coca cola on a sacred political chinese
vase and posted a video of him breaking it this is to highlight how people dwell on
destroying a vase and consider it wrong or immoral to china but its to show how
the same kind of destruction happens everyday without people really thinking
about. Another motivation for doing this by Ai WeiWei was to express how the
past should be destroyed and quoted a slogan saying we can destroy the old world but
we can also build a new

Essay On Elizabeth At Tilbury
This primary source, is a historical text, a transcription of a speech by Elizabeth I,
Queen of England, in fact, there are at least two main versions of this important
speech. To understand the importance of the speech we must remember that at that
time England and Spain have been with intermittent conflicts. At this period Spain,
that was ruled by Philip II and England was ruled by Elizabeth I. The relations
between Elizabeth I and Philip II had always been tough, with a lot of
disagreements: political, economic and religious. Philip had even prepared
England invasion since the beginning of his reign, we know that by 1574 he had
already prepared a flee composed by 300 boats and around 30.000 men in Santander,
under Pedro Menendez de AvilГ©s but the plague were even AvilГ©s died ruined his
purpose. They had religious differences, Philip was catholic while she was protestant.

In an article, Susan Trye, University of Wyoming, describes what she calls the The
myth of Elizabeth at Tilbury , she quotes some writers who had studied Elizabeth s
biography. A steel corselet was found for her to wear and a helmet with white
plumes was given to a page to carry. Bareheaded, the Queen mounted the white
horse. The Earl of Ormonde carried the sword of state before her, Leicester walked
at the horse s bridle, and the page with the helmet came behind, writes Elizabeth
Jenkins in a biography of the 1950s. She rode through their ranks on a huge white
warhorse, armed like a queen out of antiquemythology in a silver cuirass and silver
truncheon. Her gown was white velvet, and there were plumes in her hair like those
that waved from the helmets of the mounted soldiers. (Carolly Erickson s version of
the 1980s). By what she mentions this version is from a letter written by Dr Leonel
Sharp to the Duke of Buckingham in 1623/1624 as he recalled Elizabeth I s famous

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy
What are Trigger Points?
Commonly referred to as myofascial trigger points in the medical profession, these
locations on your body are a common cause of discomfort and pain. These areas
commonly produce referred pain, meaning that pain from this area can be found in
other muscle groups and joints away from the source of the pain itself. This is why
myofascial discomfort in one s spine or shoulder often causes headaches and neck
pain.
What Causes This Pain?
This intense pain can come from a variety of sources, including bad posture, excess
weight, physical injury or stress, joint problems, vitamin and mineral deficiencies,
and even poor sleep. If you are suffering from joint pain or spinal pain, you may have
visited a medical professional and been told that it was a result of a weak or injured
joint, or even a bulging or misaligned disc. However, the pain quite possibly could
have resulted from a trigger point issue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Office professionals often develop severe pain from sitting in the same position all
day long and by using their keyboard and mouse in the same manner day in and day
out for years. Additionally, video game users frequently report pain from their
steady use of their hands and fingers in an unnatural way. Assembly line workers,
construction workers, and even gardeners can suffer from similar pain as a result of
repetitive motion. This sort of pain is also found fairly regularly in new mothers,
who suffer hip pain as a result of carrying their newborn around with them.
Another common culprit of this type of pain is poor posture due to infrequent
exercise and strength training. Additionally, those that suffer from consistent stress
often face pain as well. Constant muscle clenching and physical tension can take a
toll on the body, leading to muscle imbalances and chronic pain.
How Can Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy

Comparing The Book And Tuck Everlasting The Movie
This will be a compare and contrast about Tuck everlasting the book and Tuck
everlasting the movie. Same story, but differences throughout the movie and book.A
story about an everlasting family and a girl Winnie Foster. This will be three
paragraphs that have same and differences although the paragraphs. The similarities
between the book and the movie were that Mea was going to get sent to the gallows
to die for what she had done. Also, Mea hit the man in the yellow suit on the head

characters in both book and movie. My fourth similarity is when Winnie found Jesse

Conformity In Harraway s Essay On Cyborgs
In most cases, finding the median between two highly contrasting points can be
challenging, but it is not so for Haraway s idea of cyborgs and Twain s idea of
conformity. Both concepts are interrelated because the cyborg is the hybrid of
both machine and organism, and conformity, is the center of standing out and
barely noticeable . By applying Mark Twain s idea that conformity is a result of
self approval to Donna Haraway s argument that cyborgs are the ramifications of
different political and economic social systems, we can see that because of
Haraway s idea that cyborgs are the balance between two opposites, the same can be
said of conformity in Twain s essay, and so conformity is a result of different
societal states due to the idea... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cyborg acts as a metaphor for the postmodernist view of the world as well as
the introduction to new technology. To Haraway, the blend between nature and
civilization gives birth to the cyborg, as it is a hybrid of machine and organism
(pg. 1). As part of her argument, the dualistic division between biology and
technology is no longer present because of the cyborg, and she incorporates the
idea of feminism because she is trying to achieve the same sense of balance of
distribution of power between male and female dominants as in cyborg reality.
Since the cyborg does not exist in nature or culture, and because it is a hybrid, its
extent is not limited by dualist archetypes. Haraway sees the cyborg as the
illegitimate offspring of militarism and patriarchal capitalism, not to mention state
socialism. (pg. 2) She feels as if different social systems have merged nature and
civilization together which explains the reason behind the birth of the cyborg but
their origins are irrelevant because the cyborg s existence is derived from multiple
sources and they are often exceedingly unfaithful to their origins. (pg.

