Essay About Sportsmanship
Crafting an essay on the topic of sportsmanship is a task that demands more than just the ability
to string words together coherently. It requires a deep understanding of the concept itself, as
well as the ability to convey the nuances and intricacies of sportsmanship in a way that resonates
with the reader. Writing about sportsmanship involves delving into the realms of fair play,
respect, and integrity within the context of sports and competition.
One of the challenges lies in striking the right balance between discussing the theoretical aspects
of sportsmanship and providing real-world examples that illustrate its significance. It is not
merely about regurgitating dictionary definitions but about capturing the essence of
sportsmanship through thoughtful analysis and concrete instances. The writer must navigate
through the complexities of competitive environments, where emotions often run high, and find
a way to convey the importance of maintaining a spirit of fairness and respect despite the
pressures.
Furthermore, crafting an engaging and impactful essay on sportsmanship involves delving into
the psychology of athletes, understanding the role of sports in society, and exploring the
historical evolution of sportsmanship norms. This multifaceted approach demands extensive
research and a keen eye for detail to ensure that the essay is not only informative but also
thought-provoking.
Addressing the topic also requires a certain level of personal reflection. The writer must be able
to convey their own thoughts and perspectives on sportsmanship, perhaps drawing from personal
experiences or observations. This adds a layer of authenticity to the essay but also necessitates a
level of introspection that can be challenging.
In conclusion, writing an essay on sportsmanship is no small feat. It involves a careful balance of
theory and application, a deep understanding of the subject matter, and the ability to engage the
reader on both intellectual and emotional levels. It is a task that demands time, effort, and a
genuine passion for the subject. However, for those seeking assistance or inspiration in crafting
essays, there are resources available. Similar essays and a plethora of writing help can be

The Noun Security As Defined On Google
Timara Garvin
Cassandra Allen
ENC 1101
20 April 2015
The noun security as defined on Google: the state of feeling safe, stable, and free
from fear or anxiety.
When you step foot into a hotel you should be surrounded with the air of safety,
from the smiles of your porter tothe smile at the check in point. Why are these
people smiling you may ask. They are safe and are welcoming you into your new
home away from home.
As soon as you have your key in hand, you have become a part of this safe haven.
However, this is not always the case, Identity theft has taken a rise within the
hospitality industry. With all these new savey electronic devices that make life easy

Security on a Hotel standpoint
Security provided by hotels may not be of the highest level due to every state or
country having their Police departments rules and regulations, but accommodation
establishments do however have their own security in place, be it at the door near a
concierge desk and or at the back entrance. this not only aid the guests but also takes
care of the staffing and for the property itself.
The times have changed, looking at airport check in procedures, one can easily self
check in using their mobile phones or even self check in at designated stations for
self check in. this decreases chances of any criminal activities that could put blame
to the airport. if hotels had a similar system in place, the chances of having a credit
card cloned become minimal.
Due to the increasing rate of the human population followed by the varying
economical dips that cause unemployment, this will however affect the crime rate,
so we are safe to say that no economy is completely safe. therefore trends in
installing the latest and high tech security systems play an important role for any
establishment that aims to lure their market by up selling their security status
alongside their place of leisure.. (knowing that you are safe whilst on Holiday allows
you to relax and feel free)

Summary Of Hard Times By Charles Dickens
Angelina Almanzar
ENGL 35701: 19th Century British Novel
Professor Elizabeth Weybright
27 June 2016
Utilitarianism in Hard Times
During the Victorian Era, many philosophers focused on utilitarian philosophy and
ways of thinking, choosing the best decisions and actions for their own self interest.
In his novel, Hard Times, Charles Dickens satirizes the English educational system,
society, and economics, but most importantly, through them, he criticizes the many
abuses of utilitarianism. Many writers such as Bornali Nath Dowerah and Ali
Taghizadeh have done research on Dicken s work mostly focusing on utilitarianism
and its negative impacts on society especially on those of the lower class.
Charles Dickens, the most renowned social commentator of his time, criticized the
ills of society as he commiserates with those who were affected the most by social
and economical abuses. According to the article Charles Dickens as Social
Commentator and Critic published on the Victorian Web (www.victorianweb.org
/authors/dickens/diniejko.html), Dickens was not only very successful in exposing
what was wrong with society, but also in exposing the ills of the utilitarian theory
which at the time rejected the human imagination or fancy. Utilitarianism is an
ethical theory which as we may know recommends ethical recommendations for
everyday life, thus making hard decision making easier for us. This theory mostly
focuses on moral action, holding on to the belief that people s happiness

Environmental Policies Of China And Brazil
China and Brazil have developed historically together but why does Brazil have more
effective environmental agencies than the China? Both nations are different
politically and cultural, however through their developments as nations their
environmental policies are having different degrees of success. These countries are
partly free, but Brazil has informal institutions including the Catholic Church that
affects the political climate and has helped environmental agencies. China and Brazil
have historically had similar environmental policyspecifically in UN talks. These
countries have had their own struggles with their environmental policy trying to have
a balance of economic growth and being a sustainable country. It is important examine

As a communist state becoming more international acknowledged as a state China
had to make major changes as a government and it had to come externally. China
began to manifest an awareness of environmental problems in the early 1970 s
(Ross, 810). This was because China had gained a seat in the UN and was working
with the U.S during this time. Right before the 1972 Stockholm conference China
had created a domestic agency that worked with environmental issues so that they
had a voice in the conference. This conference came to the existence of SEPA which
had policies with emission permits that was modeled by economically advanced
countries such as the U.S (Ross, 812). SEPA was a cost to the state and could
restrain a growing economy which was not in China s best interest. Right before the
1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development China and 41
other developing countries made a declaration. This declaration acknowledged the
need for international co operation to promote environmental protection and
sustainable development while demanding financial assistance (Ross, 814). This was
also mentioned by the top leaders of China that economic development would reject
in any interference with domestic politics for environmental policy (Ross, 814).
China eventually reached a deal with a 9 year plan which shows that China is not
against environmental

The Two Chinese Philosophies Of Confucianism
The two Chinese philosophies of Legalism and Confucianism could not be more
opposite. Even though two of the writers of Legalism were students of Xinzu, a
philosopher of Confucianism, there are more of differences than similarities between
the two. Because of this, legalism, which preceded the concept of Confucianism, had
a lot of reasons why Confucianism was considered wrong. While towards the fall of
the Qin Dynasty, Confucian beliefs started to revamp and become more widely
accepted and thus they were blended together to some extent, this was not the case
beforehand, in fact it could be argued that blending the two together seemed almost
impossible. Confucianism stressed the ideas of the knowledge, humaneness, and filial
piety while legalism stressed power, rewards and punishments, and agricultural
wealth. Thus from a legalist standpoint, Confucianism was considered wrong because
it placed value on virtues instead of the laws, focusing on education to prosper growth
and moral character instead of simply obeying societal laws and valuing agricultural
wealth rather than humaneness Thus differences far exceed similarities between
these two ancient beliefs. However, both have made everlasting marks on Chinese
culture and tradition that to this day still exists.
Here is my suggestion for a more succinct and focused intro, deleting what you have
above:
The two Chinese philosophies of Legalism and Confucianism could not be more

