Biochemistry Lecture GBSN (Unit 1) Basic concept of Chemistry by, Miss Areesha Ahmad Lecturer

Plasma is often called “the fourth state of matter,” along with solid, liquid and gas. Just as a liquid will boil, changing into a gas

pH In  chemistry ,  pH  also referred to as  acidity  or  basicity , historically denotes " potential  of  hydrogen " (or "power of hydrogen"). It is a  logarithmic scale  used to specify the  acidity  or  basicity  of  aqueous solutions .  A solution with a higher concentration of hydrogen ions than pure water is an acid, while a solution with a lower concentration is a base. The pH scale is logarithmic and inversely indicates the  activity  of  hydrogen ions  in the solution. pH is measured on a scale of 0 to 14. On this scale, a pH value of 7 is neutral, which means it is neither acidic nor basic. A pH value of less than 7 means it is more acidic, and a pH value of more than 7 means it is more basic.