Naturalism in Jack London s To Build a Fire Essay
Naturalism in Jack London s To Build a Fire
This essay has problems with format
When Jack London wrote To Build a Fire he embraced the idea of naturalism
because it mirrored the events of daily life. Naturalism showed how humans had to
be wary at every corner because at anytime death could be there, waiting for them to
make a mistake and forfeit their lives. He used naturalism, the most realistic literary
movement, to show how violent and uncaring nature really is and how no matter
what you do nature will always be there. London also presented the basic idea of
Darwinism and the survival of the fittest, basically if you are dumb you will die.
Collectively, London used naturalism to show how in life, humans can depend on

When the man was trying desperately to re light the fire he removed his gloves and
lost all feeling in his hands. If he had remained calm and thought about his
situation he might have had a chance to survive. Nature showed no mercy when
the man attempted to re light the fire using only his palms, and he failed. He was
losing his battle with the frost. It was creeping into his body from all sides. (1754)
The man s unfortunate mistakes cost him his life and nature felt no sympathy for
him. He was just another man who failed to defeat nature for one more day. If the
man had brought along a companion for the journey like the old man in the town
had suggested he would still be alive. However, his stubbornness would not submit
to that. The old timer on Sulfur Creek was right, he thought in the moment of
controlled despair that ensued: after fifty below, a man should travel with a
partner. (1752). Instead the man brought a wolf dog with him to keep him
company. The only thing that the dog was good for was as an outlet for the man s
jealously when he realized all the mistakes he had made. The man envied how the
dog could just sit in the snow and his warm fur would protect him from the
elements. The mistakes that the man made reflect everyday life by showing how
just one accident or miscalculation can cost you your life. Naturalism utilized the
environment to show how fierce and apathetic the world can be. In the opening
scene of To Build a Fire London used a bleak

Narrative Essay On The Unknown Refugees
The Unknown refugees June 29th of 2017
The starless sky was casket black and brooding. Even the clouds seemed morose.
Gelid hands clasped algid steel as we gazed upon our foe. The cold north wind
keened and mewled through both the valley and the soules of our men. The clouds
cleared as their spears glimmered cruelly under the eerie moon. Its phantom flame
sent ribbons of chrysalis silver light spilling onto the upraised shields of our men.
The monsters swarmed and swayed below us like corn in a field, yet it seemed
there were more of them than a thousand bushels could hold. Our commander
raised our proud pennant aloft in defiance. It represented our dreams, our lives and
our salvation. If it was taken, it would mean we were dead. They crashed upon the
castle walls as our commander screamed, Fire! in desperation. Their iron shod feet
clapped off frozen ground like the rumbling of thunder. A tempest of wicked, barbed
fire arrows soared into the sombre sky. They sizzled and sizzled before hitting their
targets. Fountains of magma red blood sprayed into the air. It was butchery. We
hoped that we would survive that day. The monsters swarmed forward like a plague
of ravenous locusts. Their iron ladders were thunking and clanging off the castle
walls. Saurian eyes, were festering with hatred for us. Slithering sound of thousands
of swords being unsheathed were frightening just like a massive nuclear bomb being
dropped. The ground was glazed with

Artificial Reproductive Technology ( Art )
Artificial Reproductive Technology paper Artificial reproductive technology
(ART) is defined as procedures which stimulate a woman s ovaries to produce
eggs, the eggs are then removed, combined with sperm, and then returned to a
woman s body (Bell, 2016). ART is becoming more and more popular throughout
that globe. This method of conceiving children gives women who may be
struggling with infertility options that were not possible before the advent of such
methods. ART is relevant to the sociological definition of global health because it
is evidence of the fact that our world has become interdependent especially when it
comes to medical technology. However with ART comes the notion of the culture
of disguise and in many countries this is an integral part of artificial reproductive
technology process. With that being said, sociologists should look to study and
understand the culture of disguise in ART as it pertains to global health and it
shapes interactions between people and the society they live in. To understand the
culture of disguise one has to have a firm grasp of infertility and the myriad of
ART methods. Infertility is defined as not being able to conceive after one year of
unprotected intercourse, and after 6 months if the woman is older than 35 years of
age (The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015). The most common
method used by women and families is in vitro fertilization (IVF) (Bell, 2016,
February 16). In vitro fertilization involves ovarian

United States Postal Service In Flying Like An Eagle
For over two centuries, people relied on the United States Postal Service (USPS) as
a way to receive their letter and packages from people around the country. It is their
only way where a person can obtain a parcel when there are no technologies to
assist them. Nowadays, in the modern world, there are different kinds of ways
where one can receive a package or a letter, from an email or other companies. This
results in the USPS decreasing its values. In order for the USPS to keep up with
the fast paced society, it should consider changing their ways of working. Before
when automations were nowhere to be seen, people demand USPS to deliver their
mails everyday. Sometimes when there is a large package, it might take weeks for
the letters to reach their destination. So retailers assist delivering the packages in a