Conflict Resolution Essay
A group can only be called a team if the members are actively working together
toward a common goal. A team must have the capability to set goals, make
decisions, solve problems, and share responsibilities. For a team to be successful,
trust must be earned between its members by being consistent and reliable (Temme
Katzel, 2005). When more than one person is working on a particular task,
inconsistent views or opinions commonly arise. People come from different
backgrounds and live through different life experiences therefore, even when
working towards a common goal, they will not always see eye to eye. Major conflict
that is not dealt with can devastate a team or organization (Make Conflict Work,
2008). In some situations, conflict can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of conflict under this view brings to mind chaos, heated emotion, and high
stress. The traditional mindset requires taking all necessary steps to prevent and
remove the source of the conflict that may be detrimental to the team. The human
relations view understands that conflict is inevitable and part of the natural process
of interactions. The human relations view is a more neutral outlook, which allows
conflict and is tolerant of its presents. One that comes from this perspective expects
conflict in a team setting and is more likely to resolve the issue when it arises rather
than trying to eliminate the source. The interactionist view considers conflict to be
energizing and helpful in keeping constructive discussion going. The interactionist
view is a positive view that encourages opinions and expression of all members of
an association. Conflict is considered a positive influence towards change. Causes for
Conflict Barbara Bowes discusses three major causes for conflict: different interests
/goals, conflicting values, and interpersonal styles (2008). Even though a team has the
same ultimate goal, the intermediate steps to reach this goal may be unparallel.
Imagine if Ray Kroc, fast food restaurateur, and a gourmet chef teamed up to open a
restaurant. What conflicts might transpire? The team may have the same definitive
goal in mind, but the two would more than likely be dealing with the issue of quality
versus convenience. The second

fat side. Her right arm is a chrome color and reflects light. Her costume is much
akin to that of Batgirl, except she wears a bulletproof vest and her undershirt is a

Powers: Cadmus gave her a new arm, which can lift at max, two thousand pounds.
It joins her body at her collarbone, meaning that they removed her shoulder joint
and replaced it with a bionic one. To equalize her strength and weight on her right
side, she was made a metahuman. Her entire body has enhanced strength and
durability her right arm can lift about four hundred pounds and she can kick with
up to eight hundred pounds of force. She s weighed down on her right side, so it
looks like she s limping, or walking with a swagger, but she doesn t mean to, she s
just heavier on the one side. Her arm had many modes it can go into, and it can be
taken off, though it s difficult to take off and she doesn t do it often. Precision
mode: This mode sacrifices sixty percent of arm strength to having better precision
and can be upped to seventy five percent of strength to precision if

Marketing Principles Of International Marketing
From this course, I learned plenty of international marketing principles and knew that
international environments are quite different from countries to countries. Each
market you enter is different, and what works in one country or region will not work
in another. As technology creates leaps in communication and transportation, the
world continues to feel smaller and smaller. It is not that hard for companies and
consumers to conduct business in almost any country around the world thanks to
advances in international trade, and no doubt, the world is tending to be more
international, diverse and muti cultural in multiple ways. In most factors that
influenced international marketing, culture has a great impact on it. A marketer
always has to study about the local culture in depth before offering a product to
them, and I think that well understanding of a country s culture is really essential for
international marketing. First of all, to have an effective communication one must
send the message according to the receiver s culture, customs and learning process.
There are some major barriers by which effective communication can be hampered.
For example, companies have to be aware of what their brand name will be when it is
translated in another language. Since sometimes when a company renames their
brand in foreign country, it might totally change meaning of its original meaning. It
will be embarrassing if the new name delivers wrong message that company does not

Essay on Factors Contributing to Colony Collapse Disorder
Picture sitting next to a river in the summer time where it is just the perfect
temperature and you are soaking up the great weather and the amazing scenery
when a bee buzzes past you and lands on a flower by your feet, as human nature
you don t want to be next to the bee because it could sting you... do you step on it
or simply walk away? What you may not know is that honeybees play a huge roll
in America s agriculture, whether it is pollinating alfalfa hay to feed your horse or
pollinating that apple you eat every morning for breakfast. Honeybees pollinate
about one third of crops species in the U.S. (Vanishing Bees, 2008). Bees pollinate a
lot more than you would think a few more examples are almonds, avocadoes,
cucumbers and peanuts.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bees never seem to catch a break which is putting the bees under stress which is
a factor. Furthermore, when they are pollinating all these different plants some are
not nutritious as others, for example cucumbers aren t as healthy as some of the
other plants but there is still a demand for them, so the bees still have to work and
eventually become unhealthy if they aren t getting the right nutrients. Another factor
is pesticides, which has many different points of view but overall it has come to
decided it is not the pesticides themselves that are killing masses of bees but it is
lowering their immune system and making it easier for them to get sick, for example
with the common parasite Nosema. Nosema is a parasite in the digestive track of the
honey bee that attacks the entire hive and can eventually wipe out the whole hive.
The effects of the pesticides are ultimately never letting the hives reach their
maximum potential, which in the end could render the hives weak and lethargic.
There are so many pesticides out there it is hard to tell exactly what component in the
pesticide is hurting the bees. It is recently found that the inert ingredients used often
to boost the effectiveness of the pesticide are actually more harmful than the actual
toxic ingredients

My First Semester Of Senior Year
Twyla Gene Mrs. Caffey AP English 12 December 9, 2014 What Comes Next First
semester of senior year is coming to an end. The graduation countdown has started.
During my freshman year, I couldn t imagine myself getting this far. To this day, I
challenge myself to everything I can do. Whenever I fall, I get back up. The past
few years, I started to see what the real world truly looks like. I learned the real
world is difficult, but the only way to get further is to accept the challenge I am
given. The world has many interesting things and adventures to explore. As well as,
discovering what career path I should follow. However, I have selected three
careers I would like to major in. I started looking into film/video editing, physical
therapy, and automotive engineering. By selecting these three, I believe I can find
my true passion to help the world. Also, what I would love to do my entire life.
My first selection to investigate is a film/video editor. Since my freshman year, I
was drawn to Mrs. Novell s multimedia class. Also, I knew a lot about computers. I
would love to work on projects with the computers and on posters. I would help my
mom with projects. Working with special equipment and Apple s Final Pro Cut
sounded fun. A film/video editor has many responsibilities like interviewing people,
getting footage, adding sound and effects to get everyone s attention, cutting out
unnecessary clips, and making sure the video is running correctly by the deadline

