About This Presentation

A Carp Fish Hatchery is a specialized facility designed for the controlled breeding and production of carp fish species. It serves as a crucial component in aquaculture, focusing on the artificial propagation of carp to meet commercial and conservation objectives. Typically, a Carp Fish Hatchery inc...

Rangamati Govt. College Welcome to Fish Hatchery Presention Excursion 2021 Department of Zoology

Overall Supervision : Professor Parvin Akter Madam Head of Department, Zoology Professor Rasheda Madam Ass. Prof, Department of Zoology Mr. Imran Hossain Lab Assistant, Zoology department Carp fish Mohammad Musa Topic of Discussion : “Work description of an ideal Hatchery ” Group : Presented by :

“A hatchery is a controlled environment where fish larvae are produced through artificial breeding. The water body where fish and shrimp eggs are hatched artificially is also called a hatchery. Below are some still images of a hatchery” Definition of fish hatchery

Types of hatchery : Hatchery mainly has three types. 1 . Carp hatchery fish 2 . Prawn hatchery fish 3 . Bagda prawn hatchery Furthermore, based on size and shape, hatcheries can also be divided into various categories. For example: 1 . Large-sized hatchery 2 . Medium-sized hatchery 3 . Small-sized hatchery Site Selection : Site selection is a crucial aspect before establishing any hatchery. Typically, the following considerations are extremely important during site selection for hatchery construction: natural soil type, water source, pollution-free area, topography, electricity, and communication facilities, etc.

My internship hatchery: I completed my internship under Professor Nozrul Islam Arju at Baddi Ghat, Chittagong, under "Baddi Ghat Agro Fisheries and Farms." It's a large-scale fish hatchery primarily focusing on the breeding and cultivation of carp and other species of fish fry in ponds across various districts of our country. Below is a presentation of the method of pond production through artificial propagation of carp fish fry, based on my internship and practical experience.

Fish Collection At least 1 kg of adult and mature carp, along with mature eggs, must be collected from the market or any reputable fish hatchery. Subsequently, these collected fish should be observed in a breeding tank for 8-10 hours to remove weak and unhealthy individuals. Fish Collection Monitoring in Breeding Tank

Before starting artificial breeding of all types of fish including carp, it is essential to take some necessary preparations. For example: 1. Identification of male and female fish: Typically , applying gentle pressure behind the fish's anal fin will release white-colored (sperm). This identifies it as a male fish, and when eggs are released, it confirms it as a female fish . 2. Collection of injection for artificial breeding: For artificial breeding of various types of fish, including carp (0.5 kg / less wrinkle, 10 kg ointment), the most effective injection is used. 3 . Preparation of breeding tanks: To breed fish, various aquariums or square-foot pools (the measurement is not accurate) are prepared as breeding tanks Inbreeding of Carp Fish Male fish Female fish

Apply in Homone Injection After 8 to 10 hours of observation, weak and unhealthy fish are separated, and strong fish are prepared for breeding. Each fish is then individually given various types of hormone injections, including "Spawn Pro Hormone," at a rate of 0.5 ml per kilogram, ensuring clean, correct temperature water is maintained in the breeding tank. Applying Process Hormone Injection

Breeding Process After the breeding process is complete, male and female fish treated with hormones are kept together in the same tank at a ratio of 2:3, using a shower from above to ensure sufficient oxygen and preservation. Fish in the breeding tank are given eggs within 6 to 8 hours. After the egg-laying process is complete, the fish are removed from the breeding tank. Upon removal, fresh eggs are safely stored for a short period using fresh eggs from Polynet used for egg storage In-Breeding Process Collection egg from poly-net

Fertilized eggs Molecule production jar Operational activities for up to 72 hours Egg Proction After the breeding process is completed, the collected fertilized eggs are carefully cleaned and gently transferred to hatching jars for controlled production of fry. From mechanically released eggs, fry are produced within the next 48-72 hours.

Prawn Fry Rearing Fry pond : After hatching, when the fry emerge from the eggs, they initially reside in the yolk sac attached to their bodies. Once these yolk sacs are fully absorbed from the fry's stomachs, they start consuming natural feed. This period of natural feed intake continues for the next 3-5 days, during which the fry pond is referred to as a fry pond Carp Fish Fry

Rearing of fertile ponds Rearing fingerlings: When fingerlings are released into the pond after 12 to 18 days of leaving the nursery pond, they are referred to as rearing fingerlings. They resemble grains to some extent, hence they are called rearing fingerlings. Generally, after collecting fingerlings from the hatchery or separating them from the hatchery, they are maintained in a pond with an area of 20 square feet and a depth of 3 to 5 feet for 12 to 18 days. This is called rearing fingerling maintenance. At this time, each fingerling's length is between 25-30 mm and weighs up to 0.2- Ature Pond Carp fish fry

Fingerling fry Fingerling pond : Fingerlings are classified as fingerling ponds when they reach a size of 7-15 cm and a weight of 10-30 grams. During this time, they resemble the size of a finger and are called fingerling. Selection and rearing of fingerlings from fingerling ponds for market readiness are done using oxygen-rich polybags.
