From the Pulpit to the Artificial: Rethinking Islamic Communication in the Age of Artificial Intelligence Siti Zaida Hanum, Baidawi , 3 rd International Conference on Islam and Society

Research Agenda Introduction Method Result Discussion Conclution 2

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) is slowly changing global communication patterns and creating new dynamics. This situation also affects religious discourse, missionary practices, and the involvement of the Muslim community. If traditional Islamic communication is rooted in traditional authority (the pulpit), then the presence of machine-based communication platforms has transformed it into an artificial construct (simulation). 3 Introduction

How does AI transform the form and scope of da'wah in contemporary Muslim societies? What ethical, theological, and cultural challenges arise when religious authority is mediated by algorithms? How can AI be responsibly integrated into Islamic communication without eroding authenticity and spiritual values? Research Question 4

Method Methodologically, this research uses qualitative literature review combined with critical discourse analysis of the latest literature on religion, technology, and digital media 5

Framework Theory 6 Mediatization Describing the phenomenon of co-articulation between social and cultural changes on the one hand and changes in media and communication on the other.

Framework Theory 7 Islamic Communication The process of conveying information and messages based on the values of the Qur'an and Hadith

About Us Result and Discussion The findings of this study indicate that AI enables personalisation and expansion of the reach of religious messages in ways that were previously unforeseen. This has the potential to create cross-cultural and linguistic inclusivity. At the same time, there is a risk of a decline in traditional authority, the commodification of religious knowledge, and the homogenisation of Muslim identity as a result of algorithmic filtering. 8

Furthermore, ethical issues related to authenticity, misinformation, and digital surveillance challenge the foundations of trust within Muslim communities and traditional religious authorities that have been firmly established. A balance between technological adaptation and spiritual responsibility is needed in order to improve Islamic communication in the era of artificial intelligence. AI can be utilised as a means of ethical preaching, inclusive communication, and cross-cultural dialogue—provided that issues of authority, accountability, and authenticity are maintained. There is a need for literacy in Islamic communication practices in the era of artificial intelligence. 9 Result and Discussion

Adaptive to digital technological innovations without abandoning established traditional religious authority. Artificial intelligence, as a product of modern technology, has been used as an instrument to strengthen Islamic communication practices, digital da'wah innovation, and the parallel integration of religion and media. Media literacy and religious literacy are needed, both for religious actors and the Muslim community, in order to make AI an instrument of religious outreach or a reference for obtaining religious knowledge. 10 Conclusion