The Picture Of Dorian Gray Quote Analysis
Beauty or Intelligence The writer of The Picture of Dorian Gray Oscar wilde in
1890 states Beauty is form of Genius is higher, indeed, than Genius, as it needs no
explanation. It is one of the great facts of the world, like sunlight, or springtime, or
the reflection in the dark waters of that silver shell we call the moon. It can be
implied that wilde believes the being beauty equals intelligences, this is seen when
he states Beauty is form of Genius. With beauty meaning is an pleasant or appealing
thing or person , and genius being someone who is exceptional intelligence.
Furthermore showing that beauty is equal to intelligence. More so however , goes
own to state that beauty is superior to intelligence by stating is higher, indeed, than
Genius, as it needs no explanation. This is shown with higher meaning better or with
more than genius which means intelligence. Implying that wilde valued beady over
intelligence and what in a person s head. Going on to imply that this should be

Wilde was an frim support of the aestheticism movement, which is a movement that
states art was meant for beauty alone and not for an hidden agenda. This give
credence to why he would say something like quoted above. He was also alive
during the victorian age of england were arts and literature flourished with works
being created by Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling and , Bronte Sisters. While
advocating for the aestheticism movement he toured Canada and the U.S. talking
about the beauty of the arts. Giveing that the art were flourishing and him being apart
of the aestheticism show that he want people to see that the arts should be taken
seriously , and see an beauty and not just used for politics or other hidden

The Statute Of Limitation On Rape And Sexual Assault
Many cases throughout time have not resulted in a conviction being made, for the
sole reason that the charges exceeded the statute of limitations. The statue of
limitations is defined as the maximum amount of time allowed for a party to initiate
legal proceedings (Legal dictionary, 2016). Present day, every state is entitled to their
own statute of limitations on rapeand sexual assault. 34 States currently have a
statutes of limitations on rape/sexual assault. Some of these states have a statute of
limitations but there is a DNA exemption rule, ruling that if a DNA match is made
later than the statute then that case will be exempt from the statute of limitations.
Only 16 states have no statute of limitations for rape and sexual assault (Filipovic,
2016, p .A23). The Bill Cosby case is a perfect example of when the statute of
limitations is harmful. America loved the comedian, Bill Cosby (age 78), for years
until the sexual assault allegations came to surface. Over 50 woman have accused
Bill Cosby of sexual assault throughout the last couple decades, but many courts were
not able to convict Cosby due to the statute of limitations taking precedent. In some
cases lawsuits were enough to quiet the victims (accusing Cosby). There was still one
young woman, Andrea Constand, who accused Cosby of raping her in 2004 in Cosby
s mansion in Pennsylvania(occurring within the statute of limitations) (Filipovic,
2016, p . A23). Pennsylvania s statute of limitations for rape and sexual

Many people are different in many ways, race, color, gender, personality, and
nationality. These are common things people get discriminated from, because of
what religion they believe in or even their skin color. Martin Luther King Jr. did
not agree or like this. He wanted change. He didn t give up on African Americans
who got judged because of their skin. I have a dream that my four little children
will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin,
but by the content of their character. For Example, Nelson Mandela fought against
South African apartheid, Rosa Parks fought for black freedom just like MLK did,
and Malala Yousafzai fought for women s rights and education. Out of all these
examples of heroic people, this is why Martin Luther King Jr. is a hero.... Show more

Jesus Teaching on Satan and the Demons
Introduction The modern world has many misconstrued ideas about Satan and his
demons that are not in line with Jesus teachings in Scripture. Today the world sees
Satan in an almost comical way, if they believe in him at all. There is such a lack
of belief in anything spiritually supernatural that the idea of demons is less
acceptable to today s society than the idea of ghosts. In Jesus time, this was not the
case; people were well aware of Satan and his activities. Jesus often had to deal with
things of this nature, and addressed the matter several times in Scripture. The
difference between what Jesus had to say on the matter and what the world says
today is monumental. Satan plays a major role in many religions, either as an... Show

Here Satan, the Yetzer ha Ra and the angel of death are the same personality. In
times of danger he brings accusations. Although he has power over all the works of
man, he cannot triumph over two people of different nationality at the same time.
This is why a noted astronomer, physician and teacher of the Law, Samuel, would
only travel when accompanied by a Gentile. The belief was that Satan s knowledge
disappears when the shofar is blown on New Year s Day. Because the numerical
value of the letters of his name only adds up to 364, one day (the Day of
Atonement) a year his power vanishes. One rabbi states that not only was Satan an
active agent in the fall of man, but also the father of Cain. He was also
instrumental in the offering of Isaac and the release of the animal destined by
Esau for his father. The sin at Sinai, the death of Moses, David s sin with

their response was that Satan had been too mighty for them. Satan in the Apocrypha
In the book of Wisdom, Satan is represented as the father of all lies, who brought
death into this world. Satan was the seducer and paramour of Eve, and was hurled
from Heaven, with other angels, because of this sin. Since then he has been called

Ethnomethodology, Beliefs And Social Norms
In America, we don t take preference for either hand when doing activities and such
although, its universally known to shake hands with your right hand.