Drosophila Lab Report
In their lab report Dietary Restriction in Drosophila, Piper, Mair, and corresponding
author Partridge, biologist at University College London, constructed an experiment
around the life span of the Drosophila, commonly known as the fruit fly. The
purpose of this experiment was to extend lifespan of the adult Drosophila by
implementing Dietary Restriction. Lifespan had been extended to the fruit flies by
restriction of the availability of live yeast or by dilution of the whole food medium.
This study was conducted to investigate mechanisms of ageing and development
within an organism. This report will give a light to anyone wishing to study the
mechanisms and aging and development within any species to enhance their
scientific knowledge. According to the writing assignment question sheet, a model
organism is a species that has been widely studied because it has specific
experimental advantages, and may be used to obtain information about other species
that are more difficult to study. Drosophila is a model organism that possess
characteristics that makes it suitable for experimentation. Its characteristic are:

opinion and the importance of each one. Each one will be discussed based on the
order they are written in the AARC Code of Ethics Guide. Demonstrate behavior that
reflects integrity, supports objectivity, and fosters trust in the profession and its
professionals. This means that the respiratory therapist should harbor the quality of
being honest and have strong moral principles when it comes to the profession as
well as other professionals. Seek educational opportunities to improve and maintain
their professional competence and document their participation accurately. The
NBRC has designed a Continuing Competency Program (CCP) that is designed to
enhance and contribute to the continuing competence of credentialed respiratory
therapist. Participation in the Continuing Competency Program (CCP) requires the
respiratory therapist to provide evidence to support proof that they are continuing to
meet current standards of practice and have successfully renewed their NBRC
issued credentials. The NBRC provides three renewal options: Option one is to
provide proof of completion of a minimum of thirty hours of category I continuing
education (CE) acceptable to the NBRC. Category I is participation in an educational
activity directly related to respiratory therapy. The following are acceptable: lecture,

Schedule computation or schedule communication helps to optimize utilization and
keep running time low. Several works propose to improve job scheduling by
preserving data locality maintaining fair allocation among multiple resource types or
discarding time consuming tasks. Even with optimal computation scheduling, the
cluster network can still become a blockage. The optimization of network transfers
can be done by improving the flow bandwidth allocation or by dynamically
changing paths in response to demand. These approaches need accurate and timely
application demand information, obtained either from the application itself through
instrumentation, which is quick and accurate but intrusive, or from the network
through monitoring , which does not require application involvement, but can be
expensive, slow, and detects changes in demand only after they have occurred.
FlowComb also uses MapReduce framework to influence the design of the system.
MapReduce provides a divide and conquer data processing model, where large
workloads are split into smaller tasks, each processed by a single server in a cluster
(the map phase). The results of each task are sent over the cluster network (the
shuffle phase) and merged to obtain the п¬ Ѓnal result (the reduce phase). The
network footprint of a MapReduce job consists pre dominantly of trafп¬ Ѓc sent

Throughout the year, temperatures are high between 25 and 35 degrees Centigrade.
The Nile serves as a constant source of water and this enables farming along its
banks. The high temperatures evaporate much of the water and with high rates of
evapotranspiration irrigation is necessary. In addition to its vital role to agriculture,
its waterways also play a major role in transportation. During seasonal flooding it
enables transportation to those areas where road access is not possible.
The Nile is not only of great importance to support many incomes across Africa but
is of great strategic importance as it is a gateway to Africa.

1)What is crosstalk? How is it minimized in case to twisted pair of wire? a)The
most common description for crosstalk is the interference produced on a telephone
device transmission circuit channels by electromagnetic signals. b)By using a twister

out due to their opposite polarity. 2)Why two separate frequencies are used for uplink
and downlink transmission in case of satellite communication? In this type of

Caesar Augustus Contributions
History is made up of individuals who were just living the life they wanted to live.
Their actions ended up making an impact on our world as we know it. At the time
they probably had no clue that the actions they put forth in their time would
eventually lead up to the world we know today. Their life events may not have been
grand, but they were enough to make an impact. Caesar Augustusis one example of a
person in history who led a successful life.
Born Gaius Octavius on September 23, 63 B.C., in Velletri, Italy. Augustus was a
sickly child with few connections. Although, one connection he did have was being
the great nephew of Julius Caesar. Augustus was known by three different names
throughout his life. From birth to 44 B.C. he was known as Octavius, in 44 B.C.
he was adopted and changed his name to Octavian and in 26 B.C. the Roman
Senate conferred on him the name Augustus. His father was a senator and governor
in the Roman Republic and passed away when Augustus was four years old; his
mother Atai was Caesar s niece. In his younger years his grandmother Julia Ceasaris
helped raise him; she was the sister of Julius Caesar.
Augustus donned the toga, the Roman sign of manhood, at age 16, and began
taking on responsibilities through his family connections. At the time Rome was
dangerous and engulfed in a civil war, one faction of the war was led by his great
uncle Caesar. He started on his path of responsibilities by leaving for Hispania to
fight alongside his

Social Marketing
Of the hundreds of named brand clothing that form part of the retail and fashion
industry I chose to compare, for my analysis, Abercrombie Fitch, Forever 21,
American Eagle, and H M. These stores are prominent, well known for selling
apparel, shoes, and accessories by the means of offering sales and promotions to their
customers. This is a clever strategy for attracting customers, allowing them to believe
that they bought goods at affordable, convenient prices and not to mention the
prestigious name prescribed to the clothing brands. Using keyhole.co as my main
source, I obtained relevant and valuable information regarding the status of these
brands. My intentions were to compare a period of 14 days, however, due to the
limited access that I received from my free trial, the program only allowed me to
see fewer of the dates than I anticipated. I want to take this opportunity and mention
ahead of time that due to the various and distinctive products that are sold from
these stores, when looking for the spending capacity I decided to focus on shirts
/ jeans for men and women and compare the prices among them since each of these
retailers carry those items and as a way to make this report easier to contrast and
comprehend. Also, when approaching the section of setting , I screen shotted some of
the images on Instagram and made them into a collage to separate the type of clothes
and trends that each of these brands sell currently. In the following modules

Blinded Phillip In The Cay
Many people walk around the world, blinded by their prejudiced views. Some are
raised to believe certain things about people that are not necessarily true. This is
evident in the character Phillip in the novel The Cay, by Theodore Taylor. In the
novel, Phillip is blinded but regains his sight at the end of the story. I believe that
Taylor blinded Phillip so that so that he could learn to see beyond differences of

All About My Mother Character Analysis
The film All About My Mother is a drama which sees a mother, Manuela, on a
search to find the father of her son. This journey comes after her son, who has
always desired to meet his father, was tragically hit by a car and killed while
chasing down actresses of the play A Streetcar Named Desire. This play, which
Manuela was an actress in twenty years earlier, becomes small piece of her son she
holds, since it was the last thingshe did with him before he was killed. This desire
she feels to be complete is a trait which recurs in a few other characters during the
story. The characters that the desire to feel complete is most shown in is Manuela,
Esteban (her son), and Huma.

