Try to look at the pictures on the screen, what do you call those things? What can you say about them? Why is it essential to have those things in our home?

Same matter also on working your written outputs like journals, reasearch, essays etc, you need a tool called Graphic Organizer in order to make your work clean, neat and organize as possible.

What is graphic organizer by the way? A graphic organizer is a teaching and learning tool that is used to organize information and ideas in a way that is easy to comprehend and internalize . By integrating text and visuals, graphic organizers show relationships and connections between concepts, terms, and facts.

These are the four common types of Graphic Organizers: Compare and Contrast or Venn Diagram Cause-and-Effect Diagram Concept Map Flow Diagram or Sequence Chart

1. Compare and Contrast or Venn Diagram - used to identify the similarities and differences between two or more concepts. The most commonly used organizer, this instructional tool is found in textbooks, on standardized tests, and in teacher resource materials.

By looking at the example, how can we compare , contrast, and write it into a sentence? * Bill and Kendra are fourth-graders and both enjoyed watching Rugrats. *They both like to read and have math as their favorite subject. *However, they differ in other traits: Bill is happy, smart, has 4 siblings, and plays baseball, while Kendra wears glasses, plays basketball, has 2 dogs, and she’s pretty.

2. Cause-and-Effect Diagram - A diagram which highlights the direct relationship between different events or concepts. This tool is one of the most beneficial organizers because of its many applications in all subject areas.

* The Flower died and was unable to reproduce because it did not rain for three weeks. *The flower died because the temperature was 100 degrees, so, the bee could not find a nectar.

3. Concept Map - A concept map is a general organizer that shows a central idea with its corresponding characteristics. Concept maps can take many different shapes and can be used to show any type of relationship that can be labeled. Concept Maps can be used to show hierarchical relationships with the most important concepts placed at the top.

One of the early means of transportation is Canoe. It is fast and usually used for travelling on water.The other mean is by through walking. Humans typically walks on land and considered slow compared to other means of transportaion. And lastly, the Horses. It travels on land and used for carrying goods.

4. Flow Diagram or Sequence Chart - A flow diagram or sequence chart shows a series of steps or events in the order in which they take place. Any concept that has a distinct order can be displayed in this type of organizer. Steps to Preparing for the Spelling Test First, write your name on your paper in top left corner. Next, write the date under your name. And lastly, number your paper from 1 to 20.

Let us go back to example number 1, what organizer is used? When do we opt into using such organizer? What are its advantages? How about from example number two? How did using such graphic organizer will help you structure your ideas when writing?

And the third example, what type of graphic organizer is being utilized? In what ways it can enhance your ability to express your thoughts clearly in your written work? And for the last example, what graphic organizer we used? What can you think you can further improve your use of such graphic organizer in future writing tasks?

Is it important to use a graphic organizer in reading and writing? If yes, how could it help you as a student or future professionals?

Group Activity Directions: Group yourselves into four and appoint a leader to pick a number from 1-4 . Each number corresponds with specific type of graphic organizer with designated concept which you’re about to create at the front page of your paper. And on the back page of it, modify your organizer along with its concepts and ideas into a paragraph or written form. You will be given 5 minutes to complete the task. Work collaboratively with your team.
