Recommended dose of fertilizer for wheat crop is 120 : 60:40 kg/ha and nitrogen is applied in two equal split. The source of fertilizer area Urea and DAP. Calculate the fertilizer requirement in kg for wheat crop. Solution : Now, Urea contain 46 % N, DAP contain 18 % N and 46 % P and MOP contain 60 % K2O. So first we should calculate the quantity of DAP Therefore, required quantity of DAP For 46 kg P2O5 we required 100 kg of DAP
For 1 kg P2O5 ……………. 100/46 Therefore, for 60 kg P2O5, how much quantity of DAP is required ? = 100/46× 60 = 130 kg DAP/ha Now, DAP also contain 18 % N Therefore from 130 kg DAP = 18/100× 130 = 24 Kg N obtained
Now, The basal N require is 60 (120/2 (60 kg N applied as basal and 60 kg applied as top dressing) kg/ha, but 24 kg nitrogen already received from DAP, Therefore remaining 36 kg (60-24) N should be supplied from the urea To fulfil the remaining quantity of nitrogen 46 kg nitrogen found in 100 kg urea 1 kg……………….. 100/46 Therefore for 36 kg N……… 100/46 × 36 = 78 kg urea is required for fulfilling the Nitrogen need for basal dose Therefore, at the time of sowing the quantity required for basal dose/ application = 78 kg Urea + 130 kg DAP However for 2nd split (top dressing) dose Total nitrogen required for crop is 120 kg/ha And Nitrogen applied as basal dose is 60 kg/ha So Total nitrogen required for wheat crop – Total Nitrogen applied as basal dose =120-60 = 60 kg N remained
Remaining amount of nitrogen will supplied by urea (Straight fertilizer) As we know that 46 kg nitrogen found in 100 kg urea 1 kg nitrogen found in………. 100/46 60 kg Nitrogen will be supplied by 100/46 × 60 = 130.4 kg urea will be required for top dressing in wheat crop. For potassium
