RISKY BEHAVIOR - is defined as any consciously on non-consciously controlled behavior with a perceived uncertainty about its outcome, and/or about its possible benefits, or cost for the physical, economic or psychosocial well being of oneself or others.

a baby and toddlers when they start to walk and run teenagers when going on a date or meeting a stranger or even in trying sports adults when they need to find a job or move to a new place.

Types of Risky Behaviors & Implications : UNHEALTHY DIETING RISKY SEXUAL BEHAVIOR

Types of Risky Behaviors and Implications

Dangerous driving -speeding, disobeying traffic rules, drink driving and texting while driving

FIGHTING -typically used by teenagers to solve a conflict or argument. -teenagers want to belong to a gang, prompting them to follow along with the group’s behavior -injuries may range from bruises to death if weapons involved

-legally drinking and smoking are limited to the ages 18 to 20 respectively SUBSTANCE ABUSE -using drugs, smoking or drinking a lot. -has cumulative effects on health that can end up with illnesses like respiratory diseases and heart diseases or addiction like others.

-having unsafe sex and sex with many partners increase the risk of developing sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and unplanned pregnancy. Pregnancy can disrupt teenagers’ education RISKY SEXUAL BEHAVIOR

-can lead to obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol level, diabetes and coronary heart diseases. UNHEALTHY DIETING -some teenagers lose weight by taking pills, vomiting on purpose and taking laxatives, causing more harm to their body.

Avoiding Risky Behaviors and Situations

-teenagers shoul d talk to trusted adults to get their advice on risky decisions. Such as parents, older siblings or school counselors.

-keep our body and mind healthy and fit in order to think rationally and make good decisions. -eating healthy, having an active lifestyle, having enough rest and keeping a positive attitude promote overall good health.

-read and learn more from books, internet or even our own past experience -in-depth knowledge allows us to understand clearly, think creatively and make better decisions

-putting on safety belts while driving, wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle and stopping at red lights -do not involve in drug abuse and violence, and do not smoke in prohibited areas such as in schools and hospitals

-when we play games or sport that are deemed dangerous, wear protective gears such as helmets, gloves, knee pads and elbow pads to protect ourselves from injuries.

-avoid being alone with those of opposite sex -avoid lonely and dark lanes -we should always be in a group when we are in unfamiliar places