All of them were cut in half. My father, I suppose. I have the impression that my
life is missing that same half. Esteban is a character who is shown as basically a
mama s boy in the beginning of the film, but you learn this is caused just by the
situation he was put in all his life, not knowing his father at all. He has the need to
feel complete and finding his father is what he believes will do this for him.
Huma is an actress who goes through the movie chasing a girl that will only bring
her pain. Nina is this girl, as well as her co star in the play, A Streetcar Named Desire.
Huma is constantly having to go through the pain of her lover being a junkie and is
always in fear of losing her. As well she has to deal with knowing that Manuela s son
died that night on his birthday partially because of her. Huma throughout the film
shares the same desire as the other characters to feel complete or to find someone that
completes us.
Most of us in this world, at one time or another, have felt the need to feel complete.
Feeling that something is missing and that whatever it is, will bring us happiness
and fulfillment in our own lives. For these characters the thing which they desire to
complete them are other characters in the film. For Manuela it is her son after he
is hit by a car and killed, Esteban longs to know who his father is, and Huma is
chasing her lover Nina who will only give her pain. The journey to find completion

Essay about Symbolic Interactionism Theory
Symbolic Interactionism Theory
George Herbert Mead studied and used an interactionist approach for many years.
He was a philosophy professor at the university of Chicago. Mead thought that the
true test to any theory is whether or not it is useful in solving complex social
problems (EM Griffin, p.83). So Mead decided to study the procedures of
communicating, specifically with symbols, the theory was titled Symbolic
Interactionism.
Mead declared that our gift of language, our ability to manipulate and interpret
abstract symbols, was what separated human beings from the other animals. I feel in a
big way that Mead is correct. Humans understand and filter out information whether
they intend to or not, all due to the channel of ... Show more content on

Meanings of things arise out of social interaction. In order for there to be a meaning
between two people you must socially intersect, whether or not it s verbally or non
verbally.
Meanings are handled in and modified through, an interpretative process (1972,
p.401). Everyone sees a symbol and takes it to their own degree of meaning, not
everyone interprets a meaning the same way.
The exchange of meaning is usually the number one reason for problems in a
relationship. Dyads and groups struggle over the processes and content of
communication. It s obvious that there are different implications for different
people, so the goal is to work out a consensus although that isn t usually achieved.
Not only is it the differences in meaning, studies show that it is taken for granted
symbols that are the most likely for the subject of disagreement. Taken for granted
symbols are signs that people give to one another that aren t picked up on by others.
One of the most important part of the symbolic interaction structuring is for human
beings to realize that one of the most important objects in their communication
environment is the self of the individual. Self represents ways the individual acts
toward or treats him/herself, otherwise known as the looking glass self . There s two
ways that one sees him/herself, one of them is the I personality. This is

Holden Caulfield Teenager
A teenager, by definition it s someone who is thirteen to nineteen years of age,
most know it as the peak of youth and adolescents. For the past month my class has
been reading the book Catcher and the rye by J.D Salinger, a book about a teenager
named Holden Caulfield and how he acts and behaves as a teenager in 1950 New
York. After reading the book i have concluded that Holden Caulfieldis not a realistic
representation of a teenager as he not only cares very little about education, he also
drinks, smokes and despite his situations he can be very reckless.

Holden s drinking and smoking habits are show throughout the book, his smoking
habit was first told when he said I have no wind if you want to know the truth. I m
quite a heavy smoker...(Salinger,5) , another example of Holden being different from
a normal teenager is his parents response to the drug, for example in chapter 23
when Holden s parents come home from seeing a movie Holden s little sister
Phoebe has to explain why there was smoke in the room, through the smoke was
caused by Holden, Phoebe takes the blame saying that she just wanted to try it,
Phobe, have you been smoking a cigarette in here? Tell me the truth, please, young
lady. What? old Phoebe said. You heard me. I just lit one for one second. I just took
one puff. Then i threw it out the window. Why may I ask? I couldn t sleep. I don t

her if she needed a blanket. Holden s drinking habit was explained in chapter 8, when

Growing Up in I Stand Here Ironing Essay
Growing up
The oppression of women by society has never been a secret. Many times it has
been documented in works of literature, and one classical example of this occurrence
is I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen. This story illustrates the consequences of
oppression in women s lives.
The story leads the reader on an exploratory journey to witness the neglect by Emily s
extremely guilty mother. This is described by the children s cry when they are left
with strangers, lacking attention and love due to the fact she is a single parent at a
time where this was not commonly accepted in the community, causing a lot of
emotional distress.
The mother s pain and torment is apparent from the very beginning of the story. Her

There is irony in this story in that it begins with a nineteen year old Emily, the same
age of the mother at Emily s birth, I was nineteen. It was the pre relief, pre WPA
world of depression (Olsen, 368). The societal changes and different expectations for
women are illustrated through the description of Emily as a single college student
and assertive, while her mom was a product of the 1930 s, uneducated, forced to
work very young to make ends meet.
While Emily has the advantage of a contemporary upbringing, she is still
vulnerable and fearful as an adult, as she was a lonely, sick and unpopular child.
When she finally came I hardly knew her, walking quick and nervous like her
father, looking like her father, thin, and dressed in a shoddy red that yellowed her
skin and glared at the pockmarks (Olsen, 368).
In many ways, the mother has control over Emily s destiny, which seems to
relinquish weakly. For example, she didn t have to bear other children, knowing she
was struggling with Emily, emotionally, physically, and financially. It seems as
though she didn t even give her new marriage time to develop before there were new
babies and responsibilities kept on upon her. She seems to approach life ignorantly,
simply succumbing to her circumstances in a passive

The Challenges Of A Reflection In Writing A Writing

Reflection Essay I would describe my writing process as a fairly simple one. First I
would choose a topic that appealed to me. Secondly, I would just sit down and start
writing. Lastly, I usually wrote my paper in parts. I d skip the introduction and
conclusion till the very last tasks, so I always wrote my body paragraphs first. A
challenge I faced would be that I had writer s block for a few of my projects because
I did the writing structure out of order; specifically in The Texas Chain Saw
Massacre and Language and Power essays. The struggle was that I didn t create a
thesis before writing the body paragraphs, so I had no idea what I was writing.
Most of the time I came up with my points on the spot, which was quite
challenging. Sometimes I couldn t express what I wanted on paper clearly. The
ideas were in my head, but I didn t know how to form a sentence for them. I got
through the writer s block by looking through the readings and doing research if
needed. Doing this helped my papers reach the requirements for completion. The
benefit of writing my body paragraphs for these essays was that I had a few ideas
on what I could form my thesis on. Another challenge I encountered would be that
I often started a paper late or I didn t give myself enough time to finish a writing.
This was applicable to my satirical piece and rhetorical analysis. I m pretty sure I
came up with my idea a few days before my first

Battle Of Bastogne Essay
The battle of Bastogne was fought at a Belgium town called Bastogne between
American Forces and the Nazi German Forces during World War II. The initial
attack of the battle started on 15 December, 1944 which led to a siege from 20 to
27 December 1944. The fighting eventually ended on 17 January, 1945. The battle
was part of a larger Campaign called the Battle of the Bulge when Adolf Hitlerand the
Nazi German launched an offensive campaign in order to recapture strategic areas
for their advantage against Allied Forces. Allied Forces were across Europe very
quickly after the successful landing in Normandy, capturing German territories and
steadily pushing the Nazi Forces back to Germany. The Nazi Generals realized that...