Middle East and different parts of Africa, it is frowned upon using you left hand
because, you re only supposed to use your left hand for sanitary reasons (AKA
going to the restroom or throwing out trash). Hence, if you greet someone with your
left hand, touch them, or touch food its disgusting and considered an insult in most
cases. To add, in countries that have a high Buddhist population it is a sin to touch
or pat someone on the head. It s a sin because it is believed that the head is sacred
since it hold the spirit of the individual. With that being said, when you see a cute kid

In order to create a balance and to make sure that you re being respectable to the
given culture, it s best to educate yourself prior and with the aid of
ethnomethodology. Ethnomethodology allows you to disrupt social norms while at
the same time learning about them hence, giving you a better insight on unwritten
rules. In addition, by going with the functionalist approach you re then maintaining a
state or balance within the society since you re conforming to the social norm of
that region. Overall maintaining social stability is symbolic interactionism as well
since it examines the bigger picture so to speak since how you interact within your

The Contributions Of College Athletics
College athletics have become one of America s most lucrative businesses grossing
billions of dollars off of student athletes and competing against the entertainment
giants, however, this has not always been the case. In a way, the student athlete has
become our culture s holy man as he or she is admired for their immense feats of
athleticism and skill on the gridiron or the court. To understand the miraculous story
of the change of the student athlete, an individual must first look at the origin of the
term student athlete. In the 1950s, Ray Dennison died from a blunt force cerebral
trauma received while playing football in Colorado for the Fort Lewis A M Aggies.

As a result, student athletes have struggled to maintain their GPA. Furthermore, the
graduation rates for power five conference universities (PAC 12, BIG 10, SEC,
ACC, and BIG 12) are horrendous because of the lack of time allocated for
academics. For example, in 2010, the average graduation rate for March Madness, the
NCAA Basketball championship tournament, teams was 43%, an unacceptable rate.
On the other hand, the increase in hours spent per week has caused student athletes to
identify more as athletes than students (Best college online). A direct effect of the
universities admitting college athletes that are not ready is students cannot complete
basic general education classes. According to Mary Willingham, a learning specialist
at the University of North Carolina, there were basketball players at the University of
North Carolina who were illiterate. All in all, the shift of student athletes to solely
athletes is unacceptable, however, can be solved by the following: have an agency
within the NCAA to keep universities accountable for rule violations that disrupt the
learning of athletes, use revenue generated from the student athletes to provide
academic support to ensure learning, and/or have a third party agency keep
universities accountable for rule violations.
The first proposed idea that would place precedence on the student aspect of being a
student athlete is

Comparison Of Interstellar, By Christopher Nolan, And...
We all dream of an ulterior world, a world in which we picture a perfect life with no
struggles, problems, or pandemics. Both Interstellar, by Christopher Nolan, and
Station Eleven by Emily Mandel, depict their characters as struggling not only with
survival, but their sense of their own identity and security. Within Station Eleven, the
saying, survival is insufficient is a recurring theme of Interstellar as well. While there
are some differences in the characters and themes within Interstellar and Station
Eleven, the similarities are the connections to their identity in which they adapt to the
force of change within their world. As the characters struggle with adapting, they
cling to certain things that allow them to remain sane. As a result, the characters feel
like they have a purpose again due to their struggle for survival.
Within their harsh and collapsing worlds, Murph and Kirsten are the puzzle pieces
that connect their stories together. For example, Murph cracks the code of the theory
of gravity with the help of her ghost, her father within the third dimension, providing
her the missing information that saves their planet from extinction. All that time,
Murph tediously trying to figure out what her ghost was trying to communicate,
Murph finally makes the realization that he came back! It was him! All this time... I...

Bowling Alley Descriptive Story Essay
As a child, driving to the bowling alley with my mother on Saturday mornings was
always such a great feeling. Weekdays on the school bus were spent counting down
the days until I got to go bowling again. As I drove there alone for the first time in
over ten years, that same nostalgic feeling filled my core. But for some reason my
nerves were higher that day than they had ever been. Talking myself down wasn t
working. This wasn t just any day at the lanes for me. This was the return something
that I had an infinite passion for. There was nothing I could do about the plethora of
emotions I was feeling.
I pulled into the parking lot of the bowling alley off of a long, bumpy road with
potholes. At this time I was shaken up physically and ... Show more content on

It was impossible to not watch the bowlers surrounding us while gearing up. The
sounds of the balls crashing into the pins were making my heart race. After
tightening my shoes accordingly, I grabbed my two bowling balls, one at a time,
and placed them on the ball rack. I was moments away from my first throw in a
decade.
As a competitive bowler in my young age, I always had a preference of going last
in order. Keeping the tradition, I was the last to throw on this day as well. I finally
approached the lane after my friends all threw their first ball. Everybody knew my
history here at this particular bowling alley, so there were high expectations
involved. I grabbed my ball and stared down the lanes a little longer than I used to.
I was unsure of my approach, where exactly I was aiming, and could feel the jitters
in my hands. Waiting any longer felt very awkward, so I took three long steps
forward, swinging my ball backwards in preparation for an epic throw down the
lane. Upon my fourth step, I launched my ball directly into the right gutter. Pure
embarrassment kicked me directly in the chest. I felt like all technique I worked
on ten to fifteen years ago had been lost. I turned around and looked at my group of
friends. They could see the self pity in my eyes. I did my best to play it off with
excuses, but to my surprise, they were all supportive of me and wanted nothing more
than to see me go again. I geared up

Elizabeth s Soft Nature Of The Perfect Woman
Elizabeth s soft nature conveys the epitome of the perfect woman during the early to
mid nineteenth century. The readers are introduced to Elizabeth primarily through
her looks. In Frankenstein, others are compared to Elizabeth s beauty as her fairness
attracts attention from the hardy little vagrants surrounding her (Shelley 32). The
other children are described as vagrants, homeless wanderers, while Elizabeth
embodies an angelic nature. The juxtaposition of her light, fair appearance among the
dark, poor other children attracted the attention of Caroline Frankenstein, leading to
her safety from poverty and entrance into a higher social status. Elizabeth, the perfect
woman, lacked the hardy and tough nature of the other children, and belonged in a
higher social class. As Elizabeth expands her education she partakes in the
traditional education of a woman during the Romanticist era as she busied herself
with following the aerial creations of the poets; and in the majestic and wondrous
scenes (Shelley 35). While Victor discovers natural laws and science, Elizabeth
educates herself in her beautiful surroundings of nature. Her knowledge is grounded
in the whimsical flights of poets during Shelley s contemporary and immensely more
carefree and naГ Їve than that of her male counterpart. Furthermore she symbolizes
the most naГ Їve force love to balance Victor s determination and curiosity as she was
the living spirit of love to soften and attract (Shelley 37).

