‘NO FLAGMAN’ ‘NO WORK’ POLICY Visual contact at all times Leave ‘STOP’ Distraction ‘STOP’ Unsure ‘STOP’

DURING WORK Take position;  Watch the machine Keep safe distance; Watch the machine Do not turn back; Watch the machine  

THE RIGHT PLACE / POSITION Location and visibility is the most important factors in flagging operations. Observe the following: Place the flagman at points of maximum visibility. Flagman should be on the shoulder and opposite to the active work area. Ensure that flagman are easily identified by traffic and not confused with other workers in the area. Stand alone next to the active work area. Do not allow other workers to passing through around the flagging area.

FLAGMAN and BLIND AREA The flagman shall ensure that blind spot area around the equipment is clear of people and materials as well. For reverse only.

EQUIPMENT BLIND AREA DIAGRAM BLIND SPOTS OF EACH EQUIPMENT

REMINDERS Flagman should be in front of the truck while truck is in the unloading motion (raising of the dumping bed). When dumping of materials, there should always be a 5 meters distance from the edge of the truck.

ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES Flagman shall ensure the area of activity is clear of materials and people. It should be barricaded. Flagman should always stay in the line of sight in relation to the equipment operator. Flagman shall advice equipment operator if any unsafe situation arises during or prior to activity. Flagman shall coordinate with site supervisor in case of obstruction in the path. Flagman shall assist equipment operator in daily checks of equipment. Flagman to establish a proper hand signal that is understandable to equipment operator. Flagman shall always guide the operator or assist the equipment vehicle while and during travelling .

ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES Flagman shall ensure that his equipment (Flags) is properly provided. “NO FLAG NO TRAVEL” Policy is properly implemented. Helps vehicles move safely in their work areas and help the drivers and operators to avoid hazards and the potential of hitting people and other equipment. They are another set of eyes to ensure that work goes on safely. Controlling the operation of vehicles on site, and ensure safe parking. Safe distance from rotating equipment and excavation edges, giving signals.
