MANUFACTURING
•Thebasicrawmaterialforthemanufacturingofgood
qualityglassissilica,whichinnatureoccursasquartz(
SiO2),thematerialmeltsat17000Candiscooledrapidly
withoutallowingIttoundergorecrystallization.
•Quartzandotherdesiredcomponentsareheatedin
specialmeltingfurnace.Themoltenglasscomesout,
ratherflows,fromthesefurnacescontinuously.Various
Glassshapesareobtainedfromthismoltenglassbyone
ofthefollowingprocess.

specialpropertyofincreasingitsmeltingpointandresistanceagainstthermal
shock.ThisGlasscanbeheatedorcooledagain&againwithoutanyriskof
damage.Thisisbecausethecoefficientofexpansiongetsreducedconsiderably
bytheadditionofboronOxide

moresheetsinsuchawaythatpartialvacuumiscausedinthe