The New Orleans Conceived Craftsman
It s four years since Frank Ocean s last collection, Channel Orange, and 13 months

In a time when numerous significant specialists are productive , for example, Drake

much time as is needed and stayed under the radar. Past a modest bunch of visitor
vocal appearances, an a capella track on Kanye West s The Life of Pablo, a two

advertisement, next to no has been seen or gotten notification from Ocean.
The anticipation was broken on 1 August, when baffling footage purportedly

camera was settled on a highly contrasting CCTV like setup that demonstrated
within a void stockroom and a line of apparatus. We saw a substantial heap of

Child Marriage Is A Violation Of Children
Child marriage is a forced marriage where the individual or individuals are children
and under the age of 18 who cannot or do not consent to being married (Jelenic
Keeley 2013). This essay argues that the best way to prevent child marriage in
Australia is to generate tougher criminalisation laws. The essay will begin by briefly
outlining the extent of child marriagein Australia before going on to illustrate a case
study that expresses the issue. The essay will then argue potential solutions, including
means of tougher criminalisation for offenders. It will further consider the
importance of education for children and touch on methods to raise awareness, before
drawing on ways the community can work together to prevent child marriage. Finally
the essay will reflect on the arguments taken and conclude with the best way to
prevent child marriage in Australia.
Child marriage is a violation of children s human rights and often involves
physical, emotional, financial, sexual or psychological pressure and abuse
(Levesque 1999). Approximately 14 million children as young as 8 years of age
fall victim to child marriages worldwide each year, robbing them of their childhood,
education and future dreams (Quinell 2015). A study conducted by the National
Children s and Youth Law Centre identified over 250 cases of child marriages in
Australia over 24 months (Jelenic Keeley 2013). The study confirmed that over 15
Australian children are being sent overseas each year for a forced

Essay on Brian Friel s Translations
Brian Friel s Translations
Brian Friel s play Translations was the first production of the Field Day Theatre
Company in Derry in 1980, which Friel co founded with Stephen Rea. It describes
the beginning of the process of Anglicization in a relatively remote Gaelic speaking
area during the 1833 Survey of Ireland, in which the English mapped Ireland, both
culturally and geographically. Years of concerted anglicizing of the Irish by the
British early in the 19th century led to the widespread fall into disuse of the native
Gaelic tongue. National schools teaching exclusively in English began to open during
the Survey of Ireland, and English culture encroached rapidly into Ireland. William

Hyde s speech argues that the Irish had by that point indiscriminately adopted all that
was English with little thought as to its value, that the Irish had [ceased] to be Irish
without becoming English. 2 He criticizes those Irish who claim to hate British
dominance, yet speak only English, anglicize their Irish names, and remain ignorant
of Gaelic literature. His central view is that the Gaelic language is the most important
aspect of an Irish identity distinct to that of the British, and that only a return to
Ireland s native language can halt the process of Anglicization. However, he is careful
not to make the claim that nothing English is of value, but emphasizes the necessity
of not neglecting that which is essentially Irish.
The history of Ireland is one of early scholasticism and rich culture in times when
the rest of Europe had less of a literary and artistic tradition. By the time of Hyde s
speech, the nation had become one of the least studious and most un literary 3
countries of the area, and he claims that the fault lies in a divergence from the right
path. 4 Progressive Anglicization has led the Irish to forget their own culture and its
traditions. The British claim that because the Irish have forgotten much of their
language and customs, they should be content as an integral part of the United

Sex Is The Best Thing
Knowing and finding out about sex would be the best thing that could happen to a
youthful tyke or youthful grown up. Folks may feel uncomfortable examining sex
with their kids, on the other hand, it is essential talk that a guardian have with their

innovative product on the market, produced by using the environmentally friendly
technology and at the end it was the attempt, I can say for sure, very successful one
to produce such an innovative product in the cooperation with Peugeot and

Toyota Motor Corporation and PSA, Peugeot Citroen in Kolin s Czech Republic.
Both companies own exactly half of the shares (50/50 JV). With this unique
automobile partnership, its joint plan for the development and production of small
compact vehicles and the construction of a new manufacturing factory, Toyota and
PSA decided to react to the changing European customer market and to found a
whole new category of small, modern and technologically advanced vehicles. In
fact, both companies see growing demand for such cars in Europe and the new

Essay Deviance is Relative
Deviance is Relative is a controversial topic that has caused intrigued sociologists to
have debates in order to come to a conclusion. Because there is no absolute
standard application towards deviating behavior, we can only gain knowledge
through practical implications, main ideas, and concepts processes. Practical
Implications of Deviance is Relative There is no absolute way of defining deviating
acts. Deviance can only be defined in a relation to certain norms, but no standards
are permanent. Norms can involve being within stereotypical viewpoints. Counter
stereotypical behavior may be viewed as acts of deviance; Phelan and Rudman

