Evoluism: Quantifying the Influence of Consciousness on
Evolutionary Trajectories of Complex Systems

Abstract
The term Evoluism is introduced as a quantifiable process of cognitive-systemic synergy,
delineating the dynamic interplay between neurocognitive factors and the evolutionary trajec-
tories of complex systems, spanning biological organisms to macrosystems. Philosophically,
Evoluism manifests as the ceaseless unfolding of human cognition, a conscious nexus shaping
systemic evolution. This study presents a theoretical model, substantiated by macroeconomic
data (2001–2021) with causality analysis, affirming the influence of neurocognitive factors on
evolutionary trajectories (β synergy= 0.70,.001). An advanced model is proposed for future
validation.
Evolutionary Trajectories, Macrosystems.
1 Introduction
The evolution of technological and social systems has been scrutinized through economic and so-
ciological lenses, yet the role of consciousness as an active determinant remains underexplored.
Evoluism emerges as a novel paradigm wherein neurocognitive factors—thought, learning—shape
the evolutionary trajectories of complex systems on Earth and in near-Earth space. Evoluism tran-
scends neo-Darwinism (Darwin, 1859) by positing consciousness as a formative force, integrating
systemic insights from von Bertalanffy (1968) and Haken (1977). Consciousness is operationalized
through measurable neurocognitive indices, such as fMRI-derived neural activity (Human Connec-
tome Project) and AI cognitive models reflecting attention dynamics. Cognitive-systemic synergy
is defined as the augmentation of evolutionary trajectories (X
tive factors (C synergy. Philosophically, this embodies the
unfolding of human cognition, rooted in Habermas’s (1968) notion of knowledge as emancipation
and Popper’s (1972) concept of progress through falsification, wherein consciousness actively molds
systemic evolution. In alignment with Evoluism’s doctrine, which eschews personal authority, this
work is presented under the collective pseudonym Evoluit-M, emphasizing the primacy of the idea
over individual identity.
2 Theoretical Model
Evoluism is formalized through the baseline equation:

where:

For future inquiry, an advanced model is posited:

where this structure is offered as a hypothetical framework awaiting empirical validation with
2025 data, with

3 Empirical Validation
3.1 Data
Data from 2001–2021 were utilized:
and neural activity via fMRI (Human Connectome Project, up to 2024), reflecting cognitive load;
X
added].
3.2 Analysis
- Cross-sectional (2021, n=85): Ordinary Least Squares with instrumental variables (lagged educa-
tional policies): log(Patents per million
i+ 1) = 0+ 1· i+ 2· i) + i. Result:
β1= 0.95 (p <.01). - Panel (2001–2021, it+1) =
αi+ t+ 1· it+ 2· it) + it. Result: 1= 0.70 (p <.001), indicating bidi-
rectional causality (p <.05). A preliminary validation targets AI ecosystems, where cognitive
investments correlate with innovation rates (e.g., OpenAI growth, 2015–2021).
4 Discussion
Evoluism affirms that neurocognitive factors propel evolutionary trajectories (β synergy= 0.70),
as evidenced by the data. Yet, the temporal limit of 2021 data constrains generalization. The
βsynergy= 0.70 finding, while robust, awaits micro-scale validation (e.g., AI or biotech systems).
Alternatives include random mutations (Darwin, 1859) or economic drivers (Schumpeter), necessi-
tating further scrutiny with 2025 data. Collaboration with neurobiologists and growth economists
is planned to refine methodology.
5 Conclusions
Evoluism establishes consciousness as a formative influence in the evolution of macrosystems on
Earth. The advanced model, contingent upon 2025 data, beckons for validation of environmental
and technological impacts.
