1-Using Power Point
•Used wisely, PowerPoint and similar programs can be
an effective tool to help audiences remember your
message, while allowing you to prove, reinforce, and
support your claims.
•Used unwisely, PowerPoint becomes a distraction that
upstages the presenter and buries the message. With its
tumbling, whooshing, flying, singing and screeching
graphics, PowerPoint can take on a life of its own.
•All these bells and whistles can disconnect the slides
from the presenter and destroy the reason for using
them in the first place--to provide an audience with at-
a-glance comprehension to support the presentation.

Using Power Point

To use visual aids effectively, remember to:
•Create visual aids that parallel the order of points in
a presentation.
•Use visual aids that are appropriate for the subject
of the presentation and the audience.
•Use visual aids that are simple and easy for the
audience to understand.
•Make visual aids large enough to be seen by the
audience.
Keep visual aids attractive through features such as
color and clarity.
•Practice with technology, pointing out key parts of
the visual aids, and introducing background