If society does not have any means of enforcing its norms, then that means anyone
can do anything he/she wants. Without laws, society will become anarchy. An
example is a murderer breaking the law and killing another human being for
religious purposes. He will experience negative sanctions. He will either be on the
run, in detention, or facing capital punishment. Because of possible circumstances,
sanctions are necessary. Medicalization of deviance means to make deviance a
medical matter; a symptom of some underlying illness that needs to be treated by
physicians. Certain acts of deviance can be a sign of mental illness: Rape, murder,
stealing, cheating and so on. Mental illness can stand for illogical thinking process.
Thomas Szasz argues that mental illnesses are neither mental nor illnesses. They are
simply problem behaviors. The problem with his theory is behavior results from
thinking. Before a person is raped, the rapist contemplates about the most efficient
way to rape someone. His contemplation or thinking process happened before his
behavior. Another example is adultery. Whenever someone commits adultery, the
person is aroused by sexual thoughts first. Subsequently, the act or behavior of
adultery proceeds after the thoughts. My own analyses of stories that had been told to
me helped lead me to this conclusion. The thoughts are the causes which lead to the
effects: the behavior. White collar crime is crime committed by

Mac. The word Mi kmaq derives from the word nikmak, which means my kin
friends or allies. The rich and descriptive Mi kmaq language was a member of the
Algonkin family. Although every Mi kmaq can understand each other, the dialect
varies between bands. For example, the Mi kmaq spoken in Quebec differs from that
in NovaScotia. The Mi kmaq tribe settled in southwesternNew Foundland in 1630.

A net, called an abi, was made with intertwined tree branches. The bait that they
used for fishing was called wa adegon. Fishhooks were made out of copper or a hook
shaped bone that was sharpened at both ends. For larger fish, a leister was used.
This tool was a three pronged spear. There was a center point and two points that
came out on each side of the middle point. Lobsters and shellfish were dug out of the
seabed with sticks and roasted on coals, (Nova Scotia 2 3; Wallis and Wallis 27 28;
Davis 27).
Hunting meat changed when the seasons did. During the summer, animals such as
moose, caribou, deer, beaver, and porcupine were stalked on foot. Porpoise, walrus,
and seal were hunted in the water by canoe in the water. In the winter, they would
break. A beavers dam and crack the ice in 40 50 different places. The beavers would
then have to come out of the broken holes in the ice. Moose were the Mi kmaq s
most productive food and were hunted from February to mid March. Meat and fish
would then be dried and smoked to preserve them. Berries, roots and edible plants
were also a source of food for the Mi kmaq, (Nova Scotia 3; Davis 27).
The gear used for hunting was mostly man made. Some of items used for hunting
were animal bone, teeth, claws, hair, quills, shells, clay, stone, wood, roots and bark.
Grinding stone to a sharp edge and a smooth surface made axes. Bows were made of

Apple s Personal Computer Product Line Essay
Currently Apple makes products such as the Mac computer, iPhone, iPod, iPad,
and Apple Watch. But when time back to January 9, 2001, Apple s product line is
limited. Most of their products are personal computer and computer accessory. The
most famous product at that time is Macintosh which is known as MAC now. The
Macintosh was released on January 22, 1984 which is 32 years ago. Now the
Apple s personal computer product line has largely expanded. Apple now makes
product like Macbook, Mac Air, Mac Pro, Mac Mini, iMac which satisfied their
customer from all needs. When time went to the 21st century, Apple also has
revolutionized the music listening and downloading industry when it launched the
iPod, in 2001, and iTunes, in 2003[5]. We could not forget about the moment at
Macworld Conference Expo in January 2007 where Steve Jobs introduced the
revolutionary iPhone, a convergence of an Internet enabled smartphone and iPod
.[4] The first generation iPhone was released on June 29, 2007 priced from $499
(4 GB) to $599 (8 GB) with an exclusive contract with one of the largest service
provider AT T. After that momentous date, the iPhone product line became a huge
success[6]. In 2010, Apple released the iPad, which lead to other companies creating
similar products that would not match up to the iPad[7]. Since Apple has so many
products, the iCloud was created so users could connect all their Apple devices and
store their data. A strategic issue Apple needs to

Foreign Direct Investment in Vietnam Essay
Foreign Direct Investment in Vietnam There is no dout that foreign direct
investment (FDI) plays a very significant role in economic growth, according to
experiences of new industrial countries in Asia. Over a decade of opening for FDI,
we could realize that the more FDI inflows pour into our country the more we
benefit. In fact, FDI has contributed a great proportion to fulfill targets on socio
economic development plan and has been one of the most important external sources
of Vietnam on the process of industrializing and modernizing the country. Statistics
shows that there was a sharp rise in FDI commitments in the period of 1998 1995.
The number of investment projects go up at average 50 percent each year untill the

