DEFINITION Examination malpractice is simply described as act cheating during examination, or any activity carried out before, during or after an examination by a candidate or agents who could be parents, siblings or hired persons, aids, personnel of examination bodies or stakeholders like the school officials that distort the expected and valid outcomes.

REASONS FOR EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE CORRUPTION Examination malpractices could largely be nurtured by corruption among examination officials and educators. Effects of Examination Malpractice

PRESSURE TO SUCCEED There is so much pressure from parents, educators and society on students to be the best – do whatever it takes.

LACK OF PREPARATION One of the factors is lack of preparation and poor study methods that many a times serve as an influential reason for the students to indulge in unfair means during exam.

FEAR OF FAILURE The fear of failure in exams and its implications may force students to resort to malpractice.

PEER INFLUENCE Excessive peer pressure can render students into support for examination malpractice both in the source (usage) and execution of test fraud.

POOR TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCES If proper understanding is to be effective in the classroom because of poor teaching methodologies and lack learning materials, students may resorted into cheating.

DEFECTED EXAMINATION SYSTEMS In addition various deficiencies in the examination system such as free supervision inferno secure papers may promote malpractice.

WAYS TO CURB EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE STRENGTHEN EXAMINATION SECURITY: Implement stringent measures to secure examination materials and ensure rigorous supervision during examinations.

PROMOTE ETHICAL BEHAVIOUR: Instil the values of honesty, integrity, and hard work in students from an early age.   IMPROVE TEACHING AND LEARNING: Enhance the quality of instruction and provide sufficient learning resources to ensure comprehensive understanding of the material.

CONCLUSION By comprehensively addressing the causes and effects of examination malpractice and implementing robust strategies to combat it, we can uphold the integrity of the educational system and ensure that academic achievements are genuinely earned.