Odysseus Character Analysis
On an individual s quest to figure out who they are, it is necessary that they test
themselves and see who they are in relation to society. One character that has
inspired generations of people with his craftiness is the Iliadic hero known as
Odysseus Laertiades, who threw himself into danger at every chance to prove himself
on his journey home after the Trojan war. In the epic poem entitled The Odysseythat
was written by Homer, Odysseusshows how he views himself in relation to others
and carries himself in front of individuals he meets. One character that has been
subject to Odysseus s craftiness was Poseidon s son, Polyphemus the Cyclops.
Odysseus desires to explore Polyphemus s cave, and upon being noticed with his
men, the Cyclops asks who they are, and Odysseus responds We are from Troy,
Akaians, blown off course...We served under Agamemnon...we stand beholden for
your help, or any gifts...as custom is to honor strangers (9.280 290). Odysseus tries
to win the support of Polyphemus by bragging about how he s a soldier that just
arrived at his home, and as guests, Odysseus and his crew are entitled to the help
and gifts by the host of the cave. In another scene, Odysseus also tries a similar
routine of asking for help with the PhaiГ Ўkian princess named Nausikaa when he
mentions near the Altar of Apollo...I had troops under me (6.185 186). Odysseus
presents himself as a veteran that is entitled to help from whoever he meets, and
Polyphemus couldn t care less. Odysseus tends to attempt to woo those he meets
to try to get their support. Polyphemus is unmoved by Odysseus s words and
further questions Odysseus asking where was it, now, you left your ship (9.300
304). Odysseus replies with a lie that Poseidon broke their ship on the rocks near
the shore (9.309 311). Odysseus is just exploring the island and Polyphemus s cave,
but he formulated the identity of a shipwrecked sailor. He presented himself and his
crew as helpless strangers that need help to make Polyphemus let his guard down,
and make the Cyclops feel that he controls the destiny of the men and they have no
means of escape. When it comes time for the men escape to Polyphemus s cave, they
can make a quick escape without worrying about

When I asked him what his idea of what a man and a woman was supposed to be
growing up he replied I guess a man was supposed to go get a job, find a wife, have a
couple of kids and provide for the family. Women stayed home and looked after the
kids, they didn t work as much as today . As expected women were your typical stay
at home parent who took care of the cleaning, cooking and the kids while dad did all
the money making.
This ability to work gave men the upper hand, if a woman couldn t work, and
provide, she had very little power over her destiny. In fact, it was not until the Equal
Credit Opportunity Act of 1974 that it became illegal to refuse a credit card to a
woman based on her gender. That s right, up until 1974 credit was denied to women
unless she was married and her husband cosigned. According to the Census bureau
only about 14 million women worked a full time job in 1967, earning only a
medium of $20,000 a year. In that very same year 36 million men held a full time
job, earning a medium of about $34,000 a year. That s without considering
harassment, and sexual assault that women were more likely to endure then.
In the middle of Americans fighting for domestic equality, the country found itself in

Abstract
Not long ago, Countrywide Financial seemed to have everything going for it.
Cofounded by Angelo Mozilo in 1969, by the early 2000s it had become the largest
provider of home loans in the United States. At that time one in six U.S. loans
originated with Countrywide. In 1993 its loan transactions reached the $1 trillion

United States and had lowered the barriers of homeownership for lower income

Many of the baby boomers started selling their houses to fund their retirement.
Disposable income was becoming nonexistent. Despite all of these warning signs
financial institutions kept on making risky loans, such as the subprime loans, and
builders kept on building more houses for profit. The end result was a surplus of
housing and no consumers able to afford it. Banks were forced to start foreclosing on
houses when the consumers stopped paying their mortgages. Foreclosure rates were
skyrocketing, causing investors and borrowers to feel the full effect of the risks of
the subprime loans. The surmounting number of mortgage defaults and investors
pulling out of their mortgage backed securities caused a string of bank and
financial institution failures. These failures were felt world wide, as billions of
dollars were lost. Many of the larger financial institutions required government
assistance to stay afloat. In just over a year Countrywide depreciated and absorbed
$21 billion in losses. Eight billion in subprime loans has a seven percent delinquency
rate, as well as the foreclosure rate on the loans doubled. Countrywide laid off twenty
percent of its employees.
When Is Making A Subprime Loan An Ethical Thing To Do?
When making a subprime loan it is the responsibility of the lender to discern whether
the loan is a good risk for the borrower and the lender. If the loan is going to be a
poor risk to the borrower

Theoretical Perspective In Psychology
Without society, there cannot be a self (132). That said, the way one presents himself
should be examined in terms of the interplay between both the individual and the
culture he is immersed in. Symbolic statements used by the self, for example, are
often constrained or shifted to convey a meaning that aligns with the institution such
a self belongs to. With this in mind, I observed the office doors of the 3rd floor
PsychologyDepartment in the Brogden Psychology Building by taking photos of
such doors to examine how such statements can reflect one as an individual and as a
member of a subculture.
Perhaps some of the most fascinating office doors amongst the ones I observed were
those covered in humorous decor. One lab office door in particular ... Show more

Thus, along with deductions made about the individuals, the observed symbolic
statements can also be examined through the lens of the subculture of the department
as well. For example, although there was an overall variety in content, the majority of
the office doors observed contained personal/humorous statements rather than
informational/structured ones. Since these statements are seen by other colleagues of
the department, it is reasonable to assume that the department is playful in nature.
Similarly, many of the directions and lab doors were disorganized, exhibiting a
uniform nature of disarray rather than structured organization. Another form of
content that was plentiful in numbers was that of posters concerning mental health
itself. This sentiment stresses passion for the department s subculture itself,
showcasing the department s pride in their research and its importance on society as a
whole. This department differs from others I ve seen in terms of personality. The
unique additions of humor and passion concerning the department set the psychology
department apart from many

The decision to enter voluntary administration puts a question mark on the future of

The Prospect Of A Two State Nation Solution For Israel...
The Israel Palestine conflict is one of the most long term, pressing, and largely
confounding social, political, and national quandaries of our age. Since we have been
moving with surprising velocity into the vast horizons of globalization, the conflict
has built up tremendous momentum and has called into question the adequacy of our
current attempts at coming to a peaceful resolution that can simultaneously and
successfully address both sides of the struggle. The purpose of this paper has been to
understand the prospect of a two state nation solution for Israeland Palestine. The
discussion arises a retrospective view of the context behind the present analysis. We
begin with a discourse that informs the reader of the historical narrative between the
Jewish inhabitants of Israel and the Palestinians who also seek to live in the lands
which comprise Israel. At the forefront of the discussion are some key issues such as
trends in Israeli settlementexpansion over time, the manner in which these settlements
create political challenges towards the prospect of a two state solution, and the
fragmentation of power within Palestinian political parties which inhibit the
opportunity for proper negotiations amongst the two parties. Finally, we delve into a
discussion on nationalism, it s importance in the discussion of a two state solution,
and the challenges posed when trying to formulate US Foreign Policy towards the
matter.