In the late of 80s and the early of 90s (1988 1993), Vietnam still be hampered by
United States s embargo policy on its weak economy. Though, foreign investors
were very eager to invest in Vietnamese market promising numerous business
opportunities because Vietnam has many advantages such as being a new market
with big population and cheap price of labor; having rich natural resources,
particularly oils, favorable geographical location and huge agricultural potential.
Statistics shows that FDI commitments coming to Vietnam increased notably from
1988 to 1996, hitted the top in 1996 with US$ 8633 million and decreased sharply
since 1997. Most of these commitments were made during 1995 1996. Several large
construction projects were approved during this period of time, and this pushed up
average project size to US$ 20.5 million, compared to US$ 13.3 million during
1988 1994. We can also realize that proportion of disbursements in comparison with
commitments is low in the early of 90s. (See chart below) Sources: UNDPB. THE
CAUSES OF DECLINE IN FDI IN VIETNAM IN RECENT YEARS There are
numerous factors causing the sharp decrease in FDI since 1997 up to now. In my
opinion, there are 2 main kinds of causes: direct causes and indirect causes. The
direct cause is the Asian financial crisis booming in July 1997. Yet, the critical cause
we should consider strictly is indirect one that was hidden under annual increase

Much Ado About Nothing Structuralism Essay
Like Father, Like Daughter: Structuralism Amongst the Women in Shakespeare
During the Renaissance, it was common for women to behave in a certain manner in
a patriarchal society. Women were subordinate to any man in their life, whether it
was a husband or a father. However, Shakespeare creates female roles in his plays
that often steer away from the common script. These women challenge, deceive, and
steal from these men, including one s closest to them in their lives. In Merchant of
Venice, young Portia and Jessica are two examples of these strayed female
characters. They feel trapped in the hands of their father s and do their best to break
free of that hold. In Much Ado About Nothing, Hero is a young woman who feels her
relationship with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows the extreme version of a rebellious teenager in order to escape her
father. Once Shylock finds out his daughter has disappeared with his money and
jewels, he is outwardly upset with the fact that his possessions are gone. He even
states that he wished his daughter were dead at [his] foot, and the jewels in her
ear! Would she were hearsed at [his] foot, and the ducats in her coffin! (Act III,
Scene i, 76 79). Surely, one can t believe there are any similarities in this
relationship, however, structuralism shows the underlying pattern between Shylock
and Jessica. Diane Dreher author of Domination and Defiance: Fathers and
Daughters in Shakespeare, points out that the two hold a common trait: Greed.
Shylock s greed is expressed through his constant talk on commerce and his
precious ducats, and Jessica has inherited that ideology. Before running away with
Lorenzo, she drops down a basket filled with money and jewels belonging to her
father. One would assume it was an act of reprisal, however, Dreher argues it is
greed much like her father s. She describes her as bad and disloyal, unfilial, a thief;
frivolous, greedy, without any more conscience than a cat, (pg. 102). These two
characters know that money holds a powerful position in their lives. Along with this
greed, both are very determined characters in terms of fighting for what they want.
With Shylock, he is constantly trying to receive justice through the deal he made with
Antonio. Despite the strange request, he demands that he receives his pound of
flesh from Antonio and stops at nothing to see it through. This passion can be seen
in Jessica as well when she is determined to marry Lorenzo despite her father s
wishes. She gets to the point of disguising herself as a man in order to be with him.
She goes great lengths to be with Lorenzo by eloping, but

Relationship Between God And God In Gilgamesh
In many different texts such as Gilgamesh and The Odyssey , there is a
relationship displayed between God and man or the divine . In these stories the
gods are almost always close by. The gods in Gilgamesh are very similar to the
humans in terms of appearance. Not only that but they behave similar as well. They
have emotions and feel things but also expect things of the humans. They want
sacrifices and for the humans to obey them. In obeying and pleasing the gods
however, the humans in return expect to be guided by the gods and kept safe. This is
because the humans see the gods as unconquerable, almighty, and immortal beings.
Although being seen that way to the human s, the gods have their weaknesses too.
Despite the fact that there are gods in Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh himself is two thirds god
and one third man. He too has unbelievable strength and does unbelievable things
like killing the Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. He is capable of doing things
like the gods because he is like them to an extent. He too feels things such as
sadness and grief when his friend Enkidu dies. The gods play a part in the lives of
man in this way too. For example, the gods agreed in council that either Gilgamesh
or Enkidu must die for what they had done in killing the Bull of Heaven. In the end
this resulted in Enkidu s death. Gilgamesh like the gods, doesn t only feel and have
emotions but has a weakness as well. Gilgamesh s weaknesses in this story are
arrogance and pride. He displays this

The Tana Toraja
Funeral rites are as old as the human race itself. Every culture and civilization has
attended to the proper care of their dead. The way we grieve, commemorate, and
dispose of our dead varies greatly from culture to culture, but some traditions really
take funerals to the next level of chilling.
The Tana Toraja is a regency of South Sulawesi in Indonesia, a quaint precipitous
region that is home to a native tribe known as the Torajans. For the Toraja people,
life greatly circles around death, but not in a morbid way. To the Torajans, a funeral
is a great celebration of existence and is an occasion where the whole family of the
departed, and all the members the tribe take part. Their earliest traditions include
valedictory customs that have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The caskets are exquisitely draped with geometrical contours, but over time the wood
starts to decompose and the blanched carcasses of the dead frequently become
uncovered.
The tiniest of the Toraja burial grounds are the Baby Trees where the tribe s babies
are located. If a baby dies before they have started teething, they are swaddled in
cloth and put inside a carved out space in the interior of the trunk of a growing
tree, and protected by a palm fiber door. The conviction is that as the tree starts to
rebuild, the child s soul will turn into part of the tree. Many babies may be buried
inside a solitary tree.
Every year in August, The Ceremony of Cleaning Corpses, a ritual called Ma Nene,
takes place in which the bodies of the dead are exhumed to be washed, groomed
and dressed in new clothes. If the caskets are damaged, they are fixed or replaced.
The mummified bodies are then walked around the village by following a route of
straight lines. Following these straight lines is possibly the most significant part of
the ceremony. According to the myth, these lines are connected with Hyang, a
spiritual entity with supernatural power. As this entity only move in straight lines,
the soul of the deceased body must follow the path of Hyang. (Swazey, Kelli,

