INITIAL RESEARCH I started this whole project off by the brief. The brief helped me as it gave me an understanding of what I need to complete in the brief and how to link my projects back to the brief. It also helps me understand my audience and what he target audience is for this project and how to lean into the interests and what the ideal customer is for my short film. I then started analysing and researching different media products of short films that are a similar genre to my idea of a short film and explained more about different codes and conventions and what I want to include in my short film to build tension etc. I also did the audience research and talked more about the target audience and the psychological profile for the audience. This helped me overall ndertsand my project fully before I continued filming for my short film.
PRE-PRODUCTION For my pre-production I have evidence of all my documents, I created story board for my creative documents showing my idea process and my potential layout ideas for my short film, noting the different type of shots I want to include in my short film. I then got contracts and documents that confirmed permission by my actress that it is okay to film her and the risks to certain location, I also have forms for the location getting permission to film for a day in the Secret Garden Park . Lastly, I got forms for the resources and the equipment I used while filming for my short film. I included pictures and an explanation for everything I added into the PowerPoint. This helped me understand the professional practice and the importance of forms.
PRODUCTION & POSTPRODUCTION In my production diary, I included the dates in my shoots and barriers to overcome and what I did. I show the resources I am using with photos and why I use them instead of other options. I reflected on the timetable and the dates on when I'll be filming and talking about any barriers and how I haven or will overcome them. I show the editing process and explained every screenshot I had of that process and what I did to edit my short films and the reasons I made stylistic decisions about my short film. I gathered feedback on my drafts and mentioned things that I could do better next time and why. As I work I self assess and compare to the existing work I researched at the start of my college year. This helped me keep on track with my editing skills and my organisational skills of taking screenshots of my editing.
FINAL EVALUATION Overall, when looking back on my short film, early on I decided to research into Sunderland bright lights and my audience. I did a pitch presentation when doing my audience research that gave me a view on what they would prefer to watch. When looking at my experimentation, I decided to shoot my short film in many different scenes. I did different angles when filming so that I could make a draft and have some spare archive shots. Later, after this I looked into my postproduction and what shots I have done. I investigated why this worked and used different angles and sizes to change it up. After everything I feel like my project has worked very well. I wanted to make sure my audience would like my mixed genre film and that it would highlight Sunderland culture.