gives us the foreshadow of what s about to happen in the play. Her action which

which I think is very stronger than just slapping her. In this play, the style of the

it didn t block the view of the actors as the thrust stage did which was used in the

The role of a wife was played by Drew Beaubian. What I really liked about her
character is that she is very innocent and unaware of her husband love for another
woman who turns out be her cousin. She worries about her family. I was expecting
there to be a lot of crying once the mother and wife finds out about the death the

was pretty odd to me knowing the son was very dear to the mother. Ana Rivera

obligations. Obviously, due to their vital role, soldiers are necessity. But, are you
familiar with child soldiers? Child soldiers are people under the age of 18 who are
forced to fight in warwhere they are used as suicide bombers, human shields, or spies.
Recently, the case of childsoldiers has drawn attention to the fact that if whether or

This is why they should be given forgiveness. Armed Underage is a magazine about
the fact that thousands of children are being forced to serve as soldiers around the
world. For example, Children are often considered the perfect weapon: They are
easily manipulated, intensely loyal, fearless, and most important, in endless supply.
(Armed Underage Upfront Magazine). This shows that when they are easily
manipulated, they can become into ferocious tools. Also, this is the reason why they
are even chosen in the first place. To prove that they are becoming forced because of
their innocence even more, a military commander even stated that child soldier are
ideal, from Armed Underage. Child soldiers are ideal, a military commander from
the African nation of Chad told Human Rights Watch. They don t complain, they
don t expect to be paid and if you tell them to kill, they kill. (Armed Underage
Upfront Magazine). This demonstrates that child soldiers were victims of war from
the very beginning. At the same time, they are being taken advantage of their
innocence. If children weren t easily manipulated, then it would be harder for
military officials to get soldiers. But, they are like food, just waiting to be eaten.
Military commanders conduct each one of their moves and actions. Child soldiers are

have sufficient detergent to prevent the fluoride ions from reacting with the silica

develop reliable methods of measurement of available fluoride. The difficulty in
achieving the analytical methods is related to the large variety of ingredients used
in toothpaste products and the different forms of fluoride delivered during tooth

The Protestant Ethic by Max Weber
The connection between economic life, rational self organisation and salvation are
bought to life by Max Weber in the Protestant Ethic. This paper will showcase the
way in which these terms are related to one another and it will explore this
connection by drawing on what Weber refers to as the spirit of capitalism. Let us
begin by understanding the starting point of Weber s concerns for economic life.
It appears that Weber s interest is concerned with the development of modern life,
more particularly with the spirit of capitalism and the self organisation system (
Giddens, 1992:x). Weber is interested in certain conduct and behaviour that is
associated capitalism and economic lifestyles, this interest is what allows Weber to
explore the connection between economic life and Protestantism (Giddens, 1992:xi).
In order to fully understand the terms self organisation and salvation let us also
understand what Weber understood by the term the spirit of capitalism . Weber
describes this term as a peculiar ethic in which the aim is to seek an accumulation of
capital, not necessarily for material purposes but also for the sake of wealth itself
(Giddens, 1992:xi). It is considered as a calculated pursuit of continuous wealth
accumulation and profit, it is this pursuit that is considered the essence of the spirit
of capitalism. It should be noted that this accumulation not be confused with greed
but rather a rational pursuit of profit (Giddens, 1992:xxxi). What we must also note

Coming Of Age Experience In To Kill A Mockingbird By...
Everyone grows up. And a part of growing up is learning new things about the
worldaround you. But some people have more to learn than others. In Harper Lee s
novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout and Jem along with their friend, Dill, grow up
in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama. Scout, Jem and Dill experience events that
change the way they look at the world. To Kill A Mockingbirdchronicles their coming
of age experience. The trial of Tom Robinson, the kids attempts to make contact with
Boo Radley and Dill running away from home, all change the way the kids look at
the town and people around them.
One of the most important parts of the kids journey of learning more about how the
world around them works is the trial of Tom Robinson. Even before the trial, the
kids see the town s reaction to Atticus taking up the case of Tom Robinson. The kids

Scout thinks it was Jem, as he was the only person with her in the dark when Bob
Ewell attacked them. But it soon is revealed that it was actually the elusive Boo
Radley. Atticus was right. One time he said you never really know a man until you
stand in his shoes and walk around in them. Just standing on the Radley porch was
enough (Lee 374).Scout realizes that Boo isn t a monster as the stories would
suggest, he s just a normal person, even if he is a little different. It is unknown if
Jem or Dill ever meet Boo, as the book ends before we can find out, but seeing Boo
Radley for the first time is a growing experience for Scout as she meets the
mysterious person that was at the center of her childhood. She learns that some
people are just different, and that s ok, but you have to learn to understand them

The Issue Of Client And Caseworker Confidentiality
Attached is a detailed report drawing attention to the recent and alarming issue of
client and caseworker confidentiality. Complaints and possible liability lawsuits are
threatening to arise and a change or changes need to go in to effect. This detailed
report will go over the meaning of confidentiality and highlight the consequences of
violation of a client s trust. Employees will undergo investigation as well as a psych
evaluation. The material in this document will be in a future test that is non

Social work has solved many of domestic and school situation worldwide every
day. Although it is not a refined and perfect job is requires a great deal of
professionalism and tact. The mission of the social work profession is rooted in a
set of core values. These core values, embraced by social workers throughout the
profession s history, are the foundation of social work s unique purpose and
perspective: service social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of
human relationships, integrity, and competence. Violating the trust and the respect
of clients in the Social worker field is a great grievance. Social workers need to rely
upon the law and regulations in order to do their job correctly and that means not
violating the confidentiality of a client or clients. This report will address the ever
growing issues of confidentiality to bring to light the important

Kinetics of the Reaction Between Acetone and Iodine Essay
Experiment A1:
Kinetics of the Reaction between Acetone and Iodine
The key aim of this experiment was to determine the rate equation for the acid
catalysed iodination of acetone and to hence consider the insinuations of the
mechanism of the rate equation obtained.
The stoichiometric equation for the reaction between iodine and acetone is below,
followed by the rate equation (where x,y,z and k are the values to be obtained):
I2 + CH3COCH3 CH3COCH2I + HI
d[I2]/dt = k [I2]x [CH3COCH3]y [H+]z
The procedure was performed as follows: For run 1, 20cm3 of acetone, 10cm3 of
sulphuric acid and 145cm3 of water was added to a conical flask. 25cm3 of iodine
was then added to this solution which started the reaction and immediately, 20cm3 ...

