National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008 (RA No. 9512)
This act provides for the promotion of environmental awareness through environmental education which shall encompass environmental concepts and principles, environmental laws, the state of international and local environment, local environmental best practices, the threats of environmental degradation and its impact on human well-being, the responsibility of the citizenry to the environment and the value of conservation, protection and rehabilitation of natural resources and the environment.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) primary government agency responsible for the conservation, management, development and proper use of the country’s environment and natural resources.
It is mandated to be implemented by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) under the supervision of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), along with the other various environmental laws, rules and regulations, particularly:
FUNCTION OF EMB The EMB formulates plans, programs, and appropriate environmental quality standards for the prevention and control of pollution and the protection of the environment, and ensures their implementation. CONTENT OF THE ACTS
Section 1. Title. - This Act shall be known as the "National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008". Pointers: Emphasizes the following: 1. This act was made to protect and advance the right of the people to a balanced and healthful ecology 2. Recognizing the vital role of the youth in nation building; 3. The role of education to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerating social progress & in promoting total human liberation & development 4. Promoting awareness on the role of natural resources when it comes to our country’s economic growth 5. Importance of environmental conservation & ecological balance towards sustained national development.
AGENCIES Affiliated with the ACT In consultation with experts on the environment and the academe, various agencies shall integrate environmental education in their curricula and shall lead in the implementation of public education and awareness programs on environmental protection and conservation through collaborative interagency and multi-sectoral effort at all levels.
ROLES OF AGENCIES Affiliated with the ACT 1. Department of Science and Technology (DOST) The DOST is mandated to create programs that will ensure that students receive science-based quality information on environmental issues to encourage the development of environment-friendly solutions, devices, equipment and facilities.
AGENCIES Affiliated with the ACT 2. Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) The DENR shall have the primary responsibility of periodically informing all agencies concerned on current environmental updates, including identifying priority environmental education issues for national action and providing strategic advice on the environmental education activities.

Seat Belts Use Act of 1999 (RA No. 8750)
An act requiring the mandatory compliance by motorists of private and public vehicles to use seat belt devices and requiring vehicle manufacturers to install seat belt devices in all their manufactured vehicles.
This act aims to secure and safeguard its citizenry, particularly the passengers and drivers of private and public motor vehicles, from the ruinous and extremely injurious effects of vehicular accidents. The policy includes the mandatory wearing of seat belt devices by the drivers and front seat passengers of private and public motor vehicles. What does Republic Act 8750 or the Seat Belt Law implies?
T he purpose of the Seat Belt Law in the Philippines is to reduce the chances of deaths and injuries from road crashes. This law also bans children six years and younger from occupying the front seat of any vehicle with a running engine even if the child is wearing a seatbelt as stated in Section 5. As the number of motor vehicles plying the streets increases, so does the number of road crashes wherein a number of fatalities and injuries are due to the lack of seat belt or failure to wear one. Section 11: The LTO shall be the agency primarily responsible in the enforcement and implementation of this Act. Within sixty (60) days from the effectivity of this Act, the LTO shall formulate and issue the necessary implementing rules, regulations and guidelines and shall mobilize available resources to assure the effective implementation of this Act: Provided, That the LTO or its successor tasked with the implementation of this Act may require the use of special car seats for infants, if it is deemed necessary . Section 12. Penalties and Fines. — In the enforcement of this Act, the LTO shall impose fines against drivers, operators, owners of vehicles, manufacturers, assemblers, importers and/or distributors for violation of this Act. The following shall be the basis in defining fine and penalty provisions of the IRR to be promulgated pursuant to Section 11 hereof, provided that six (6) months grace period shall be allowed to lapse to conduct a nationwide information campaign: PENALTIES AND FINE IF NOT WEARING SEATBELT
(1) On the driver (a) For failure to wear the prescribed seat belt devices and/or failure to require his passengers to wear the prescribed seat belt device, a minimum fine of One hundred pesos (P100) but not to exceed One thousand pesos (P1,000) for the first violation; a minimum fine of Two hundred pesos (P200) but not to exceed Two thousand pesos (P2,000) for the second violation; and a minimum fine of Five hundred pesos (P500) but not to exceed Five thousand pesos (P5,000) and suspension of driver's license for a period of one (1) week for the third and succeeding violations; PENALTIES AND FINE IF NOT WEARING SEATBELT
(b) Public utility vehicles shall post appropriate signages instructing front seat passengers to wear seat belts when inside the vehicle. Non-compliance hereof will hold both the driver and the operator liable and shall be fined a minimum of Three hundred pesos (P300) but not to exceed Three thousand pesos (P3,000) for every violation; PENALTIES AND FINE IF NOT WEARING SEATBELT
