Food Rescue Food Rescue is an team which collects fresh leftovers from various eateries. Not only do we save food but save children’s life!!

THE IDEA The BIG BANG IDEA was to collect the excess food from various eateries across the city and distribute this food to people who were unable to afford even one meal per day.

PLAN IN ACTION WE approached leading eateries and convinced them to give us their EXCESS food items. After a few positive responses we decided to liaison with Orphanages and other NGO’S . WE created an infrastructure for execution of food collection and distribution.

S peedbumps 30 restaurants approached. 15 refused 5 that agreed withdrew halfway

Way Forward 10 restaurants responded positively. Daily food collected - 40 cupcakes , 35 loaves of bread, 30 savory items, 20 pieces of sandesh , 1 crate of noodles, 1 crate of sweets. 250 children and adults fed DAILY !!

The Impact

Reaching out to the kids Over 200 kids are fed by the “ Food Rescue” crew everyday. This food has not only saved their lives but has given them the energy to work , thus changing their lives.

School awareness

Our interactive sessions Over 800 students , both middle school and senior school were addressed on out project “Food Rescue”. This interactive session largely contributed to the awareness programme conducted by our team.