For run 1: (5 5.5)/(7.9 6) = 0.263
For run 2: (7 9)/(14 9) = 0.4
For run 3: (5.5 10)/(17 9) = 0.563
The equation of the line in run 1 between the two points is y y1 = m(x x1) y 4.4=
0.263(x 10) therefore y = 0.263x + 1.77
The ratio between the gradients for run 1 and run 2 is 1:2 as 0.4/0.263 is
approximately half, whereas the gradient for runs 2 and 3 is 3:2 as 0.563/0.4 is
approximately 1.5.

Interactions Between Fungi And DC
Interactions between Fungi and DC: How DC can be used to develop vaccines?
Like mentioned previously, DC initiates activation of different types of cells based
on type of molecules/antigens at site of infection. Hence different forms of fungi
initiate different mechanisms of immunity. When DC pulsed with fungus are
introduced into mice, they can initiate specific immune response against that
antigen by activating CD4+ Th cells. The analysis of antigen specific proliferation
and cytokine production from CD4+ Th cells was done. These cells were collected
from draining from lymph nodes and spleens of mice, in which fungus pulsed DCs
were introduced. Results showed in mice immunized with conidia or yeast pulsed
DCs, levels of IFN бµ ћ were higher... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DCs pulsed with inactive yeast cells were not able to induce maturation of DC in
vitro and hence these cells were unable to develop Th1 response in vivo. Because
of this, memory cells responsible for anticandidal protective immunity cannot be
developed. Not only yeast or hyphae of fungus, but fungal RNA too was able to
develop such protective immune response in vivo. In this case, fungal RNA from
yeast or conidia could do so, but not from hyphae. DCs pulsed with fungal RNA
from yeast (Candida) or conidia (Aspergillus) could develop resistance for
infections for respective species only. One more species of fungus showed similar
results for developing resistance against infection. DCs pulsed with Cryptococcus
neoformans RNA could develop resistance for pulmonary cryptococcosis in murine
model. Th1 cells producing IFN бµ ћ were increased and cells producing IL 4 were
decreased in numbers in mice showing resistance to the disease [Fig (4)]. This
indicates that the antifungal resistance is Th1 dependent. This suggests DCs can be a
potential target for developing vaccines against fungal infections. Conclusion and
future prospective: As it is well known that DCs play important role in developing
immune response, they can used as a potential target for vaccine development. More

Analysis Of Feminist Criticism In John Joyce s Ulysses
To begin with, Joyce was not a woman.
After Ulysses was published, many people thought that Molly was a prostitute
because of her sexual frankness, but with time her thoughts were appreciated by her
nuance. The problem then came with the arisen of the feminist criticism in the 1970
s, the debate started again. This is known as a big feminist moment in literature, but
the truth is that, as some critics point out, sex and how we are seen by men is not the
only thing women think at night, it may be in our thoughts, but it is not the only
single thing.
Although he was not a woman, Joyce tried to walk a mile in women s shoes, and
that is admirable and says much about him. It is known that Molly was modelled on
his wife Nora Barnacle, with whom he was deeply in love. However, Nora never
cheated on Joyce, although there were some rumours circulating about it, they were
nothing else, just rumours.
The way of thinking of the end of this the book, Ulysses, is that Joyce made an effort
imagining what would be his wife s point of view in the worst of all possible and
imaginable worlds, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While reading the novel, we take for granted our life will not be as Bloom s life,
that it will be better, but the truth is, we do not know what the future will bring, we
may find ourselves in Bloom s shoes or Molly s shoes in the future, trapped in a
marriage which is more a lie than anything else, our dreams left behind and a job
we do not really like. What Joyce is trying to tell us with this is not to despair, live
your life as if every day were the last one, and try to find happiness in every single
tiny moment: a coffee, a dance, a walk; happiness is hidden behind all those moments
which at first seem

Selective Encryption Algorithm for Highly Confidential...
1. Introduction
Conventional cryptographic algorithms, which are generally aimed at encrypting like
text data (known as NaГ Їve approach) not well suited for video encryption. This is
due to the fact that conventional cryptographic algorithms cannot process the large
volume of video data in real time. Selective encryption of the H.264/AVC bitstream
puts decoder to fully decode the encrypted video with degradation in video quality.
This perceptual encryption has low encryption and decryption time. The video data
are compressed to reduce the storage space required and to save bandwidth for
transmission. Video compression removes redundancy, so that it is difficult to guess
about a portion of a compressed bitstream to another. In addition, ... Show more

From an attacker s point of view, brute force attack may break the encryption of
sign bit and level_suffix of the same length. Intra prediction mode has only nine
different values (0 8). Hence, the encryption of intra prediction mode also has the
threat of brute force attack. So, the values of level_suffix with sign bits are encrypted
with a higher length of bitstream (6 bits for luma and 4 bits for chroma), to reduce
the threat of brute force attack. However, this affects the compression bandwidth.
We have also analyzed that without making motion vectors encryption, we can t
obtain temporal redundancy. Motion vector encryptions are proposed by several
authors [4 9]. However, analysis shown in this paper said that 45 50% of motion
vectors for each frame are not encrypted. Thus, a better encryption method is
proposed at here in expense with compression bandwidth. Overall, we should create
the balance between security and the increase in compression bandwidth.
Four selective encryption methods are discussed here. A First method named NZs
in CAVLC encrypts level_suffix values with sign bits of up to three lowest
frequency non zero DCT coefficients in CAVLC encoding for all macroblocks.
Second method named NZs in CAVLC for I only , which is same as the first method
but encryption is done only in intra coded macroblocks. Third method named MV

Should Humans Be Cloned
in any other method can now have children through cloning. I m sure you all know
some families or family members who are currently dealing with infertility. Would
you rather see them suffer without a child or see them happy with a child? Infertility
is due to genetic flaws, damages to the generative organs, hereditary deficiencies and
exposure to deadly materials and radioactivity. According to the CDC, about 7
million Americans are infertile at child bearing age. Cloningoffers infertile people a
higher chance of success. The cause for infertility is the lack of production of
feasible gametes and through cloning there is no need for feasible sperms or eggs;
any cell from the body would do. It would avoid faulty gametes and let infertile
people to have their own genetic offspring. Infertility leads to despair, divorce, and
suicide, but these can be counteracted through cloning. The article Should Humans

rather than contributors to community

Verbal Irony In Animal Farm
Why is irony so commonly used? Animal Farm is about the Russian Revolution
where the animals take over the farm and overthrow their owner, Jones, who is a
human. They promise that they will never act like humans because Jones treated
them so badly but they break that promise. In George Orwell s novel Animal Farm,
the irony is used to show how power can corrupt those who have it. Throughout the
book he uses all three methods of irony to convey that idea. Dramatic irony is the
type of irony that is used the most and the type that is the most obvious, but
situational and verbal irony are used too.
First of all, verbal irony is when the speaker says the opposite of what they mean.
This is used in Animal Farm throughout the book as ... Show more content on