It would have been uncommon for teenagers to commit these types of crimes in the
past, but their generation is growing up with computers and skills. Criminals range
from teens, adults, to terrorist organizations, and can carry out crimes with the
anonymity and the help of computers. Businesses are also putting vast amounts of
critical information on computers and most of our financial transactions are
conducted online.
The criminal no longer has the requirement to be in the geographic location in
order to commit the crime. The profile of a cyber criminal can be a disgruntled
employee, business rival, professional hacker, political activist, or even a family
member of an employee. We at Firion also understand that anyone can be a victim,
but the most vulnerable are the inexperienced, desperate, or greedy; so we do our
best to identify any problems as soon as possible. Criminals can act alone or find help
online to commit their crimes. Criminals often meet online with other criminals to
share methods, and collaborate on future crimes.
Attack Methods and Firion Vulnerabilities Denial of service, spyware, hacking, virus
dissemination, fraud, phishing, spoofing, and extortion are just some of the cyber
crimes that we at Firion try to protect against (Ciampa, 2010). With all our efforts,
Firion has discovered some vulnerabilities based on various employee actions that

The External Environment Of Walmart
There are 7 segment of the external environment that the firms need to understand and
analyse which are demographic, economic, political or legal, sociocultural,
technological, global and sustainable physical environment. However, some of the
firms fail to understand the importance of external environment. This situation
happen because they do not understand the external environmentwill bring an impact
on them as a whole. They consider that concentrating on the internal is taken for
granted. It is because they feel comfortable with leading and managing what is
happening right now. The example of firms that did not understand their external
environmentis Walmart. Walmart violates the Clean Water Act and at the same time it
damages the environment. Therefore, Walmart had to pay a fine of $81 million. If

If the power of the supplier is strong, it can give the pressure to the buyers by raising
the prices, lowering quality of the product and reducing product supply. In the
meantime, the industry become more competitive and profit potential of the buyer

of quality and price, thus the competitiveness of the industry decline and the profit
potential of the buyer increases.
Furthermore, the bargaining power of the buyers will influence the ability of the
seller to achieve profitability. If the power of the buyer is strong, it can give the
pressure to the seller by lowering the prices, increase the quality of the product and
also offers services to the buyer. Therefore, the industry become more competitive

Power And Authority In The Vigils, By J.
The primary theme of the novel is that power and authority, when unrestrained, can
be very destructive as well as hostile. The Vigils have established, their own
universe in which all of the students must follow the rules they set. Eventually, The
Vigils end up becoming so powerful that no one dares to defy their orders until
Jerry decides to stand up against them. This theme is important because it defines
the moral behind the story, and explains why the author wrote the novel the way he
did, there is a fixed power structure at Trinity high school. Unfortunately, it s
extremely hard for a single person to stand up to a majority or whole, and it doesn t
matter if the person has a right or wrong concept. In the end, I feel Jerry tries to
determine

Public Housing During The Nineteenth Century
Have you been in a stage in your life that leaves not only you but your children as
well on the street with nowhere to go? If you re family is not making enough money
and you need assistance from the government, Public Housing may be the thing you
need. Public housing are homes that are owned by the government and in some cases
by private landlords who give low income citizens a home. Public Housing was
created in between the nineteenth and twentieth century in hopes to decrease poverty
rates from inclining. The Industrial Revolution caused poverty that led to sickness
and death to rise which convinced the government to create this subsidy. As in the
old days, there is criteria you must meet to qualify for Public Housing. In order to...

organization is to provide direct services to children and their families who have
suffered a breakdown in the structure of the family unit and home of the placement
for children in need of alternative (lowincomehousing.us). Unfortunately public
housing is not open to all, only those who meet their criteria. The age does not
matter in this situation because things can happen at any age. For example, if you
get pregnant at an age of 16 and are left alone, you may need public housing to be
able to provide a home for your child. Even though the age does not explain the
population, the special problems and special diagnosis of clients do. The clients
who are most likely to get public housing are those who have a special diagnoses
such as an illness or a disability who makes the person unable to work. For
example, a 19 year old who is a dependent can injure themselves to the point where
you can no longer work. Another special problems are being an elder, being laid
off while providing for your family, etc. This program offers these people a second
chance instead of going straight to poverty. The families who have a primary head
of household that gets laid off can lead to separation of children from parents. This
program offers second

Did Emily Dickinson Use Alliteration In Because I Could...
Firstly, in Emily Dickinson s poem, Because I Could Not Stop for Death, the
figurative language she uses in it is personification. Personification is giving a non
living this a human characteristic; in her poem, she makes Death that human
characteristic. Evidently, in the line Because I could not stop for DeathHe kindly
stopped for me, Emily is giving death a name and making it seem like Death is a
human itself. Another non living thing she gives a human trait is towards the end of
her stanza, immorality. Secondly, Emily Dickinsonuses Alliteration in her poem as
well. The repletion of a consonant sound in a poem is a Alliteration; therefore, she
uses Alliteration is stanza 2, 3, 4, and 6. Evidently, in stanza 2, it says, My labor
