Genesis Part 2 Guard your est and don’t be spiritually tired.
Are you physically tired? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 1 in 3 adults in the United States reported not getting enough rest or sleep every day. Sleep deficiency is linked to many chronic health problems, including heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and depression.
The consequence… Errors at work snappy with family Poor decisions Health Also the give and take
Other than sleeping what else can we do So we aren’t worn out and tired? Make the Sabbath a priority Make it a rest/fun day Refrain from work on that day
So what does the Bible say?
Genesis 2:1-3 NIV ”Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.“
Genesis Chapter 2:1-3 Day 7 After finishing his creation in 6 days, God rested on the 7th day This was set as an example for use to follow God bless the 7th day and made it holy
Exodus 20:8-10 NIV ”“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.“
Exodus 20:11 NIV ”For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Hebrews 4:8-11 NIV ””For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.”
Mark 6:30-31 NIV ”The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”“
Jesus recognized that the disciples were tired and needed rest( “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”“ ). ”So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.“ Mark 6:32 NIV You should guard your rest, if not can you do everything you were meant to do for Christ?
Sabbath Laws New Law vs Old Law Exodus 23:10-11 NIV ”“For six years you are to sow your fields and harvest the crops, but during the seventh year let the land lie unplowed and unused. Then the poor among your people may get food from it, and the wild animals may eat what is left. Do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove.“
Exodus 23:12-13 NIV ”“Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed. “Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.“
Should we rest the land? The benefits God designed the earth to self heal Should every animal rest? Doesn’t mean neglect. Luke 14:5 Everyone in your household should rest even works/guests too.