This third and final type of irony is constantly used in books and movies. In Animal
Farm, it is used to show the reader how corrupt the pigs are becoming, at times when
the other animals may not realize it. The author demonstrates when the pigs start
getting suspicious when Napoleon tells the animals: Nevermind the milk, comrades!
That will be attended to. The harvest is more important. Comrade Snowball will
lead the way. I shall follow in a few minutes (p.16). When the animals came back in
the evening they noticed that the milk had disappeared. This seems pretty obvious
to the readers that Napoleon is the one who drank all the milk but the other animals
would not even think of the possibility that Napoleon is the one that stole the milk.
Later, after Snowball had been kicked off the farm, Napoleon announced that he
found out that Snowball had been an ally of Jones since the beginning. At this
moment, he asks if any other animals knew about this and demanded that they step
forward. Napoleon then got his wild dogs to rip their throats out and he even
attempted to kill Boxer, the brave horse. A few days after this incident, the animals
recalled that the Sixth Commandment No animal shall kill any other animal had
been broken. But when Muriel read it, it ran No animal shall kill any other animal
without cause (p.61). It is obvious to the audience that this commandment had been
changed because if they flip back the book to the beginning, the original list of
Commandments are still there and the last two words without cause were not there.
The irony strongly displays that all this power given to Napoleon has gone to his
head, so much so that he has resorted to killing his

Compare And Contrast Dee And Everyday Use
In the short story Everyday Use by Alice Walker, it is a family of three living in a
small house, and the story is told by Mama s perspective. In the beginning of the
story, Mama awaits her eldest daughter Dee to return home from college while
Maggie her youngest daughter is at home. Mama is aware that Maggie will be shy
and nervous when Dee arrives, while Dee will be happy, free spirited, and worry free.
Dee arrives and interacts with her familyand it is clear the obvious differences that the
two daughters have. Dee lives a more liberated, confident and carefree life while
Maggie is self conscious, shy, and reserved. In other words, Dee is an extrovert while
Maggie is an introvert. Maggie s burns impact how she is and Dee s college life...

Unlike Maggie, Dee has more opportunities than Maggie which makes Dee more

nature (Walker par. 6). Dee is held on a high pedestal because of her education and
her age. Since Dee is older she is viewed wiser, a full grown woman, and not a child
anymore. Dee is full of experiences due to college and age. The story represents the
era of The Black Power Movement and with this era, Dee has carried of new
attitude of being liberated and not oppressed by others who feel superior. In that
period, many African Americans, disappointed by the failure of integration,
gravitated to the philosophy of cultural nationalism as the means to achieve
liberation (Christian 492). In addition, Dee desires to use a different name to
ensure she was not named by one who oppressed her or her grandparents. Dee is
very proud of her roots and heritage that she is hopeful to keep the quilts to
represent her background and show them off to the world. Everyday Use is, in part,
Alice Walker s response to the concept of heritage as articulated by the black
movements of the 1960s (Christian

Why Is Zebras Endangered
Zebras are undeniably the coolest animal on earth except of course Lions, Tigers, and
Sharks. But other than those they are the coolest. The unique stripes of zebras make
them one of the animals most familiar to people. They occur in a variety of habitats,
such as grasslands, savannas, woodlands, thorny scrublands, mountains, and coastal
hills. However, various anthropogenic factors have had a severe impact on zebra
populations, in particular hunting for skins and habitat destruction. GrГ©vy s zebra
and the mountain zebra are endangered. While plains zebras are much more plentiful,
one subspecies, the quagga, became extinct in the late 19th century though there is
currently a plan, called the Quagga Project, that aims to breed zebras that

The Rise And Fall Of The Communist Party
Two men were vital to the rise and fall of the Communist Party in Russia. Their
names, which are as synonymous with reform in Russian politics as they are the
Communist party and Cold War, are Joseph Stalin and Mikhail Gorbachev. Both,
who were born peasants, rose up the social ladder to greatness one wrung at the
time. While both were radical political and economic reformers who truly left their
marks on history, their policies were antipodal at best. Gorbachev was the frigid
water to Stalin s roaring fire. Stalin s goal was to modernize and militarize Russia,
and also close it to the world, thus beginning the Cold War( Stalin ). Gorbachev s
career, which also focused on modernization, was dedicated to demilitarization and
becoming more westernized, put a focus on opening the East to the West( History
Gorbachev ). As a young man, born into poverty, Stalin became involved in criminal
activities and revolutionary politics. By 1922, Stalin had risen to the newly created
position of general secratary of the communist party. At the time this was an
insignificant post, but gave him the authority as time passed to make all party
member appointments. By this point, not even Lenin could take back control (
Joseph StalinBiography ). After Lenin s death in 1924, Stalin managed to climb the
ladder and beat the competition for control of the party ( Stalin ). Stalin s policy of
isolationism began after World War II, when he was convinced that Ally hostility
would lead to invasion

Essay on The Battle of Yorktown
The battle at Yorktown, Virginia in 1781 is most famously known as the battle that
ended the Revolutionary War. While this is true, there is still much that can be
learned from the principles applied, that still has relevance today. General George
Washington, along with his allied French commanders, Lieutenant General Jean
Baptiste Ponton de Rochambeau and Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Graves, they
exquisitely displayed how a execute siege operations. This battle also displayed a
great example of how multinational operations can be successful. In August 1781,
General George Washington, who was camped in New York, learned that Lieutenant
General Lord Charles Cornwallis army of nearly 9,000 soldiers was encamped near
Yorktown, VA (Lengel,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The combination of bombardment and lack of resupply eventually led to
Washington s allied army mounting assaults which lead to Cornwallis
surrendering. While not known when he surrendered, Cornwallis effectively
ended the Revolutionary War, as this was the last major battle of the six year
conflict between the Americans and the British. We, as a military can still learn
much from the actions that George Washington took. The siege operation that was
implemented emphasized just how important it can be for an army to have the
ability to replenish their supplies. Without this capability, the British troops were
rendered ineffective because they were severely depleted of rations, manpower,
and even bullets. The Colonial Army basically gave General Cornwallis no other
option than to lay down their arms and surrender. While a conventional siege may
not be possible in our current areas of operation, the Battle of Yorktown does
display the importance of severing the enemies supply channels. Soldiers who are
tired hungry and weak will eventually begin to lose the will to fight. Couple that
with a constant barrage of incoming artillery, and they may feel their situation to be
all the more dire. If we can apply some of the ideas of Washington, it may help us to
become more successful in future operations. George Washington knew that once his
and the French soldiers were in place, Cornwallis would have nowhere to retreat

Legion Inappropriate For Children
Before a film is released, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) sets
strict guidelines for the rating of the film, thoroughly reviewed to make sure that it is
appropriate for the intended audience. Depending on the severity of the content, the
film is rated. Descriptions are listed about why the filmreceived a particular rating.
With these ratings in place, one can easier decide if they wish to view the film.
These ratings help parents know what their children are watching. Parents often exert
this right when approving what their children watch. Parents often do not wish for
their children to be exposed to violence, sexual themes, pervasive language, drug and
alcohol use, or terrifying images or themes. For those reasons, children are not
allowed to watch movies of the horror genre. The movie Legion is one such movie.
Due to the overwhelming depictions of violence, challenging and disturbing
