Role of proximity sensor & its types Proximity sensors are vital in industries, offering automation, safety, and efficiency without direct contact. Inductive sensors use electromagnetic induction to detect metal objects, suitable for position sensing and collision detection. Capacitive sensors alter capacitance to detect different materials, often used in level sensing and liquid detection, such as in automatic pump control systems. LJ12A3-4-Z/BX and CR18-8DN are popular examples of inductive and capacitive sensors, respectively. Source: Components 101 Inductive sensor Capacitive sensor

Ultrasonic & photoelectric proximity sensor Source: Components 101 Ultrasonic proximity sensors use sound waves to detect objects by measuring the time it takes for waves to bounce back. They're commonly found in presence detection, level sensing, and collision avoidance systems, as well as in autonomous vehicles. Popular examples include MB1242 and MB1001. Photoelectric proximity sensors employ light to detect objects, with types like through-beam, retro-reflective, and diffuse reflective. They're widely used in conveyor systems and object counting. Examples include E18-D8NK and TCRT5000.

Magnetic proximity sensor Magnetic proximity sensors detect objects by sensing changes in magnetic fields, using components like reed switches or Hall-effect sensors. They're frequently used in speed sensing, door position detection, and security systems. Types include reed switches, Hall effect sensors (digital/analog), and GMR inductive sensors. Examples include SEN-K11010, MC-38, and PR-3150. Source: Components 101
