Hey!
I’m Aadya Mane and I’m from MYP-2 / Grade 7. We
were given a task to create a PPT or Imovie on the
Female Explorers and adventurers of some centuries,
their contribution, obstacles they faced and a small
tribute to them. I have decided to make a PPT and I
hope you all will learn a lot from this presentation!

“The most difficult thing is the decision
to act , the rest is merely tenacity”
—Amelia Earhart

What are discoveries?

Discoveries refer to the act or process of finding
or learning something new, often previously
unknown or unrecognized. Discoveries can occur
across various fields, including science,
exploration, literature, art, and more. They often
involve uncovering new knowledge, insights, or
phenomena that expand our understanding of the
world around us.

Beatriz Fernandez de Bobadilla
(15th)
Beatriz Fernández de Bobadilla, also
known as Beatriz de Bobadilla y
Ossorio, was a Spanish noblewoman
who lived during the 15th century. She
was the governor of Cuba for a brief
period from 1511 to 1512 following the
death of her husband, Diego Colón, the
son of Christopher Columbus. Beatriz
Fernández de Bobadilla played a
significant role in the early colonial
history of the Americas, overseeing
administrative matters and making
decisions regarding the governance of
the island.

Isabel Godin des Odonais (17th)
Isabel Godin des Odonais was a Frenchwoman
who became known for her perilous journey
through the Amazon rainforest in the 18th
century, but her story began in the late 17th
century. In 1749, she attempted to join her
husband, Jean Godin, in the Amazon, who was
a member of a French expedition. Due to
various hardships and delays, their journey
was prolonged, and Isabel was separated from
the main group. She faced numerous
challenges, including navigating through dense
jungles and hostile indigenous territories.
Despite these difficulties, she eventually
reunited with her husband after a journey that
lasted several years.

Mary Kingsley (19th)
Mary Kingsley was a British explorer
who traveled extensively in West Africa
during the late 19th century. She
embarked on solo expeditions to remote
regions, studying indigenous cultures
and collecting specimens of flora and
fauna. Kingsley's travels challenged
Victorian-era gender norms, and her
writings about her experiences became
widely acclaimed. Her most famous
works include "Travels in West Africa"
and "West African Studies."

Amelia Earhart (20th)
Amelia Earhart was an American aviator
who gained fame for her pioneering
flights in the early 20th century. In 1932,
she became the first woman to fly solo
nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean.
Earhart set several aviation records
during her career and played a significant
role in promoting the advancement of
women in aviation. She disappeared in
1937 while attempting to
circumnavigate the globe, sparking one
of the most enduring mysteries in
aviation history.
